Why does she sound so self-deprecating? "I got lucky. You'll get me next time." That doesn't sound like the "Iron Ambassador" to me. (Though I'm not expecting to keep that title) Like, she sounds almost exactly like Tristana. Why are you changing her entire characterization? She was at least unique among female Yordles.

self-deprecating champion would be an amazing addition to the game. We already have so many confident warrior type champions that a little change is welcomed.

If she lacks confidence then it'd be a change of pace.
Maybe she's trying to cheer up someone like Amumu. Maybe Poppy is going to become much more of a heroic figure rather than the current heroes who more fight for their countries and hate all their enemies. Full of chivalry and such. If she is Demacian, maybe she is speaking to a fellow Demacian since, if they were fighting even in the Rift, it is more of a test of skill than actual war.
Basically, if this IS Poppy (which is probably is, I mean listen to the voice, really doubt its Illaoi) I think she has become a much bigger character for chivalry and such in a fight rather than the current "IMMA BEAT YOUR FACE IN WITH THIS HAMMER! HAMMER DIPLOMACY!"
