Camouflage now only post lvl 6... so basically her early ganks will be total ass and remove exactly what you were actually doing with her to gain momentum in the game? sigh

EDIT : Sorry for the kneejerk reaction, as was pointed out Charm(or more likely the slow) aswell as the mini-lunge on E will propably be enough for them early ganks. Only thing I'm still slightly salty about is that those tasty first kill's at enemy red due to camouflage won't really be a thing anymore, but those were kinda stupid if I'm being honest with myself.

Her Charm is pretty strong for early ganks

What led to the decision to make her stealth only active post-level six, if I may ask? I'm not complaining, she seems super fun. I'm just curious.

Its pretty obvious: To take power from her pre-6 ganks (currently occupied by her non interactive stealth mechanic in the power budget) and distribute it to other, interactive, parts of her kit (e.g. she now has a hard cc again like way back in the day) so she is easier to tune (and play) between OP and useless while being fair to the enemy.

RiotReav322 votes

Having stealth pre-6 let to a lot of non intuitive gameplay for the enemy players (Warding camps is the optimal thing to do agaisnt her.) Since this was non intuitive many players don't do it against Eve, yet we have to balance her for the optimal case where players do know how to play against Eve early. It is part of why we had to make her more of a diver than a Assassin.

Shìkì2 votes

So, is Eve actually forced to teleport back after the Ult or can you cancel that? Because I'm pretty sure if the ult will not kill you might want to stick to the target, not be forced to blink the other way.

Kanzler16 votes

Dont F it up :)

DeadUnborn1 votes

Am I right to say Eve's textures, model and splash art have been updated/improved since her teaser?

On a side note I really don't care what her optimal build path is as long as her gameplay is fun and healthy. A fed rek sai can burst an ADC in 2.5 secs and she is a diver, so it is really ok. Plus Twitch and Rengar have taught us that camouflaged assassins are extremely hard to balance properly since their in and out pattern becomes abusive when they can engage from ward lines

Mister Support5 votes

Her detection radius is much larger than both Twitch and Renger's it seems (slightly larger than a lane's width).

Will Evelyn still have her ad scaling on her abilities or is she full ap now??

We didn't play Evelynn for the charm.

ZarZuf4 votes

Agreed :/ Her new kit surely seem solid (actually it seems quite overloaded) and has potential for skill expression and strong impactful plays, but it really lack the "this is Evelynn" feel :/

FakeGravity7 votes

and ppl didnt played galio for his cross map entrance CC, but it sure get added i think is a good change, and i can understand why the remove her pre six stealth, we cant make too many conclusions until the numbers are out

FlameHalbrdOkido1 votes

What happened to the idea of stealthing near walls? I really liked the idea any possibility of of it coming back for pre-lvl-6 or perhaps post-lvl-six with a smaller detection radius or faster transition to the passive being active?

RiotReav34 votes

This was never a idea or a thing for Eve. That was just something someone made up on a fake leak.

RazerX12 votes

I dig it, but I also agree that her stealth range seems ridiculously large. But What I think is this. They don't want you to use stealth as an engage replacement. The old Evelynn had to walk upto the enemy to hit them. With her ulti she now has 2 engage tools plus hard cc. The stealth is used to approach the lane without anyone spotting you anywhere else on the map. Still I think it could do with about 100 less detection range. We will see after we play her.

LXII10 votes

So no stealth til 6. Q requires a skillshot (I might be okay with this one) "Hard cc" that takes a second or two to even be hard cc, effectively locks you out of the rest of your kit if you want the hard cc instead of a slow, oh and also gives away your position if you are stealthed. Forced backdash on her ult.

Obviously I'll reserve full judgement until I've played her, but this has lessened my excitement considerably.

**As a jungler I am struggling to understand her strategic niche in a team. **

  • Pre level 6 she does nothing some other jg can't do better (Especially Elise).
  • Her tower diving at lvl 6 is going to be good but Elise can do the same thing by level 3, with better cc, a point and click execute, and the ability to reset tower aggro with rappel.
  • Her late game team fighting was unique due to her strong flank engages with her stealth plus the innate tankiness and slow from her ultimate, now she is just pretty much every other assassin in that she either needs to burst a target and run away or be super reliant on catching someone out of position.
  • Not being able to sneak past ward lines until 6, increased detection radius and lust dust giving a warning reduces a lot of her original niche and fails to differentiate her from Rengar who can do a similar thing albeit with a cooldown
  • The versatility in her build path with the ability to go ap/ad, glass cannon/tanky was also something I've always enjoyed and was pretty healthy but seems to be no longer supported.

Credit where credit is due the kit looks fun, especially Lust Dust which is a cool thematic ability, it briefly revealing her to the target will make it hard to pull off properly but it adds to the thematic well. **My problem is I do not understand the direction of her gameplay as it seems to be making her less unique **giving a person less reason to pick her unless she is over-tuned. For instance why not remove the execute and add a bind to her ultimate? A bind would still be thematic as well as give her back her niche as one of the best at flank engaging in team fights. Honestly I think giving back her stealth pre 6 would be the best thing although I can understand the arguments for why it should be removed.

[sg-lux-2]

[Edit]: For clarification this is not a complaint merely me inquiring as to where the design team thinks her niche is from a gameplay perspective. I do not mind her gameplay changing heavily, it does look fun and personally I think her thematic direction is fantastic, even if her VO is a tad... suggestive, so overall I think you did a good job.

Her passive got nerfed. Very disappointed. That was the one thing I wanted to stay the same.

HalfTangible8 votes

She also gets regen when out of combat w/low health. As for the stealth, it's only nerfed 'till level 6, and she got some new tools in exchange: a charm (which definitely fits on Eve), a slight dash and an escape mixed with an execute in her ulty.

