...I just couldn't care less about Kai and Valmar or their relationship. I only care about Varus, the Darkin itself. We have many humans in our world but not so many weapons that turn into demonic beasts after consuming a person(hint:0). I'm more interested in how Varus will reunite with his brethren and I'm curious about this new sister.

I am interested in where darkin Varus will grow. But right now, there is no plan to expand the story. There is a Voice update. So right now, I m playing Varus who just wants to kill for revenge, that is fine. Except the current Varus is a darkin with no backstory.
In the end, I have already said I don't care about lore when I play the game anyways. But if I think about it, it why would I ever identify with Varus. It is harder to relate to him in his current state.
Edit: I am only semi-interested in where dark Varus goes. I mean a lot of him is just evil, so idc.
