This difference is just so astounding I don't even know what to think of it. Like the sci-fi literaturew is FULL of machines achieving sentinence and power for seemingly limitless self-improvement, usually as villains or a crisis to overcome. And Zaun is just like "nah, he's cool."

SaltyToplaneGoat2 votesHe needs a rework so badly, visually and mechanically. Personally, I'd love a steam/heat/pressure system like rumble has it, it makes so much sense for a steam golem. And change his ult from a electric field to a massive release of super-hot steam (also VERY painfull), size and power depending on how much pressure was stored.

I do like the ideas you come up with. It'd be awesome if he had quotes like "yes, i'm sentient. What do you care?"
Sharjo3 votesWell I mean we have yet to make such a being exist yet have hypothesized and feared it for a long arse time. Zaun made one accidentally and it just ended up following in the footsteps of the man who made it to a degree, so what's the reason to despise Blitz?
Also evil robots is such a tired ass trope. I'm very happy that Blitzcrank couldn't be further away from that idea.

Mogarl1 votesI like to think this fear is justified. The reality of it is that in an AU where Blitzcrank helps Viktor create more Blitzcranks it sends the world spiraling down the path of BC/Mecha/Program/Project.

Mogarl1 votesNot sure, I have a fair bit of more lengthy thoughts on the subject of a human like AI that are part of my statement. In short, I don't believe that our world is ready for the ethical treatment of such entities, and this was lead to a lot of problems if they were produced on a large scale. I feel a bit of that fear can carry over to Zaun/Piltover.
Had Blitzcrank aided Viktor in making more intelligent golems would Zaun/Piltover been able to exist happily with them? Or would it have ended up as a system of slavery over these intelligent machines?
It could end up as a glorious future but I'm mostly looking at Mecha Zero Sion. A universe where machine sentience goes horribly wrong.

Blitz is assembled by Viktor, yet somehow he implements it with a single desire that ultimately evolves into its full fledged AI. How exactly? I just wish there was an actual explanation behind that. Was it the soul of a deceased Brakern within a Hex crystal that gives blitz his AI? Did Viktor get his hands on the alien artifact from Loki's scepter? Magic? ... Or was it just simply Vik's ingenuity? If so some detail behind that. I believe it's hinted that when Blitzcrank removed all of his limiting factors he also removed any limitation to his desire, which evolved in to true sentience with time.

Right yes, I know Blitz makes his own free will from the limited/constricting version Vik had already implemented (kudos to our boy Vik). But creating sentience must be a very difficult thing to do in a Fantasy setting. And as obvious as it is that sentience can be created in Runeterra there still isnt much conext behind the process of doing so. That's all i was hoping for....

SaltyToplaneGoat1 votesThe real issue is something else: what if sentinence was nothing special? What if ANY robot could achieve sentience if it was just complex enough to do the calculations for it?
This is the reasons humans despise AIs: because it would mean that we ourselves are nothing more than biological machines, and the thought doesn't sit well with some people, especially religous ones...
SaltyToplaneGoat1 votesPersonally I think he didn't remove ALL limites - just the ones he could percieve and deemed necessary to remove. At some point, Blitzcrank will face a problem that will require as corporal self-update, which will help until he encounters an even bigger problem, and so on and so on. No one knows what stands at the end of this development, but if there was a character that could develop the potential to stand next to Aurelion Sol or Bard in terms of power level... the potential is there. it would just take decades if not centuries of self-updating, constant learning and others like Viktor helping him.
Blitzcrank will always do what helps. And if that means achieving robotic transcendence, so be it.
