Just got done reading Paint the Town, and Im a bit confused about why Heimer and Ziggs had to wear human disguises because, apparently, Yordles are feared and hunted? When did that happen?

Thinking, Xayah mentions something too. Her quotes towards Yordles is "Yordles are the reason no-one takes us Vastaya seriously." She also generally dislikes them. I'm half wondering why. What exactly happened that made Yordles have to hide their true appearance from baseline humans? If they are truely in danger from them, why reside there at all? Heimer, Poppy, Ziggs, Kennen and Kled all choose to live in human society knowing the risks?
It can't just be because Veigar is off being evil somewhere.

Yep. It actually doesn't make any sense. Neither Poppy nor Kled make an effort to hide their true form, but people are still unable to see them for what they truly are.

I would like to think that Ziggs represent explosions. And that's why his glamour failed.
Zigg's glamour was up when Jinx saw him, but she saw the furr. Not the skin. Because she LOVES explosions, so her seeing him fits in line with what we knew before.
Heimy is a hyper-intelligent individual who could possibly ascertain and understand things way further than we can even attempt to comprehend.
Donger warned Ziggs because of JINX running around. Why?
Piltovans fear Jinx, explosions, and yordles.
Ziggs is a yordle and embodies explosions.
By generating all these explosions during a panic, WITH Jinx, their fear of explosions manifested his actual appearance since they feared yordles just teh same. They saw him because of their mutual fear of the two.
That's why Zigg's glamour wore off.
What about "Heimy's glamour?"
Didn't Ziggs say it in a way that also suggests that he's just upset and mocking Donger about how much he cares about not losing the glamour?
If I was to keep talking and ranting over some ancient key, you can easily say, "Ugh. Val and his stupid key."

Kleds bio makes it clear that he holds his own in a region where strength and accomplishment is the only thing people respect, and he doesn't give any appearance of hiding his nature. Tristana and Teemo and Ziggs and Heimer have all operated openly as Yordles wile still be respected soldiers/adventurers, inventors, etc., but at some point suddenly they were being hunted and... gluh. I don't get when that changed.

Well, Kled story mentions that people see him as an actual human being, same is mentioned in the lore of Tristana and Poppy (even if a child manages to see Poppy as a yordle)
I dont think that they are being hunted, but they are feared... and the (not updated) lore of Ziggs actually mentions that Zaunites are interested in "studying" the Yordles. So, it's possible that yordles are being "hunted" for "scientific purposes" only in Zaun (and Piltover)

Ionia is a continent rich in natural magic, and most of their citizens can use it in some form or another. Yordles are probably revered or treated with respect in Ionia, since they're innately magical.
Noxus doesn't care if you're a yordle, a human, or a zombie - if you're strong, you have worth, just like you said.
Demacia I could see being distrustful of yordles, but remember that Poppy only ever revealed herself to Orlon. In her short story and comic, no one actually knew she was a yordle. That's where the glamour comes into play.
The Twin Cities meanwhile are founded on science, which is the antithesis of magic. That's why I could see Piltovians and Zaunites being mistrustful of yordles and potentially trying to hunt them.
Most of the yordles still haven't gotten their post-Great Retcon backstories, but I'm fairly certain that they can still all be respected in their chosen communities - either through their glamours, or because their community doesn't care if they're a yordle.

True, maybe it was just like Ziggs here where we the viewer see past the glamour when needed, and I just didn't pick up on that.
Helmight1 votesIt really wasn't made particularly obvious in Poppy, Kled, and Tristana's bios, but there are references to the humans in the stories not truly seeing the characters. Definitely could stand to be made more obvious, which is part of the reason I liked Paint the Town.
