Like, the heart is not exactly a very complicated thing. It's a muscle working in a rather complex way, but nothing that couldn't be solved by machinery.

But the brain? The most complex organ in the entire human body?

My only guess is that they stuffed one of the Brackern-stones into her and the soul of the Brackern merged with Orianna's mind to create something new while powering the machinery... would at least explain how she could move the sphere, if for the soul-stone it is seen as part of her body.

Well from what I understood, Reveck didn't replace Orianna's heart because there was no need to. It was the only organ left in her body that wasn't failing. There was no need to replace it.

However Reveck didn't make and give her a new mechanical heart because he knew that with one she would be able to function independently, and he wanted her to stay close to him in order to protect her.

That's why he made a key to power her lungs; to ensure that she would always stay close to him. Orianna finally replaced her heart not only to function independently, but also to give her father a heart transplant.

I found this odd too. If he was able to transfer her mind into machinery, creating an artificial heart should've been a cake-walk. I mean, artificial hearts actually exist irl.

If I were to take a stab at it, the brain in the League universe is viewed more or less the way it was viewed by most pre-science cultures. As this big lump that helps regulate your body but otherwise doesn't do much. The heart, however, was considered the interface for the soul. But that doesn't explain how Orianna would transplant her soul from her fleshy heart to her new hexcrystal core.

I think that Reveck is a genius and it's been shown through things like creator viktor and the battlecasts that you can survive having your brain removed and replaced with hextech. So I think that that's what's going on here.
