Lore is WAY too hidden away...

Seriously, first of all many people just DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE LONGER LORE. They see the tiny paragraph of a champ and be like "ok, must not be interesting then". You could at least put a link into the client or something like "Yo, check out the longer version there and there".

On top of that, unless someone specifically tells you to go looking for it, you just don't know that the Bilgewater and Harrowing Event stories - which were totally awesome I may add here - EVEN EXIST. And the same happened to the Targon-Lore page, now that it's no longer being linked from the client.

And don't get me started about something as tiny as Sion's reborn teasers!

I know you want to solve this once you get the new client done, BUT UNTIL THEN YOU NEED TO FIX THIS SOMEHOW!

This is kind of a big issue I have with the way the client is set up. If I want a hi-res shot of every single member of some LCS team, it's plastered across my screen, but a tiny link to Burning Tides or something like that is just super rare. There used to be a Lore tab in the client, back when JoJ was a thing, and I think it might be worth bringing that back.

You have a point, but when most people come to play this game there just here for the game. But the people who do want to really know the lore will go hunting for it. So I feel its not as much of a problem.

Even myself, I didn't know any lore but since I had that want to find out more, it was easy to discover with the vast following the League lore has.

So its really a preference problem more than a delivery problem, so that's why I think Riot puts it off.

Good design would be if people who come for the game will automatically find the lore and become interested in it.

Also, this still requires you to go on the boards or be somewhat in touch with the lore community. But think of an entirely new player here. They wouldn't have any clue where to find ANYTHING. Heck, they wouldn't even know the lore EXISTS.

Once I was playing Illaoi and made a joke reference to the enemy GP, AND ONLY ONE PERSON IN THE MATCH GOT IT. Do you know how sad that is?!

And the list goes on. This stuff should be easier to access than just a wiki page and a half kept champ page on the main site.

Also, you got several things wrong. Ashe and Seju are not sisters. They are reincarnations of the ancient sisters.

And GP had nothing to do with Naut, I think that guy was dropped to the ocean floor way before gangplank's rise to power...

Just proves even more that they need a better way to access this info. I've been playing since the end of season 2 and even I'm getting info mixed up and lost in translation. How does rito expect us older players to inform newer players of this stuff when even we are confused on what the actual story is :(

As far as I know, yes. Ashe became queen of Freiljord (hence queen ashe skin), and her king was tryndamere (hence king trynd skin)

You might know this already or not, but when you win an ARAM match and leave it on the "Victory" sign for a while, Lissandra starts narrating a monologue about her past. In it she mentions that there used to be three sisters, but Lissandra is the only one that survived. Ashe eventually found the bow of one sister, Sejuani more or less carries on the legacy of the other. Ashe and Sejuani are not sisters by blood though.

On a side note: Within her monologue there are also mentions of the Iceborn and the Frozen Watchers, names that reoccur in: item 3025 and item 2301

As a student, Viktor led the team that created Blitzcrank , but the credit was stolen by a professor. The professor left Zaun for Noxus, where he used research stolen from Viktor to resurrect Urgot into his current state.

Additionally, Viktor stole a power source (some sort of arcane crystal) from Jayce , though it's rumoured that there is far more to this story (the original source seems to be told in a heavily biased way). In retaliation, Jayce went to Viktor's lab in Zaun to get it back, but failed, destroying the crystal and blowing up the lab in the process.

Viktor is also the Creator of the Battlecast line (mechanically augmented upgrades of Urgot , Velkoz , Chogath , Xerath , Skarner , and KogMaw ).

yea, their champ pages lists them as friends and all the wiki says about it is "they are reported to be close friends". Why they are friends is a complete mystery (considering they don't come from the same forest and LOTS of Ionian champs have nothing to do with each other). With the retconned lore, I believe since MonkeyKing has the power of a rune stone that would extend the vitality of the creatures that lived near it, it could be possible that he might be an unlimited supply of life essence that Ahri can use to keep her from harming people, but that's only a theory and one that makes Ahri sound more like a parasite than a friend.

Jhin is baiting Shen and Zed to Bilgewater ( I believe) Jhin is about 44, while Shen and Zed are ~40. Also Akali is younger than Shen and Zed o3o

Jhin is one of the reasons why Zed killed Shen 's father.

It's in Vel'Koz lore I think. He's desintegrating Zileans clocktower (or at least parts of it) while the old man has gone away already. Vel knows a lot, but time manipulation is a concept completly new to him. And because he is how he is, he wants to know... (this might eventually trigger a void-apocalypse crashing down on the space-time continuum...)

