Bami being used is a refer-a-friend reward, as far as I know.

Bami was an ancient sorcerer who endeavoured to use fire sorceries to empower objects. After much experimentation he/she found that plantlife responded well to this magic, and created Bami's Cinder; plantseeds imbued with the power of living flame that can be used to augment weapons, armour and other worn items, increasing the vitality and endurance of those who use them.
When these cinders are left to their own devices or planted in the ground they grow in to creatures known as Cinderlings. These small plant creatures are animated thanks to the living flame and can use fire to attack enemies. Cinderlings have been shown to grow in to different kinds of creatures such as Bramblebacks and Cinderhulks, all of which are extremely powerful and long lived plant creatures.
Note: I made this shit up. It's not canon, as much as I wish it could be.
