I think there's a really cool possibility for the Female Darkin, that we haven't seen yet.

So, as of the moment, we have three situations with our three Darkin, which all separate themselves from each other.

Aatrox is a fully in control Darkin, years of experience of corrupting and taking over Hosts.

Kayn and Rhaast, are a pair fighting for control for either the power of the Scythe, or Kayn's entire body and mind.

Varus and his two gay roomies, are contesting Va(a)rus for Duo Control over the body that was morphed from them. hoping to find a way to free themselves.

From Varus's short story, he mentioned that he had a 'Sister', more likely meaning 'Sister of my Kind' than an actual blood relative, and he seeks to search her out. Maybe she can help him suppress the two voices in his head that are constantly wrestling for control, and making kissey faces at each other when he's not looking. Maybe together, they can go ruthlessly killing abroad. Obviously he needs her for something, but what if this Female Darkin ends up being something....new.

Imagine this Female Darkin, not just being a fully Formed in-control Darkin like Aatrox, but a fully cooperative team? This might step on Kai'sa toes a little, but I think there's a large enough difference that it's possible. For one, we could get more fantastic double-dialouge that Rhaast and Kayn brag, and I'll point you to my name for my opinion on that.

  • We could have stories of the female Darkin's Host/Partner, actively trying to help her free the Darkin from the Weapon, or maybe through the years of being trapped, she finds peace and self-reflection, that maybe they deserved to be trapped in these weapons, for all the War they had brought after Azir's rule. She chooses to protect the Mortals she once fought to try and enslave, by forming a compatible relationship with her Host

  • The Host could be Shuriman as well, leading to this "Old-New" relationship between the two. The Darkin could be a Teacher to a younger girl, or possibly, it could be a much older wiser woman, who teaches the Darkin as many lessons as the Darkin would her. Even with an older Host, you could have wonderful quips like: "Back in my day this Land was a beautiful Oasis." Host: "Back in my day it was sand. Still is sand. The past is not as good as it always seems."

  • They make an awesome anti-thesis, to not only Aatrox, not only Kayn, but all three of them. Aatrox stewed away in his imprisonment, becoming further and further more enraged midst his suffering, while she reflected on their actions that lead them to being entrapped. Kayn and Rhaast are in a constant dick measuring contest of Wills, each trying to Suppress the other, while she and her host are mutual friends. Varus wants revenge on those who imprisoned and slaughtered them, or mortals in general, while She chooses to protect the Mortals who she once tried to enslave.

  • You could have so much fun dialouge. Since I'm rolling with the idea of it being an Older Woman Host, you could have them talking to each other like two Grannies drinking tea with each other. Interactions with other Darkins, the two of them scolding them for acting like "Children". A sympathetic line towards Kayn, trying to convince him to put down the Scythe, or maybe even thinking she's to blame in a round-about way "If we were better, you'd never have been in this conflict, Child.."

  • Or let's focus more on the Relationship between the two.

** Host: **"I am not long for this World, -Darkin Name-.." -----Darkin: "Please do not say such things, -Host name-, you still have many years ahead."

Host: "When it is my time, I offer you my Body -DN-." -----Darkin: "Your body means nothing without your Spirit, -HN-."

Darkin: "Azir! He lives!?" ----Host: "All that glimmers is not gold -DN-.....is he wearing Gold?"

Darkin: "Once we were Gods amongst mortals, so foolishly fighting one another like rabid dogs." ----Host: "It seems Old Dogs can learn new tricks afterall."

  • The fact that she opens up a third potential story line arc for Kayn to follow. Where a potential mutual understanding is found between the him and Rhaast. Lemme just flood my sheer excitement with rough interactions between Her and Kayn.

Interaction with Kayn

Darkin: "Oh gods, what has Rhaast gotten himself into now..." ----Host: "A Scythe apparently." --------Darkin: Laughs

Host: "Child, lusting for power will only allow him to claim more of you." ----- Darkin: "You have more in common that you two might not see."