Honestly I find the charm the most interesting change. Her other abilities serve a similar function to their old ones (retooled for a proper assassin in place of a skirmisher, mind: line of spikes for damage, a melee attack for quick damage, an aoe ult that provides her survivability) but the charm is a completely different beast from her old W. You can also get it entirely refunded if you activate it early.

Yeah but she is suppose to be a early lvl ganker because her stealth. What use is that late game?

HalfTangible6 votes

As Reav puts it, her charm is pretty strong for early ganks.

Though I think they're trying to avoid making her SOLELY useful in the early game. She's striking me as more mid-game atm =/

KilljoyX6 votes

Honestly for me this kills the champ. The only reason to pick her was to snowball lanes. Now shes probably fine but i doubt I'll play her at all. Kinda depressing since I was hoping for a more WW style rework instead of a karma like rework.

Passive-Basically obliterated doesn't function for the specific purpose it was created for (early ganks) its essentially turned off for 7 minutes. Q- For some damn reason this is a skill shot now which is again FOR SOME REASON back loaded. W-This whole "Wait for good effect" stuff means unless its excellent as a slow (doesn't seem to be) the skill will be at best useful in lower elo. Leblanc's double dash gameplay is literally the only delayed ability that made its way into coordinated games. E- So instead of keeping her sticky, run you down, bursty dodging ability she had on her W before you just took the flat out lazy way and gave her a dash. "But it has speed" its no where near equivalent. The ability is likely stronger but no where as fun to play. R- This is the only improvement in her kit and because it's flashy it was likely designed with LCS in mind. Although it's unlikely she will see literally any play.

If she sees play I highly doubt she will jg or mid she'll likely go full tank/ap tank top if her bases aren't abysmal.

Beautiful, elegant, deadly.

Her skins are nice, but I'll stick with the base design. Less is more, you know.

I prefer more suggestive wear honestly. I'm saddened by the loss of her BDSM straps.

A matter of aesthetic preference, but I understand your sorrow. It does open up some possibilities for future skins; Blade Queen Evelynn perhaps?

Maybe TF was the only victim who actually survived Evelynn. Though if this was a thing, I feel like there'd be an interaction for it.

can you at least make it so that Evelynn's Tango Skin in game model matches teh splash art?

Who's dat in Masquerade Eve's splash

The alternate universe is a thing, but the idea that there could be someone who actually survived or even outwitted eves seduction like the personality of twisted fate would be pretty cool or even maybe twisted fate was the one who played eve or he was someone she actually felt love for. Still cool that they are a thing alternate universe wise, but actual lore wise could make room for a great story. The story between the two of them if it was a thing is just in tf’s name. Twisted fate. The Idea of twisted fate being known as the one that got away could really piss eve off or not and she could of actually possibly felt like she had a crush on a actual person? And that confuses her. Because she shouldnt ever have a crush on anyone espessially a human. Whatever happens if it makes it into the lore or not I’ll keep this story in my head as the real deal because I just love it.

SoonshiL5 votes

Riot tell us this; Is eve only restricted to Jungling? Cus Most of us would like to play her in lane. Most of us aren't very jungle based... It really excludes us from even trying her out cus of it.... also Before the Rework, she was indeed an AP/AD hybrid champ now, is that still a thing?

YuGiHo5 votes

Her ap ratios and base stats better be insane to justify the increased stealth detection range, forced disengage on ult ,no stealth pre 6, removal of all ad ratios and atk speed steroid that eve has always had completely deleting any type of hybrid itemization and general build diversity eve was always known for.

Another champion to take Charm's uniqueness away....

PokladnicaZla21 votes

You must really dislike stuns and airborn effect then?

NineTailedMystic3 votes

That's not the issue here. Charm was unique to Ahri for years. Then pops Rakan and now new Eve in the same season.

Ralanr20 votes

Recycling is necessary sometimes.

NineTailedMystic4 votes

Just like how they recycled half of Ahri's themes for new Eve? :^)

Regardless, it feels wrong to give other champions the thing Ahri was known for. You see someone is Charmed? Ahri's there. Now it isn't her thing anymore and she has no real defining quality anymore.

I Main Swain28 votes

in all fairness it fits perfectly well with both rakan and eve, i think it would be a little silly to not allow other champions to have it just because its a part of ahri's core theme

NineTailedMystic2 votes

I've been skeptical since Rakan's release that he needed a Charm in his kit, but yes, it does make sense for this new Eve. I just feel like giving these champions Charms is akin to giving a new champion J4's flag drag, Tahm Kench's consume, Aurelion Sol's balls star orbit, Kalista's spear stacking + rend, etc.

It's great that they're working with design space they've left alone, but they've degraded Ahri's defining feature from "Charm" to "annoying mobility".

Malicious Metal21 votes

Lol?

Charm is just a type of CC, it's not a very specific signature move but rather just a form of movement impairing effects.

NineTailedMystic3 votes

You're thinking "it's just a CC, lots of champions have that!", but it's a CC type only Ahri had since she was released which was season 2 iirc. It was iconic. Now all she has is some annoying mobility everyone hates her for and even that's not unique.

Malicious Metal11 votes

A lot of champions have overlapping things in their kits, it's bound to happen with 139+ champions and every new VGU.

She's still Ahri, new champions having charms won't devalue that.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

You're not wrong or anything, I just feel like her kit isn't unique anymore, or at least in an interesting way.

Malicious Metal13 votes

Well, that's your problem then.

Rhaast's passive is just Morde's but with healing instead of shielding and yet I don't think it devalues Morde in any way.
