Leona's lore. Wow, really. Really.

Why does she want to kill Diana even before the Elders's order? That's NOT the Leona we know. Everything else is fine, including the fact that she came to value life after a personal evolution, not just always having been like that - but why would she want to kill as heretic someone who clearly found something actually existing? Why wouldn't she want to know what it's about first, and then dissuade if there's a problem, before even thinking about conflict?

Leona has good intentions and is a nice person, but her definitions of what's "good" are probably a little warped by the Solari, who have shown that they aren't exactly the most welcoming and helpful folks, considering they murdered all of their competition.

To her, "Heretic" is probably like "Mass Murderer", it's about the worst thing you can do.

I know, but from how it's described, Diana didn't come there saying stuff like "the Sun's light only burns and lies", she legit said "there's this other way and I actually have the powers related to it looksie looksie" aaaand they didn't wanna looksie.

Have you tried to tell an elderly country woman that Jesus is a jew?

Or that he's not "white" and would have tanned chestnut skin due to his birthplace of origin? You will possibly get into an argument since she was raised to believe one thing in specific. Religion can get people killed. Even if Diana was being positive, it sounded like a slap in the face. when the message is given directly to religious leaders by someone who is not an expert.

I mean, just look at how Martin Luther was treated after he brought up a few statements towards the Catholic Church.

And that's why Elders reacted that way. But that's Leona, someone who was raised in a tribe of warriors and went against her whole life, family, society to save a life once. Why wouldn't she be worried, instead of angry?

Also, here in Europe most people have absorbed that "Jesus was a Jew" thing a while ago. They'd have a harder time dealing with the skin color, but I think we'd still be ok. People here are less stubborn on concepts - there's mainly practical racism ("grmbmllb these guys bring poverty and crime and I'm scared to walk in the dark because they're dark")

I agree with you. They made Leona a lot more aggressive in this lore. I mean, even is she was being brainwashed, the Rakkor told her to kill, but she didn't, and that was part of her identity. In this one, she didn't even show selflessness and I just feel like they made her too aggressive. Like, yes, Leona would see DIana as a heretic at first, but when Diana begins to speak, Leona is like "woah wait maybe we should listen" but before Leona can speak up she would be KO'd by Diana, and Diana would only hesitate to kill Leona since Leona had never done anything to hurt her.

In the new Lore, I really see it as Leona trying to kill Diana because Diana slaughtered the elders of the Solari. In a lot of ways, this reminds me of the Zed/Shen story. Much like Diana does in the lore, Zed found knowledge that was right and true, but it was "forbidden" (the way the Lunari is "willfully ignored") and then when confronted with these truths, the Master (or Elders, in Diana's case) banishes (declares a heretic) the person who was just exploring a different path. In a fit of rage, Zed (Diana) slays the Master (Elders) and becomes the adversary of Shen (Leona) in a conflict that has not yet been resolved fully.

But that's just my interpretation...

She wants to kill her BEFORE it happens. She wants to be the one who brings her to "justice". She wants to be what Pantheon used to be to her in her former lore. Even Pantheon in her former lore is less aggressive than that. He does tell her "Leona, you HAVE to do it" before sh's sentenced to death.

Also in a world where magic exit, there's a difference between DAAAAAAAAAAARKNEESSSSS and "oh wow the moon is priti"

Leona brings Diana in but doesn't intend on killing her, she's just on guard because she feels like something sketchy's going on. When the Elders start saying "nopenopenope gtfo with this bullshit" is when Leona's like "Oh, they're gonna make me kill her".

Then Diana kills the Elders, knocks out Leona, and disappears. Leona is obviously and understandably pissed, goes off to chase Diana and stuff.

Then Leona climbs mountain and becomes solar-powered Leona. And is now looking for Diana because they both seem to know the hidden truth (or part of it).

Done.

"Leona felt her anger build with every word Diana spoke"

That doesn't mean she would have killed Diana on her own.

I mean just because someone says something that pisses you off, doesn't mean you want to kill that person(or think it is ok to kill that person).

She was being told eveyrhting she was taught by the Solari was a half-truth, no shit she'd be pissed.

If I'm not mistaken Diana topped the mountain before Leona did. So Leona was still all hard core Solari at the time and was probably just as single minded as her elders. After the attack she tops the mountain herself and has a bunch of revalations of her own. Towards the end of the story Leona doesn't seem to want to kill Diana in her search for Diana.

The only thing I didn't like about the story was that Pantheon didn't get to retain his human side after topping the mountain like the other two did. And his story really doesn't do anything to align its self with the other two. Leona and Diana were like two different vantage points of the same story, Pantheon's was just kind of their.

That Panth thing really pissed me off, how can he know he wanted to be a baker now?

I like to think she was kind of brainwashed.

I also like to believe that with her new knowledge, she may change her opinion about Diana just a bit.

She already changed her intentions. After getting to the top, she realizes she REALLY needs to find Diana - that's not necessarily to kill her, but because there's something important to do that has to do with balance'n'stuff ##TeamRakkorFixSeason6Pls

Leona's greatest strengths; her zeal, passion, and conviction...these things are a double-edged sword. Before the truth was revealed to her she still held these traits, they were just misplaced by the lies and incomplete picture Leona was being fed by the Solari. She truly believed that the Solari's teachings were what was best for everyone and so anything that threatened or interfered with them would be evil.

Photos of Ghosts4 votes

But the way it's said, it wasn't necessarily threatening anything. She had to be on her guard, but why not investigating if it's actually bad, and then trying to talk Diana out of it if it indeed is?

...I wouldn't be a good religious follower, would I?

Moral absolutism has an incredible way of warping the mind. This is even more pronounced when you're indoctrinated with a set of beliefs from birth or youth. Questioning your faith alone can be regarded as a heresy, let alone suggesting an alternative source of holiness. What if a pagan walked into a baptist church in the heart of the bible belt and preached of a god whose power rivals theirs, that their traditions, beliefs, and their bible were wrong and incomplete? How many of them do you think would even consider what she was saying as truth? And the Solari were far more zealous than the average Sunday churchgoer.

If she was wrong, she's a delusional heretic intent on denying the truth. If she's right it's even worse because it means she sought out, found, and was empowered by something that wasn't the sun; a heathen god. A face of evil. She then brought that false light into their temple and proceeded to @*#% on the beliefs they had spent their lives, and their father's lives, regarding as absolute truth.

People have been sentenced to death for far less in the name of religion.

I like this better.

Personally, I never liked how Leona always seemed so much _better _ than the rest of her people. To me, it cheapened her. I started to see her as smug. Zealous. 'Holier than thou.'

But that isn't how brains work. In reality, you are not raised in a culture like the Rakkoran one without being, at the _very _ least, indifferent towards death. On Targon, it would be very, very common. It would be something Leona was very used to seeing, and ending, because on Mount Targon, such is life.

The new version is better because she actually has balls enough to end a life, and yet can still recognize an innocent, undeserving soul when she sees one. Which is more foresight than the common person in that society would have, but not so different that it makes Leona seem ill-fit for the culture.

Photos of Ghosts3 votes

But I'm ok with her being indifferent towards death, she was trained that way. The problem is that Diana was clearly onto something, and while it's normal for Leona to accept the Elders's orders of killing the heretic, she should never have thought that on her own before fully listening and investigating, and trying a more civil route.
