Setaka when?
Why don't we have champion Setaka the ascended warrior?

has her crossblade, which might make it awkward.
Plus Setaka's been dead for who knows how long, so that's a bit of a bother. Resurrection isn't all that common a thing in Runeterra.
Nah, she's fine. https://i.imgur.com/mg4Cr.gif
I'm glad it's not all that common though. Would take away from Azir in this case.
And Warwick, though his was a very different situation.
Idk if overlap with WW would bother me as much for that reason. His res was very different.
For me it's more about Azir gaining allies he doesn't need to work for which would make me uneasy. I wanna see him grow and I think Setaka would stifle that.
I dunno I feel like if Setaka did resurrect somehow, she'd take Nasus's word over Azir's. She knew Nasus in life for 300 years, but she likely never knew Azir considering she probably died before he was born.
I still agree that Setaka actually being a champion's probably not the best idea. Plenty of firtile ground in the Ascended thematic without using up your only npc Ascended as a new champion.
Well, she probably wouldn't side with Xerath; pretty sure about that. If she did I'd fear for Nasus and Azir.
Now that I think about it Nidalee's Pharaoh skin heavily overlaps Bastet (though we don't know what form Setaka took), so my headcannon would put Setaka as Menhit (goddess of war). Setaka's description (by Nasus) leads me there.
If another Ascendant were to rise, I believe Anuket (Gazelle) would probably be appropriate, but only after Xerath and Azir face off. Then she could help usher in the new age.
There's also the option of adding a teal-tinted Kestrel-headed goddess (Isis), but another Bird may be awkward beside Azir depending on how it's pulled off. Maybe after the wings in League problem is solved.

Well at least 1 out of 4 Ascended has ressurected... so, i dont think that its impossible.
Aye but Azir was ressurected by the magic of the city of Shurima and the blood of his descendant. A very specific set of circumstances that also feels like it was ordained by higher powers considering he ended up just Ascending with no one to oversee it as was done in the old days.
The current queen of a shurima city claims to be descended from Setaka who is the most legendary ascended
and she has a reason to come back (little kid stole her crossblade)

A city called Zuretta, which we don't have any information about geography wise relative to the capital. The city of Shurima's got the sun disc. Zuretta has what?
queeniness and setaka blood
Oops. Better add that to the list...
At least Senna and Kassadin's daughter have a valid reson for not being champions in-story....
It's not so bad, I mean, if a character has a proper name, and their interesting, people will want them as champions. It's just human nature.
True enough.
But I would like to see Kassadin's daughter as a champion towards the end of Kassadin's story arc. It would be interesting. And give us some insight about the Void.
And give us some insight about the Void.
Considering the void is the lovechild of the Cthulu mythos and the Tryanids/Zerg, i don't think she would come back in a state capable of speech.... best cases scenario she gets her father's old lore; She went into the void, but came out stronger and ready to stop it.
I think it is more likely that she'd be turned into some void abomination that now acts for the voids interest.
And hey not every champion needs to be capable of speech
That was my original idea. I thought she'd look similar to Malzahar or Kassadin (still keeping with the void-corrupted humanoid theme) but she'd be mentally corrupted, and Kassadin would have to find a way to save her.
If she's first Voidborn support that could lead to some interesting gameplay.
Well, i was going to write a short story that was a retelling of the Joj article that she first appeared in, taking place in Zaun. The ending would have been Kass, Ekko and Zac stopping Malz's cult, but while Kass got his daughter back, she would have been changed by the void, a bit more drastically then her father though.
It would have been body horror-ish, and she would basically have been rendered insane. She still shows some flashes of self-awareness, but has become a void beast, though one that wasn't nessesarily destructive (I don't think the Void is a hivemind, given that one of it's worse traits is it's inability to unite itself) And left Kass with a moral dilemma.
I also had one where she was infected by a parasitic void creature who's kit took inspiration from Dota 2's Weaver, but I would like a void support. Shame Ketch took the whole 'eating your carry' thing, but that just makes me want to know the possible playstyle even more.
Rek'sai is actually smarter then Vel'koz, she just smart enough not to show it off with talking.[slayer-jinx-wink]
In all seriousness, I don't think all champions should talk, but Bard and Rek'Sai are kind of boring because they don't have any cool lines or interactions. At least Rek'Sai has the excuse of being an 'alien' , we know Bard can speak.
Well there are certainly some possibilities with her. Like she could speak in an "alien tongue" so she could simply speak in a made up language, with some dialogue of her original self slipping through from time to time.
half of those are just shitty background characters
who seriously cares about Rafen
Kind of the point. Setaka was literally mentioned once in a short story, and we've never even seen her.
The point is that background characters are necessary in storytelling and sometimes actually have the potential to be interesting characters.
Sure, most of them are plot devices. But they're still interesting.
Plus Rafen's survived two short stories that involved conflict. That's not easy for a non-champion character. (The only one that's come to mind other than him is Tamara).

Wait wait WHAT?
It's okay if people care about the side character that you care about, but the second they mention anybody else you dismiss them and call their favorite side characters shitty?

Rafen is the BEST, he survived an attack of Hecarim... You know who didnt? Kalista
Rafen>Kalista
Kalista wasn't shit before she was Kalista
Rafen is random pirate guy
Setaka is ASCENDED WARRIOR QUEEN and there's a theme of ascended champs in the game

And she is dead.
... But you know who is not dead?
Rafen
Rafen>Setaka
Given how close the Shadow Isles are to Bilgewater, maybe not even death can stop from being a potential champion.
Same can be said about Setaka with that attitude -_-
Add Jinx' sister to that list, while we're at it.
Hey, now. I'm listing what people want as champions, not potentially ruining fan theories.

I want a female ascended champion !
The female Darkin sister and also Kassadin's daughter
Isnt she dead?
Well, I have a theory that Her Ascended Form is like Sekhmet, just based on the name, and that she found Vaarus's sister. As a champion, she would switch between them as a part of her kit, referencing Hathor as part of Sekmet.
At least, that's what i hope. I would like to see her, even if it's in concept art.
A rioter has already confirmed that Setaka died with the Doom of Icathia and that happened before the Darkin War.
I honestly think the "Golden -armoured warrior queen" in Varus' new lore is actually Setaka. Just think about it. Maybe she defeated another Darkin (Varus' sister) and sealed her in a Shuriman temple. That's why Varus tried to search for it there.
