Hey guys! I just noticed this is posted here as well and i am really glad you all like it :) Just to mention that i have uploaded and design for the champion select screen: http://imgur.com/gallery/k5fpJt7

What i was thinking is that i could add more icons on the left for to click and select what position you want to play. I didnt, because then it would look pretty clumsy and too much information going around, but if you think that would be no problem i can share screenshot how could it look like!

I'd also enjoy a way to signal our main Champions and our preferred roles, in a vaguely Teambuilder sort of way. Little icons in our boxes would work. (To clarify: I'm not talking about a Team Builder-style queue where you pick your Champion beforehand. I'm just talking about a clearer, more graphical way to automatically display your preferences to your team without having to type "top plz" every match.)

Right now, I find that I end up typing out the same "prefer mid/support, can also top" messages every match, and scrolling up and down trying to remember who wants what. Showing preferred Champions would help with team synergy, and also perhaps help communicate "don't ban ___ please" to the captain.

If you want to get real fancy, maybe have these icons be clickable, so that in addition to showing our standard preferences we can also indicate what we're currently planning in this particular match.

95% of the ideas in this thread are gold and i really hope riot takes this thread and these suggestions seriously. This all would facilitate a much better pick ban phase for everyone and avoid a lot of the fights confusion and flaming if people didn't have to take care of so much with a group of strangers. Remember there's only one team captain for this phase and 4 strangers (this aint an lcs team with prepared strategies and picks/bans) , i know we all need to come together as a team, but that should happen in game and would occur much easier if people weren't fighting about roles and characters before hand and could focus on the actual game and what they are all going to be doing.

Select screen could be way better. Especially in how they arrange champions and how you pick Runes/Masteries. Champions should have some option to sort according to role or even a custom sorting (like, you have a favorites tab, meta support tab, non-meta support, w/e you want), and some people have lots of masteries and just have to scroll through it trying to find the right one or editing one.

Looks like it's showing too much information on the sides.

However, the general design is nice, especially in which it matches with the theme of the new client.

What should also be included is a way to favorite champions, and those will display at the top of the pool of whose available. Everyone has their favorites they play and this would allow easy selection of them.

I like it!! Also to eliminate the "DONT BAN XYZ" the soft champion select has been a favorite solution I've seen or heard about.

When the room opens.. People pick their champs, once everyone has a champ preemptive champion picked, bans begin.. The champs selected are kind of grayed out.. This gives the team captain an idea of what his team will be going, the teams strengths and weaknesses, and bans can occur accordingly. .. Or easier.. Once bans are created, each person clicks their champion in current/modern day order, and onward you go. I don't see any issue with making things easier and more time efficient..
