Is it just me or is Kayn's lore the same as Zed's lore?

Both were orphans, both were taken in by a ninja master, both instantly became the best and mastered everything, and both decided to use a forbidden weapon when told by somebody else that they should destroy it instead because they wanted to surpass somebody else, and both eventually decided they want to become the new leader of the ninja order.

Only difference is that Zed already overthrew his master, but while Kayn wants to lead the Order of the Shadows over Zed, he doesn't seem to want to kill him to do it.
