The Glade Theory: Fairy Tale Dream Realm, Where Dreams and Nightmares Collide

With the new champion coming that has a decent chance of being from the Glade based on the aesthetic and teaser, I came up with a theory on WHAT exactly the Glade is in the new lore and who is already from it. So, what do we currently know about the Glade?

  1. It is inhabited by your standard fairy tale creatures and fae
  2. Reverse Narnia effect where time passes quickly within it
  3. The world within it is heavily distorted

Currently, I believe we have two champions from the Glade, being Lulu and Shaco . But wait, you say, those are two very different champions theme wise! One is a fae-based yordle who uses "pixie magic" while the other is a murderous clown demon who stabs people! Well, that's where my theory about the Glade kicks in. The Glade is not just a magical, happy go lucky fae realm. It is actually, in fact, more of a "Light vs Darkness" realm where spirits of chaos live. Some of the spirits are more kind, albeit a little bit of tricksters, like Pix. However, the other spirits are much more evil and are essentially insane murder beasts that are your standard creepy fears from childhood stories. Basically, the Glade is a fairy tale realm in a fantasy world. It's the chaotic realm of the world where dreams come to fruition, whether they are pleasent dreams or nightmares. Bedtime stories or campfire scares become real, and they on rare occasions are able to escape into the real world, spawning the urban legends of the world. Essentially, the Glade is a realm where dreams come true... all dreams. If my theory is correct, the next champion will be a huge "lore progression" for the Glade, being maybe one of the more powerful characters that reside within the Glade. Perhaps even the origin of the Glade itself due to it's seemingly large connection to sleep and dreams.

TL;DR The Glade is a realm where mortal dreams become "reality", whether those be pleasant or nightmarish dreams.

I like the idea that all the spirits of the Glade just want to have fun. While Lulu shares the fun (whether you like it or not) Shaco wants all the fun for himself and is a selfish fae.

I like this idea. I really hope The Glade isn't void related, not everything has to be void related imo.

I like the idea that The Glade is this ultimate fantasy wonderland of love and chaos. Basically an EDM music festival.

I also think that Shaco being from the Glade makes him 1000x more interesting than "Here's another demon" - even if he ends up still being a demon, a Glade demon sounds more interesting considering his contextual environment of faes and such. Like he fits just enough by not fitting in.

Adding another point of origin to League lore makes me really upset. Instead of making their lore deeper, Riot just makes it wider and wider with some ugly things like "hey, you know that a Star dragon existed and was enslaved by Targon?", or "Remember darkins being the gods of war? Lol forget this, they are just some cheap void/corrupting/weapon thingies now lel". For the most popular game in the world, League has probably the worst company to make its lore. Nowadays, you have companies like FromSoftware who creates a game's full lore by its release, and hides parts of it to encourage players to discover it with theories or rough observation. Riot? An employee wakes up and then says "hey, it would be cool if the Werewolf in our game was a victim of some experiment, instead of a scientist who wanted to obtain the perfect body. Yeah and this starchild who's lore was tied to his? Yeah f*ck her, she keeps her lore even if it dosen't make any sense lol", and this is straight up ugly. Now it seems like the new champion will be tied to leagues lore by dirty band-aids, since Riot will just release it and be like "hey, here is the new champion along with its lore that we created from nothing, enjoy and give us money"

You can always dream lol

They will improve nothing lore-wise, they didn't even made a lore page about Demons in general, some parts of Runeterra aren't even exploited (Kumungu Jungles etc)

Perhaaps it has something to do with the Void. After all, "Near Void rifts on Runeterra, fantastical occurences become the norm." The Void itself evolves based on the physical body, while the Glade adapts off of the mind and psyche. Might just me connecting points that aren't there, but hey. It's something.

Someones gonna say that the Glade and places like it are areas soon to be Void afflicted.

I don't know.

But I sort of wonder what the Void is limited to affecting. There are nature spirits and the like. Can they be affected too?

People probably don't want to hear this, but it is also possible that the Glade doesn't exist in the new lore whatsoever. Bandle City as a whole is now a timeless fairy tale location, so having the Glade as a second timeless fairytale location is a bit redundant. This would be a sad development for Lulu fans, but I don't think it can be ruled out.

Even in the old lore, there has always been the possibility that the Glade never existed, and that Pix is only a manifestation of Lulu's own magic.

That being said, your theory about dreams and nightmare manifesting has some good potential. It might even make Nocturne a Glade denizen.
