J4 going forward
If you haven't read the latest Lux comic or the related short story "Aftermath", I'm going to spoil those. So you've been warned I guess. Please read them, they are both great.
So now that they've finally done it, they killed ole J3 off (which in and of itself is a mystery I'm looking forward to unraveling), Riot's narrative has set up a very different direction for J4 than I expected. Not a bad direction, mind you, just different. Jarvan has been very well established to be more tolerant than your average Demacian, particularly towards magic. Random farm girl with bird? Sure, you can join important armies. Half-dragon magic lady? Yes, you are as honorable as any Demacian and in fact I kind of like you a lot. J4 is accepting of anyone who is earnest and honorable, no matter their background. This setup seemed to suggest that J4 was going to be the one to move Demacia towards a more tolerant stance on mages. This turned out not to be the case as instead J4 is taking an even harder stance against mages than his father, who he believed was killed by mages.
And this turn of events is good and all, but honestly, I feel like we need to take a step back with Jarvan; Prince Jarvan is about to become KING Jarvan, but I feel like we hardly got to spend any quality lore time with him as a Prince. Several times in the Lux comic, J4 alluded to some romance with (presumably) Shyvana and I just keep thinking...I wanna see THAT. Sure I want to see the story continued of course, but I just feel like we never got to actually SEE the Shyv/J4 story, only just heard about it in passing.
I would love if they set a story or two in this time frame of their growing friendship/relationship, to better give context to the Demacian stories going forward. Because surely, Shyvana will play a role in them and J4 is going to have to figure out how to reconcile his care for Shyvana and his newfound distaste for mages.
Just my thoughts on the subject. Also fix Shyvana's bio! Its not too late, nothing is set in stone about her since she was only vaguely alluded to in the Lux comic.
