Saying we know nothing of Rammus is not Lore and Rammus fans are tired of it

I just noticed the short form lore that was put out for Rammus before what I assume is going to be a longer version later on. Once again, I am incredibly disappointed. It looks like Riot's answer to us knowing about League's main protagonist is "nobody knows."

Riot is literally the creator of his backstory. The fact that nobody knows is because THEY are refusing to actually give anything of substance on this character. Can you imagine if they did this for every character?

"Nobody knows anything about _____. We hope you enjoyed this story."

Here is the PBE text on his lore below. Apparently the joke about Rammus saying OK is so strong that there never actually needs to be anything meaningful written about the character. His millions of fans will undoubtedly be thrilled.

Rammus ''OK.'' Idolized by many, dismissed by some, mystifying to all, the curious being, Rammus, is an enigma. Protected by a spiked shell, Rammus inspires increasingly disparate theories on his origin wherever he goes - from demigod, to sacred oracle, to a mere beast transformed by magic. Whatever the truth may be, Rammus keeps his own counsel and stops for no one as he roams the desert.

Well how about looking at it this way: there'll be something more substantial very soon considering the fact this is on the pbe means his long lore's gonna be out soon. We'll see what that actually tells, if anything.

I think it fits him. Like, imagine someone trying to talk to him about his past.

"What are you?"

"..."

"Where do you come from?"

"..."

"What turned you into what you are?"

"..."

"Fine, forget I asked."

"Ok."

I think Rammus is going to be revealed to be some kind of half-assed ascension/ascension fuck up. Aurleion Sol has a quote towards Rammus regarding ascension and we are going to get more Shurima lore with the Taliyah release.

Am I the only one that likes how bullshit it is? It kinda fits his character, and how you feel when playing him. "Rammus keeps his own counsel and stops for no one as he roams the desert" Reminds me a lot of Mundos "goes where he pleases". And let's face it, Rammus too goes where he pleases.

On that note I demand a Hot Wheels SKin. Vroom Vroom Vroom.

Rammus is the Shuriman Evelynn. This line here especially bothers me:

"...Rammus keeps his own counsel..."

Say what? In his original lore he was stated to be a mere creature changed by the magic that runs wild south of the Barrier. He was always demonstrated as a character who is only barely...sapient...if that's the word. And now they're making him capable of secrets and withholding counsel while simultaneously leaving absolutely nothing for the playerbase to read into to learn more about his character?

Come on. [zombie-brand-clap]

The problem they have with Rammus is that (much like Taric) his personality and entire character theme was created by the community, not by Riot. Rammus is pretty much universally known as "OK." While he has his kit of being the "I'm going to make you kill yourself" niche, his overall personality is based on that ONE line. If Riot tried to create a new full lore with him, they'd have a dang hard time actually getting it right without destroying his only-says-one-word identity.

But who would ...main ... Rammus ??

Look as an Rammus Main, I want too see more characterization of him. the story about him is just , Ok, ok ok. And really, it's annoying to not know about his retconned origins, his motives and what drives him apart from half-assed explanations.

I hate Rammus because he's so absurd. I want him toned down a bit and brought into the fold as a more serious character instead of a walking mascot. Don't get me wrong, I love lighthearted characters and goofiness, but Rammus is just too over the top and goofiness is the only thing that defines him in this world that's not really got that level of goofiness anywhere else.

I think you're missing the point of what they're doing by leaving Rammus unexplained. Our world is full of mysteries. By extension, a good fantasy world should also have mysteries if it emulates our world. Rammus is an answer to that. We don't know anything about him. Is that a bad thing? Not at all. We know next to nothing about deep sea creatures, giant squids, etc. and that's what makes them so fascinating. The mystery surrounding Rammus, in my opinion, gives him more depth that just giving him another ascended backstory or something. He's open to interpretation, which is something every good fantasy should have some of.

uhm while I can see your point, think about it from riot's point of view... currently they take over 2 months to create characters and I think that a lot of thought goes into character lore, how to insert them and how their look must change in order to make them fit into the world, Rammus on the other hand was created a long time ago in the spurt of the moment, despite this he has quite a fanbase that loves his simple character and a lot of these also love that there's not much to read about the spiky little dude, as a matter of fact I believe a lot of people would be mad if Riot decided to add VO lines to Rammus :/

So they can mess with the flavor of that soup that has a lot of fans or they can keep it the way it is...
