Tristana's new splash and uncanny valley effect

Is it me or Tristana on the updated splash art looks a little bit more human-like which makes it... creepy?

I mean she totally looks like a cute little creature in her updated ingame model http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oAZCZwOixhI/VLXJoipRZFI/AAAAAAAAheo/itJgIqrVsio/s1600/heyguyswhatisup.jpg

But the new splash art somehow doesn't have that touch. Like something is a bit off. Is it the "hamster cheeks" she has in game? Or a little less detailed-face which makes her less human-like?

I agree. When i saw it I made a "ehhhhhhhhh..... not sure how to feelz" face. The previous splash is great but this seems kind of derpy.

It looks like a human boy. She lacks the yordle and female touch.

Agreed. This splash really did not translate well. I feel like they just tried too hard to remake the last one.

The eyes are dead, and the neck too skinny... that is the problem.

The current pic of her is the same pose but holds a lot more for the character.

Close toed shoes while using explosives makes more sense, armor is much better looking, much more detailed skin and eyes...

Finally someone said it - it is the Uncanny Valley. This should be avoided if possible, I don't know if they're going to rework the splash...

I concur, while I love the VU overall, the new splash is starting to veer into LollyPoppy territory

The "hamster cheeks" are kind of what made the rework adorable, but there are a few other details if you look closely. In the splash, there is very little eye gleam, little to no blush, along with the over-exaggerated face, and heavy shadows...and it is slightly unsettling.

While humanoid, she looks nothing like a real human, she is an obvious caricature. You just don't like it, it is not in any way an effect of the "uncanny valley"

It looks incomplete and rather made last-minute.

Thank god Rito's planning on fixing that, as it won't be out on 5.2.

I think the only reason people don't love this splash is that the other one was so awesome. If this had come out first, and the other one never existed, we wouldn't mind this one. The new trist is just... less awesome. She seems goofy in this splash, whereas before, she looks ready to kick some tail.

I think it all looks great....and for some reason it's reminding me of Gadget from Rescue Rangers.
