Lissandras new lore is amazing.

Riot has transformed lissandra from a malzahar clone ( a doomsayer that tries to end the world) to a flawed being that has seen it all ( no pun intended). so what follows is my interpretation of the story.. afterwards i will make a final verdict :

**My interpretation :**At the very beggining lissandra and her sisters were immature and careless ..they beleived that power can be obtained without a price and they learned their lesson. Each one losing one of their senses in the process ! Lissandra specificaly was blinded and subsequently got distant from reality and the material world..she chose tho walk in dreams and naturaly encountered nightmares that due to her ''blindness'' couldnt recognize as such..now in the middle of her life at the pinacle of her power lissandra understood that there are powers she could never hope to conquer and her existance was like a candle in the wind , fragile and temporary..Tormented by nihilistic visions of her demise see sought eternity no matter the cost , and the quicker way to grasp eternity was through oblivion..Then she made the pact with the nightmares from beyond promising to be their herald ,and thus sacrificing all creation in the altar of false dreams , freezing her humanity in the process.Clothed in ice the ice witch relished a period of fullfilment until her sisters shattered the glacier prison that had traped her sight along with time ....their ideals sook lissandra and in a moment of epiphany she realized that what mattered the most to her was family and not eternal life ..and then her vision was restored and desperately tried to make the watchers change their plans ( or so she hoped) ..''yes more time'' she surely thought ''i can persuade them to stay silent ..and then , and then we will be together for ever '' but little did she knew the monsters have no feelings and she alligned herslef with them. And then they attacked , and lissandra had to pay yet again for her blindness and this time the price was literaly her world...Her sisters and her allies all in order to stop those she chose to unleash..and lissandra paid and continiues to pay with her very soul as the intrusive visions fo watchers remind her of her double betrayal and the price for eternal life ''wisdom'' , because those that know must protect the ones that dont and carry the responsibilty of their old immature actions forever...Now lissandra is trying to erase history , to erase knowledge in order atone for her sins but no matter how many centuries will pass lissandras love for her sisters remains making her unable erase them from history because that will mean that noone will remember them not even lissandra herself..Now empty and broken she just does what has to be done...becoming a monster inorder to save humanity for even greater monsters or perhaps lissandra is still selfish and unable to understand the value of mortality ...one thing is for certain the ice witch will not pay anymore !

Final Verdict : Lissandra's unique themes were preserved ( the willing alliance with the void , the iceborn thing and the erasure of history) while others like the doomsayer and the deceiver of generations were discarded in order to make the character mroe complex and unique. You see lissandra wasnt deleted the aspects that made lissandra malzahar #2 and lebalnc #2 were deleted , now her character makes sense , her story is honestly one of my favorite lore pieces ever the moment i read that each sister lost a different sense i knew this was going to be a great story ! All in all be positive and try to appreciate the new lore for what it is ..and if you think that elements of the old lore werent preserved then i think you have the same problem lissandra had Lissandra

Such an improvement. Her motivations didn’t make much sense to me in the old lore, now she’s actually developed depth and is an intriguing character.

My only complaint is that her bio was very full of information. Too much information, like the writer was struggling to cram everything into a word limit. I think parts of that could be eliminated and told in different ways, but oh well.

There's no problem, at least in my opinion, with the CONCEPT of Lissandra's new lore. However, the wording of her bio, lack of words to completely flesh her out, and odd writing makes it hard to comprehend and makes it open to interpretation.

I kinda hope Rito does a rewrite of her lore just for clarity's sake.

My issue with changing Lissandra's lore is that it makes many lore pieces about the Freljord no longer canon.

From the introduction video about the Freljord to the Howling abyss monologue, to the individual lore of Trundle and Udyr.

Part of Braum Story and even one of Ornn's tales no longer make sense given the new information.

Combine this with the recent blurb with Master Yi and Jhin's lore, to the massive changes to the lore of the Darkin, to me at least it seems like Riot is changing characters without thinking about all the impact those changes have on the other champions.

I started becoming more weary of the new lore once Swain's revamp effectively made Sion's old website obsolete, which was one of my favorite pieces of story content in this game.

Ever since I started playing this game (back in 2010) I have been up to date with the narrative, and one of the biggest issues I had with convincing people to experience it was the fact that there was a massive lore rework around 2013.

Now I assumed that any new piece of content that came from that time forward would be canon, and so whenever someone brought up the ''that's just gonna be retconed eventually'' excuse I could just prove to them that the lore that was released all the way from 2014 up to now was consistent.

But now I'm starting to fear the the narrative is in a volatile state, and I can't recommend anyone a story that won't be canon after a year.

Idk man. They just basically retconned her voice lines, witch self, long quote for howling abyss. THAT made her character for me.

Look at this cinematic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPBUcguEGAI

Refresh your memory guys. THIS is the evil witch. Not some Malzahar#2. I really don't know about making her an anti-hero/ less of a villain. She is the witch that has plans within plans!

Since Lissandra is one of my favorite characters, I'm glad she has some more depth. Like OP said, the core elements of her story were maintained - yes she's now trying to prevent the Watchers from returning where originally she was trying to bring them back but that was necessary once the Watchers became lords of the Void. Otherwise she would literally be a Frejlord version of Malzahar.

I'm actually okay with that particular turn around anyways, seeing as villain who wants to unleash doom upon the world is pretty overdone. But for those who say she's not a villain anymore, I think we should remember she's not exactly on the side of the angels here. She may be fighting for a "greater good" - as in stop the Void - but she's clearly still pretty morally gray. Nunu's lore talks about the Yetis being betrayed "by the blind one," so she's definitely screwed some people over - which is really just part and parcel of having "plans within plans."

Currently, I'm equating her somewhat with Illidan - being viewed as a villain but trying to keep a greater evil at bay, but still not exactly a good person, in the classic sense of the word. Not to mention initially allying with said greater evil before turning on them.

TL;DR If you think about it, she's still the Ice Witch, just with more interesting story.

The only thing I am not a fan of is the Watchers being Void creatures, that is so much less interesting.

Eeeeeh, she was kinda transformed from a Malzahar clone to a Swain clone. It's just a different evil she's borrowing from.

I kinda agree though and it all make sense now. But i really wish that the writers would rephrase her new lore because its very confusing to read and I hope this wouldn't be done in the future aswell.
