I'm not sure why Riot keeps always the "most-cliche" characters as their posterchilds.
Just look at the current SG-skins: A nine-taled fox, the powerful domina-mage, the sexy pirate, the anime protagonist (you can thank the popularity of Final Fantasy for that connection lol),...
I mean, those champions are all fine and got their right to exist, but if I as a studio would want to display the most unique and original characters of my game and shower them with cool skins instead of promoting the archetypes that have already been done again and again.
I'm kinda happy that Soraka got a new skin, if it has fancier particles than Celestial I might even get it, but in the end this favouring of certain champs over others just looks weird by now. Not sure how the skin-pipline looks now, but I doubt they have skins for Illaoi, Yorick, and Aurelion Sol in production.
They got a sassy Star Dragon in the lineup, who I consider one of Riot's best and original characters, and yet we never hear and see any of him anywhere - just where is the logic in that?! Same kinda with Illaoi, who's an archetype also not seen very often in gaming (at least far fewer than the typical ones above).
Again: why does Riot use champions as poster-childs that make them look so normal, instead of using those that really make people say "wow, THAT'S something new/something rarely seen, this now makes me curious"?
