As much as I love that we are finally getting some decent Mt Targon lore....

Doesn't retconning Diana's aggression and resentment towards the Solari basically make her in-game dialogue out of character and effectually non-canon? Has the person who wrote her lore piece even played the character? Because nothing about this new lore accurately portrays her in-game character or kit imo. It just seems to me that her urge for reconciliation would have made more sense as a plot development than as the base background story. I daresay Diana's been as neglected in this lore as she has been in game, which sucks because I figured if there were ever going to be a Targon event, that would be when we'd finally see her get the attention she deserves.

That said, the stuff for Leo and Pantheon was pretty solid imo.

This is something that worried me a little as well. I think Burning Tides proved how strong a lot of the character writing is lately, but the thing with Leona and Diana in these new lores (Pantheon I'm undecided on, dude had pretty much no personality before, so I'm not really attached to anything about him) is that they both feel too...flawless?

The Leona/Diana conflict was, in my opinion, the best example of "Moral Grey" storytelling Riot's ever done. Leona was a kind person, but she was attached to a religion that turned out to be rather vile and dogmatic, and she was blind to the atrocities they'd committed. Diana had good intentions, and the people she believed in tried to have her executed. She responded by murdering them all and vowing revenge.

Leona didn't totally understand the people she was fighting for were dogmatic at best and apparently genocidal (moon-o-cidal?) at worst, and Diana was using brutal methods, and really starting to push the envelope of "self defense". They both had some less-than-desirable traits there.

Now they both have, quite literally, kinda become shimmering golden goddesses. And I think that's a little disappointing and distilling of what their characters were.

Of course, that's entirely my opinion on the matter, and, as the event progresses, assuming it's similar to Burning Tides, we might see some very new sides to these characters. (Graves/TF made up? Miss Fortune outwitted everyone? Gangplank EXPLODED?) So I mean, grain of salt.

Honestly it feels a bit like this lore was made to please the diana fans, because a lot of diana fans refused to see her as anything than a misunderstood girl.

But yeah her ingame dialogue doesn't really match her new lore.

I'm worried they may end up ruining Diana's character by making her too soft (Pandering to those who "Draco In Leather Pants" her), but I think since she murdered those elders, she may just begin denouncing the sun entirely and it'll make sense again.

Her new lore is awesome and pretty well done. It's DEFINITELY better than her old lore. Also, it fits her kit perfectly. All they have to do is change the in game lines and then the problem is solved.

It is a sad truth, she is getting Ahri'd, Miss Fortune'd, and now Pantheon'd. It is something that is unavoidable. Her kit is still fine, but her in-game character doesn't match her lore and she wouldn't be the first to have this problem.
