This varus lore change reminds me of what happened to Xerath.

I remember the days when Xerath had his lore being remade. First he was a sorcerer of a civilization and experimented on powers far beyond his control. And blew it up. He had quite a few ties with people that are now currently deleted.

And after that we had a near 1-month worth of lore streaming in to fill in these gaps. Vizier of the emperor, former slave, back-stabbing schemer, but was always on Azir's side. Until the tragedy that was not meant to happen. That lore change was a success, because Xerath now is a totally understandable, and filled in with conflict and ties with others more than his previous version.

The problem of Varus' new lore, is...it simply lacks the complexity and volume compared to this. Varus was a villager, father, protector, and most a being of fueled with vengeance on "borrowed time". It is good as a story on its own and it is a shame to cast it aside. When I play Varus and hear his dialogue, I had that feeling that NOBODY will stand in your way. Your arrow punching through anything was very symbolic in that term. And that theme of "vengeance" and his loss had me very attached to him.

It's a real shame.

Stand alone, the lore will seem sorta shallow. More info on the darkins in general is required for varus's lore to feel more complete

Saying old lore of Varus was more complex than new one is just dumb. (not saying you say that, speaking general).

It was mega generic, cliche, not special lore. New one is not something we can find in every fantasy universe. When old one was you could.

New one is far better written and unique, only thing I am a little unhappy is how possibly random gay guys can overshadow actual Varus itself. And I hope these "gay guys" don't consume the place of actual gay champion couples. It would be more interesting to see Diana and Leona (or whatever pairing makes sense) together as first.

And also, Xerath is one of champions that have updated lore the most. He is well developed character. So ofc it is normal for Xerath to be far more complex than Varus for now.

The new one lacks the complexity and volume of the old one?

I mean I'm not saying the new one is better than the old one,but it is far more detailed and complex than the old one.I mean come on,you just summarized the entire old lore in a single sentence...
