Shadow Isles/Black Mist/Khalista speculation collection

While reading through some [email protected] tidbits, I've been able to piece a lot of things together about the lore of the new champion on my own and got some confirmation from other users as well.

7 champion pages are having a black type mist cloud up their artwork. They are either confirmed to have betrayed someone or are speculated to have betrayed someone: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2jgkfa/the_7_shrouded_champions_1_thing_in_common/ Also! Interesting about the Hecarim/Mordekaiser hypothesis, when capturing a Shadow Altar with Hecarim, the spirit says "Mordekaiser is not to be trusted Hecarim!" This plays well into the idea that Hecarim and Mordekaiser were/are allied in some way and that Mordekaiser is planning on betraying Hecarim. Or Hecarim's betrayal is actually towards Mordekaiser, in that he heeds the altar spirit's advice and strikes Mordekaiser before Mordekaiser can do the same. Lots of speculation with Hecarim!

On the Brazilian forums, red user 'Fabulista', is filling a role that we've seen before with the Zaunite Lab Drone for ZAC's reveal. Fabulista speaks of visions of individuals, including "Paladin of Pain" and "Cleric/Lich of Undeath", but also of individuals she has not seen. She is having visions of Shadow Isles characters as well as the 7 betrayers. She is then consumed by the Black Mist ("I am one with the darkness"). The Mist then speaks of not recognizing individuals, and being against those whom it does not recognize. And I think in this way, not "recognize" as in acknowledge, but "recognize" as an ally or in a literal way "I only know those who are for me, who support me".

Maybe the dark clouds on the 7 champion pages are Fabulista's clouded visions of the champions, maybe it represents the Black Mist coming for them. The Mark of the Betrayer is also affiliated with all this, and you can see the promo video on the official League Facebook page, saying "We are vengeance". The Harrowing promo video speaks of Shadow Isle spirits coming to claim the living.

MY OWN HYPOTHESIS: The Black Mist is the way that the Shadow Isles claims souls for itself. We know the Shadow Isles claims to be a cursed land, and from Maokai's lore, we know there was a lot of necromancy that corrupted the lands. I believe the Black Mist is the manifestation of the 'hatred' of the Shadow Isles toward the living, because it was the living that made the Shadow Isles the way they are. Spirits such as Hecarim, Karthus, Mordekaiser, and individuals like Elise, all seek to destroy the living and increase the numbers of the Shadow Isles in this way. When the Black Mist says that Karthus and Mordekaiser march to the same beat, it shows that Karthus and Mordekaiser are trying to claim the living as well. There may be some tension between Mordekaiser and Hecarim, and Hecarim, along with 6 living individuals, all bear the Mark of the Betrayer. Those who bear the Mark of the Betrayer are especially targeted by the Mist, except in Hecarim's case, who seems to lead the Black Mist as shown in the Harrowing video, OR those who bear the Mark are representative of the nature of the living individuals to betray one another. Fabulista, who is clearly a seer, is having visions of these individuals and is consumed by the darkness. Fabulista will probably be a Shadow Isles champion who has a kit revolving around marking individuals with the Mark of the Betrayer, and helping the Black Mist exact vengeance upon the living.

We will have to wait to find out more. I hope you all are as excited as I am for another Shadow Isles champion and to learn more about the lore of the Shadow Isles. I'd like to hear what everyone else has to say about this too! Write your own hypotheses below and let's try to figure out what Riot is teasing so hard about!

http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20141031144750/leagueoflegends/images/d/d1/Mysterious_Woman_2.jpg At first I thought it was the new face to represent evil spirits of the Shadow Isles. But it can't be. It's a woman's face. Strange. Also, I believe the black mist is what killed everything on the Shadow Isles. Maybe Narrative was on something after all.

So im guessing the King ordered his mages to perform a ritual to revive someone,, but instead let loose an uncontrollable force, known as the black mist. Which is said to contain 15,000 souls. Something fabullista mentioned. The mysterious dead woman is collective souls of those who have betrayed people.

I believe there's a theory that Kalista is the mist itself, poessing Fabulista as a base, and spreading to your teammates in a soulbound-esque gimmick.

I wish we were gonna have some big revelation on the Halloween night or right after... but nope, that would be something too good for Riot Narrative/Lore standards...

I'm still waiting for this week since there is the "excuse" of the weekend.

I would really like some insider on SI since Mordekaiser is my second favorite champ :D

Black Mist theory:

It just came to my mind that the Black Mist might be part of what Mordekaiser armor was "sealing" inside. This works as a good reminder of his old lore: "The common perception is that the encompassing armor protects him, I fear that – for the fragile time being – it actually protects us."

Plus, what the Black Mist does is tearing away and enslave the souls of the ppl it meets, something very similar to Children of the Grave.

Mordekaiser quest at this point might be to find a way to re-seal the Mist in order to get back its power, but since that might convert the Shadow Islands back to the former aspect and erase undeath by these lands other SI Champions are going against him.
