Why do I get the feeling that Cait's child abduction case is connected to Vi's past?

For all who have not read all the new lore, you'd rather catch up before jumping into here, but here's the short version: one of Cait's earliest cases revolved around a series of child abductions by a crazy chem baron, potentially Singed, given that he "has gone insane from his own cocotions". The thing is: why would someone kidnap a large number of children?

While slave-trade and child-slavery is surely a thing in some parts this world, it definetly is not a thing in Piltover and Zaun. And I doubt that it was for the simple pleasure of some really sick perversions. That would have been described as downright disgusting and sick, but not as insane.

So there is only one explanations: the weird chem baron needed the kids for his experiments. One cannot be sure what he was researching. Maybe the effects of his drugs during the growth period? Trying to slow the ageing process in an attempt find immortality? The ability to brainwash someone chemically? "Über-Doping" to ensure superhuman strenght and mind-power? Possible side effects? (Such as Pink or Blue hair...). We can't be sure about that.

And at the same time Vi is an orphan, once said to have been at an orphanage that now no longer exists and someone said he once found her in something that looked like laboratoy wreckage. Both might be true. I mean, if that chem baron was trying to get kids, he would first and before all get them from somewhere where no one would call the police or would miss them too much to the point the police became involved. An run-down orphanage in Zaun seems to be the perfect place here. However, the chem-baron's experiments required more test subjects, and as rumors spread the "ressources" were getting harder to get, so he had to move up to the somewhat higher levels of Zaun, which finally got the police involved.

Would explain why Vi is suddenly working together with Caitlyn now. After the "job-gone-wrong" at the mine she had suddenly gone missing, probably trying to find some clues about her past again, and Cait was on the same case and provided her informations and must have helped her out by, like, a LOT. Because seriously, there is no way Vi would take orders from anyone who has not earned her total respect through their deeds.

The only question is now: is this story arc long over? Or will we get to it again when it comes to the Singed lore, which we might potentially get soon. There is a Zaun event coming after all...

Vi is around the same age of Cait so is not connected at all, at least not on that way.

My guess is that Cait probably caught Vi on one of her heist and it was around the same time Jinx started to wreck havoc on pilvoter. Jinx has a fixation with Vi, they probably have a past together but Vi can't remember it due to her amnesia. So Cait worked out a deal with Vi, a pardon in exchange of helping her with that case; giving that Vi was second-guessing her way of life she accepted readily. Jinx still hasn't been caught and Vi liked the job and thus she keeps doing it. Vi still don't take orders from Cait, she is still highly independent and that's why she has trouble with the police and Cait is in charge of keepign her in check (which she doesn't achieve). proove of that is on Jinx Lore, vi was on the vault but Cait wasn't proven that she was acting independently.

Yup, kinda suspicious, hope we will have some more on this story arc. I was thinking Warwick or Mundo for the crazed scientist. Because Mundo tried insane potions on himself ( but always on himself first so not sure about him ).

But in the case of WW, he is ruthless. In the old lore, he tried to rip Soraka's heart for his potion. And they said they wanted to put his savagery forward in his rework. So abducting children to test his potions, or worse use them as ingredient would fit him.

Did they confirm the Zaun event? How are we sure about that? Links?
