It has been a long time since there were no new Demacian and Noxian champions.

Draven was the last Noxian champion, and that was more than 3 years ago. Sion does not count since he is not a new champion, he is a remake from an old champion.

The last Demacian champion released was Lucian but he doesn't feel like a Demacian champion. He is only really related to Demacia due to the fact that rioters said he was born there. He doesn't even have quotes associated to Demacia. Also, he was released 2 years ago.

Although Riot doesn't release new Demacian and Noxian champions (I want to know why) they have been reworking lots of old Demacian and Noxian champions, we saw that recently with Fiora, Garen, and Darius. And Sion last year.

Sion is basically a new champion. He got his own login screen.

Yeah, we've definitely had a bit of a drought on Noxus and Demacia. I don't think it was intentional to avoid them, but more of us trying to fill in gaps (they're still pretty well-represented overall), which led us to other areas of the world.

That said, I personally think we're long overdue, and I've been beating that drum around the champ pit a lot as we've been kicking off our next batch. There's a lot of excitement to do characters that will add some depth to both Demacia and Noxus, but it's a matter of finding the right place. I really hope we get a new one from each of those factions before the end of the next year, and I'm pushing for it where I can!

EDIT: end of next year, not this one (sadly). Thanks Ralanr!

I think they're just trying to flesh out other parts of the world. Noxus and Demacia are probably (aside from Bilgewater post-Burning Tides/Shadow and Fortune) the most "steady" parts of the world, they have a pretty obvious theme and lots of champs within that theme.

About 1/4th of the map (Although that map is no longer canon, IIRC) is unused. No Tempest Flats, barely any Voodoo Lands (Annie kinda, but she doesn't represent the area much), no Howling Marsh since the first Karthus retcon. They've got a lot of space to do stuff in if they want.

Well its not like they are the only city states that didn't get a new champ for quite a while. I mean Piltovers last champ is Vi who was released even before quinn and lucian Targons last champion is Diana ,who was released before VI(not that targon has many champions to begin with) Bandle Citys last champion is Lulu, who isn't even a 6300-champ anymore And well the last real bilgewater champ was Nautilus who was released even before lulu, but this is going to change with Illaoi.(tahm kench is related to bilgewater, but isn't really tied to a single city state)
