Rammus' Lore is Lore Team Asking Me What His Lore Is

Here is the lore in its entirety:

_"The mysteries that surround Rammus are numerous. How did a simple creature of the desert suddenly become able to reason? How did he craft his vaunted suit of armor? What is he searching for as he crosses the Shuriman desert? One thing is for certain: trying to stop the inexorable Rammus is a fool's mission." _

I am going to assume that Rammus is never going to be involved in a story event because he is a vaguely sentient armadillo with no friends, enemies, allegiances, or dialogue so the only thing we will ever find out about him is from his lore page. Plus we don't exactly get stories every month or anything so even if he did get one it probably won't come out until League of Legends 2.

3 of the 5 sentences in his lore are merely Riot asking (me?) where he came from and what his backstory is. In my opinion, when the page that is supposed to give his backstory is literally saying "we don't know anything about him" that seems a little lazy on Riot's part. The reason we don't know anything about him is that they haven't taken any time to create anything. His background is only mysterious because they have not yet created it.

Here's the thing; a lot of us aren't going to be playing this game for as long as we live. There might be some 5 year plan to get some of these things adequately explained but a lot of us aren't going to care about these things once they finally come about because we will have little time to play as we get older or may have moved onto other interests by then. We are almost done with the 5th season of this game and the only thing I have learned about Rammus is that it "is a fool's mission" to try to stop him. I don't even know what people are trying to stop him from.

There is no lore team you guys. Jaredan and the gang are actually called foundations and their goal is to rebuild the world of Valoran so we can finally get some narrative progression. Besides lore is commonly described as the story that explains a game. Given that the game and the world of Runeterra are no longer tied there is no lore. Please refer to them as either foundations or maybe even narrative. This irks me more than it should.

I see no reason why they needed to change his lore beyond removing the institute of war (if it was in it).

Though you know what I think would be perfect for Ranmus? Make him the protagonist of league.

He's constantly traveling, has no affiliations to anyone but himself, is new to the world (relatively speaking) and can interact with anyone.

He's perfect!

I hope they never give him a new VO and if they do they just replicate his current lines with better sound quality. I also hope they delete his lore page and replace it with, "Ok". Now that would be catering to the community.

Rammus is going for world domination. Don't bother trying to stop him. OK?

Riot generally needs to keep storylines going and keep lore coming at us. All we've gotten for a long time is the Bilgewater event, which expanded on 4 champions.

Riot shouldn't just ask the lore reader questions, they should go in one of two directions.

  1. Ask the questions Riot really wants answered and leave a place to answer them. Should we develop the lore in any way? Does anyone actually answer our surveys? Why are people willing to pay for Chroma packs?
  2. Write a paragraph and leave blanks it in so we can fill it in MadLibs style

Ex. Rammus is a ____(type of animal) who lives in ____(place). He acquired sentience and the power to ______(type of power) when he crafted ____(noun). This allowed to craft his signature armor, the ____(name). Now he is on a quest to _____(verb) his long lost _____(literally anything you want to put here). One thing is for certain: trying to stop the inexorable Rammus is a fool's mission.

Let's be honest: Rammus didn't have much in terms of lore before that either. He was an armadillo, was drawn into a rainforest, walked out sentient, and joined the League to find people like him.

Such a down to earth post lol. Ezreals lore is almost as bad.