It seems like that one might have been just a theory that I mistook for a fact at some point, but I did find out Nautilus helped defend Bildgewater during the harrowing back when Gangplank and MissFortune formed an alliance to fight against the shadow isles. Apparently he was a major reason why they were victorious.

pretty much he is the reason for Kalista becoming the spirit of vengeance.

(skipping to the important bits) " Hecarim stepped towards Kalista as if to stand at her side, but instead drove his spear through her back in a monstrous act of betrayal. The Iron Order joined him in treachery, their own spears plunging into Kalista’s body as she fell."

Yes, but let's say of the people that don#t know lore yet there are 50% who would never, ever care. That would still leave 50% of potential new lore fans.

Also, if the lore is high quality, people will start getting into it anyways ^^

There's lore in this game? I could have sworn they tore it all out when they removed Journal of Justice, cut away all the lore from the champ pages, and retconned literally every bit of lore that they had built up over the first handful of seasons.

There's a technical issue with the outdated client. This'll probably be fixed with the new client. Edit: It'll be a while before the client is updated so as of now there's no real solution.

Sadly the client update's been so heavily set back it's still not exactly the best solution. When the client link to the website comes in it'll be grand, but that's months from now at least.

Best we can do right now is to alert the uninformed masses to where the true story can be found.

I'm not sure you can even highlight and copy text from the client UI. If that's the case, it would require more than a trivial amount of effort to implement this 'solution'.

"See more on the official site" and then make it easy to find on that site. Very simple. Pretty much one line of text in the client, any maybe some little work on the website (like, make a box with links somewhere as a temporary solution).

That's really not too much to ask for.

It would need to go through localization for each language, multiplying the amount for work by a significant degree.

While it would be nice, there are lots of things that would use that time better, especially now that the lore has started to be promoted in the front page of the client (as with the Targon narrative revamp).

I think the gain would be enormous tho. Imagine several thousand players finding lore like that and several hundert of them becoming hardcore-lore-fans.

For so little work to do that is a MASSIVE gain imo.

I don't think that many players consult the lore sections of the champions each day (especially those that looked at them before and saw nothing).

For wide exposure of the lore, announcements on the front page of the client are far better suited, I think.

To this day I am still sad about the changes to Skarner lore. Right now it says Skarner is a guardian and no one knows what he is protecting. About 2 or 3 sentences. Thats it.

Then you play Skarner and notice that some of his lines are actually quite sad and forlorn sounding. "I miss my kind." or "This world is so strange." for example. And there used to be a reason for that. It's not considered canon anymore, so we are left guessing as to why Leagues only sentient skorpion feels so out of place.

Actually... I think there was something very hidden in the second Shurima Video. When the camera goes up from the water to the rebuilding city, at 2:46 a weird "hallway" or rather "mineshaft" can be seen, with a blue-ish glow to it.

I know this is not much ( a not even 3 second scene), but this might be the only thing in this whole Shurima-Mess that could possibly be tied to him.

I think there are two possibilities. Either Shurma was built on the Brackern lair which contains crystals with magical power, explaining why the water down there still has healing powers - or he is some kind of Acended Scorpion (theoretically you could throw animals into the ascension progress too), and really some kind of tomb guardian.

I really hope they update this Shurima mess soon...

Ascension is a ritual that tranforms the user while overcharging him with cosmic energy, mostly by using the gigantic Sun Disk of Shurima. The process is guided by whatever image of the divine the pariticpant has. So if you are in a culture with animal-headed-gods, you probably end up like Nasus, Renekton or Azir. Aurelion Sol says that himself, "You guys surely know how to pick an animal totem", suggesting that the end result of the ascension is dependant on the user.

Azir is a special case too. He views himself as "the ruler of the sands" - and ascension gave him the power to manipulate sand at will, aka being a true ruler of it.

Shurima was the only civilication that discovered the process - and even then it was buried under tons and tons of religious mubo-jumbo, so a traveller couldn't just see and recreate it. It MAYBE would have spread, if it wasn't for the destruction of the empire caused by Xerath.

Other cultures had found other ways of transcending their human nature. Mordekaiser by researching necromancy, the Freljordians by engaging into a contract with the watchers. Central Runeterra has been too busy fighting itself (Demacia/Noxus) to ever develop something that complex. And Urtistan... well, they - or rather Zilean - were close to finding the scerte of time, but got eradicated in one of the countless wars that shook the continent.

I can see Zaun trying to mess with it tho, if they ever figure out how it works...
