... but I personally feel like he was inspired more by the Greek god Hephaestus. I mean, he's a fire/volcano god who lives inside of a volcano, and he is also the world's greatest blacksmith. He can even upgrade and create super powerful weapons just like how Hephaestus created godly weapons like Zeus's Lightning bolt, Poseidon's Trident, and Hades's invis cap.

Edit: Hephaestus never made the godly weapons. They were instead made by the Cyclops who joint Hephaestus after he was born.

If anything he's just an amalgamation of smithing archetypes.

I think he is more of a combination of Norse and Greek to be honest. He has a Norse theme to him, while having Greek elements about him.

Man, I really hate to be that guy, but Hephaestus didn't make the Master Bolt, the Trident, or the Helm of Darkness. Those were actually created by cyclops that turned on the Titans.

don't know, the teaser music had a lot of celtic vibes. and its more likely that celts and norse are somewhat related in culture due to being 'close by' as opposed to greeks

I personally think he is based on Thor, with his hammer and his skin. In the real Norse mythology Thor has a short hammer, red hair, red beard and red glowing eyes. Ornn is probably based on the god Thor.

It may be many gods. I'm not entirely sure which one because he still ends up as a small guy but i doubt his story is as tragic as Hephaestus'.

Well pretty much every polytheistic religion had at least one god of smithing/artisans/craftmanship. Egyptians had one, I'm pretty sure Hinduism has one as well.

Both the Norse Brokkr and the greek hephaestus weren't really muscled in early depictions.

He seemed more like a Dwarf from the Norse Mythology to me, with both the Elements of Fire and the Creation of Superior Artifacts like Mjollnir, Gungnir or Gullinborsti. Additional, he is rather short and stout which gives him a Dwarf-like appearance
