... but I personally feel like he was inspired more by the Greek god Hephaestus. I mean, he's a fire/volcano god who lives inside of a volcano, and he is also the world's greatest blacksmith. He can even upgrade and create super powerful weapons just like how Hephaestus created godly weapons like Zeus's Lightning bolt, Poseidon's Trident, and Hades's invis cap.

Edit: Hephaestus never made the godly weapons. They were instead made by the Cyclops who joint Hephaestus after he was born.

That's true. I don't know anything about Norse mythology so that's why he gave me Heph-fuck-typing-this-name vibes but I knew that a lot of him was inspired by norse.

I was just stating my thoughts on him. Never said that what other people said was wrong. He is obviously Nordic inspired but seems to have a lot of Greek influence.

Like what for example? The only thing that Ornn and Hephaestus have in common is that they are both blacksmith gods(or demigod in Ornns case)

This guy hit the nail on the head.

The mythos and archetype of a smithing god creating divine armaments is something throughout all religions and mythologies. Even ones without a direct "God of smithing" usually have stories about a god(s) coming down and bestowing divine weaponry or armor to someone.

I think he is more of a combination of Norse and Greek to be honest. He has a Norse theme to him, while having Greek elements about him.

In fairness many scholars believe both Norse and Greek mythology developed out of the same proto-indo-European root religion. So there are a lot of broad similarities even when the details are different.

Man, I really hate to be that guy, but Hephaestus didn't make the Master Bolt, the Trident, or the Helm of Darkness. Those were actually created by cyclops that turned on the Titans.

don't know, the teaser music had a lot of celtic vibes. and its more likely that celts and norse are somewhat related in culture due to being 'close by' as opposed to greeks

It may be many gods. I'm not entirely sure which one because he still ends up as a small guy but i doubt his story is as tragic as Hephaestus'.

Well pretty much every polytheistic religion had at least one god of smithing/artisans/craftmanship. Egyptians had one, I'm pretty sure Hinduism has one as well.

Both the Norse Brokkr and the greek hephaestus weren't really muscled in early depictions.

He seemed more like a Dwarf from the Norse Mythology to me, with both the Elements of Fire and the Creation of Superior Artifacts like Mjollnir, Gungnir or Gullinborsti. Additional, he is rather short and stout which gives him a Dwarf-like appearance

I personally think he is based on Thor, with his hammer and his skin. In the real Norse mythology Thor has a short hammer, red hair, red beard and red glowing eyes. Ornn is probably based on the god Thor.
