@Riot Diana's Lore Was Perfect. Don't Change it. Please.

Her lore is taking a more neutral direction -- I don't like it. In her login music, you hear her sorrow, her pain, her anger, as her misplaced trust became forged into a cold, unforgiving scorn. Diana had arguably the most compelling lore in the game, especially when considering the amount of depth in such a short passage. Her crusade against the Solari was cruel, and perhaps, morally wrong; but it also, somehow, felt righteous: this is what made her lore so great.

Please wait until the long lore comes out. These are just short descriptions of what they do, not who they are.

"Beauty and danger: There are few who can match Miss Fortune in either. One of Bilgewater's most infamous bounty hunters, she built her legend upon a swathe of bullet-riddled corpses and captured ne'er-do-wells. The booming echoes of her twin pistols in the port city's reeking wharfs and scavenger shanties are sure signs of another warrant from the Bounty Board being settled."

This is Miss Fortune's equivalent of what you just read for Diana. What does this tell us about Miss Fortune?

She is a bounty hunter
She is pretty

See how little it says about her character? About her motivations? Nothing. I implore you to take a chill pill and wait. The lore has been amazing in quality since burning tides, so I wouldn't worry. Thank you.

Yes, this. The new short lores don't actually tell us anything we didn't already know, do they? So we still don't know what may or may not be changing.

It does make me wonder if they may be preparing for the release of a new Mount Targon champion. But I already got fooled by Illaoi's harsh nature (back when all we had was a champion select quote), so I'm not jumping to conclusions this time.

This. There is a mount targon event coming out. That's where her lore is going to be, this is just a short summary of her. I imagine this is just the setup of whatever stage riot is planning for the next lore event.

I just hope it doesn't crash and burn. Unless that's part of Diana's plan Hue hue hue.

But there's many short lores that have never gotten their extended version and just reduced to little cinders of what the champions used to be:

Because there's no real background yet developed for them.

And we have Cassiopeia's short background that she betrayed Sivir and stabbed her in the back. They were at Azir's temple at the time and Sivir's blood flowed into Azir causing ressurection. Azir healed Sivir shortly after and Cassiopeia turned into a snake somehow.

No word of Diana's murders or Leona's need to defend others - the characteristics that earned them the titles of avatars. The short lores look like they're pushing Diana more towards an innocent character, and Leona towards a ruthless and blind aristocrat.

That's what it looks like judging from the short lores, maybe those are written that way to trick a first-time reader, and the rest of their lores show Leona and Diana the way they were before: a defender, and an avenger. I hope they are. I would dislike if they change their characters.

Yea I'm definitely concerned with the direction they appear to be taking with Leona based on the short lore. I would wait on the full lore to give my full judgment on the change, but considering there's still full lore missing from some champions who have already been in big lore events and had lore reworks (Cassiopeia and Ezreal to name a couple) I'm not sure that waiting is going to be an option. I suppose time will tell though.

Do rioters even read fan-fictions? ships? the last lore was perfect for some of the best league of legends fan-fictions written. I'd be very sad if they changed her lore. I dont get why they are even changing a champions lore in the first place, its not like they do anything with it.

Legally, they can't, to avoid any copyrighting and plagiarism of those fanfictions. I mean, as much as I'd appreciate being an inspiration for further direction, I wouldn't be very happy if I went completely uncredited. Besides that, I do wish they could contact the authors of certain fictions and ask for permission to take (buy?) inspiration and storylines from them since there are some really good ideas out there as it is.

I never thought about it like that, but that's a really good point.

I personally would be too annoyed or mortified at the thought of people trying to make my characters their own and giving themselves stupid headcanons to want to read fanfictions of my own creations.

Like that one episode of Supernatural.

It's been my belief that they've never needed to rework Targon's lore, merely expand upon it, and this has always been my concern when it was announced that they were working on it (amongst having either Diana or Leona die). These changes are completely unnecessary in my opinion and I would implore them to reconsider reworking everything.

Ah, yeah, I kinda still leave him out in my mind. In the sense Leona having something worthy to object to, however (the idea of killing unnecessarily), it worked. And it's fine for someone to buy into the Artisan of War thing, so expanding on the rest of his character might still have been enough, but, as he was at the time, you're right. He was extremely flat.