A Kayn on either team transforms into SA/Running into SA Kayn

Darkin: "Do you feel that -HN-? Runeterra just got...quieter." ----Host: "It seems we underestimated that child."

Host: "Better Rhaast conquered than for him to run amok." ----Darkin: "Yes but....he once was an friend." --------Host: "Oh...I'm..sorry."

A Kayn on either team Transforms into Rhaast/Running into Rhaast.

Darkin: "This feeling...Rhaast has come." ----Host: "Foolish child, we shall correct his mistake."

Host: "Rhaast, that stolen body will not last forever." ----Darkin: "Let alone the next few seconds."

Alright, this is enough for now. But with all that, I hope I've inspired in you just how much excitement this idea brings me. There is so much possibility with these this champion, it would actually be a detriment for her to be released, I'd be too torn amongst the two for who to main. I don't know what weapon or form she'd take shape in, maybe a spear would suit her best. I'd love to keep talking about this in the comments.

I like it.

A similar kind of setup was what Harry Dresden had in Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files. He had an imprint of a demon in his mind that initially offered him great power in an attempt to corrupt him, but eventually deviated from her original plan as she grew to care for Dresden.

I think that kind of a theme might work for a Darkin and their host. Instead of actively fighting the host body, the Darken grew to appreciate their input and shares the body to accomplish their mutual goals.

Valeeva is his actual sister though, as told to us in the Twilight of the Gods story. She was one of the ones who escaped the Twilight Aspect Myisha's extermination of the gathered Darkin. Varus, Aatrox, Rhaast, and an undisclosed number of other Darkin didn't attend the summit that Myisha called, so they didn't die by simply not being there - but Myisha clearly encountered them later and entrapped them.

doesnt really fit the idea of darkin because if this one was so caring why would she be turned into a weapon(or whatever you want to call that process) and seeing how another murderous darkin is looking for her i highly doubt that this would occur.

I love the idea and the overall direction as well as how this story would differeciate from the other Darkin, which actually would show that they were once noble men and women like the rest of the Mortals.

I also find that the personality you developed for both of these characters is really funny and fitting.

There was once a concept posted onto here of a female Support Darkin using a whip weapon and the main thing was the Darkin and Human host could swap between each other for healing or damaging abilities. I don't know if body swapping is something Riot wants the Darkin to be able to do, but I love the thought of it and of a Host and Darkin having a Mutualistic Symbiotic relationship.

Huh, I never thought of it like that. That could be fascinating to see an actual willing host, but even more so a Darkin That after years of inprisonment actually values this little humans life.

Weapons don't have genders. All wielders of "darkin" are in fact just powerful mages who went insane due to the burden of their power and became warped, people took to calling such people "darkin" because the reality that they just went crazy is an uncomfortable thought for most of Runeterra.

I don't like this Soraka-like kind Darkin i'm picturing in my head.

While a compatible Host-Darkin relationship would be interesting, the Darkin are Void Ascended, no? There is no reason why they would be able to suppress their innate desire for destruction. It is hardwired into being a voidborn.

And if anything, i would not like another comical duo like Rhaast and Kayn are exclusively depicted as. It'd be pretty boring imo. A more desperate, serious struggle would be cool but then again, it's another Kayn in a more serious tone that isn't very interesting either for the majority of players and conceptually, to myself.

I really like this idea. Unfortunately, i dont think riot's bold enough to do it, let alone good enough to make it work. They like predictable and already-done shit like

"Hey guess what here's a void survivor but human" 'is she corrupted and like... half-mutant or at least kinda evil and mind-warped from her time there?' "Haha wait did we say void we meant generic tunnel that had some void creatures in it. Shes a supermodel in a skin-tight suit whos completely uneffected by literally anything canon about the void" 'oh.'

"Hey here's a rework to urgot, you know that creepy tormented fleshbag that was reincarnated in a frankenstien fashion? we're remaking him!" 'Oh awesome a weird non-humanoid human monster! Sure, sion has the Frankenstein reincarnation kinda gimmick but shit man this could be weird and creepy' "HAHA NO. HOW BOUT LITERALLY JUST BANE, BUT WITH CRAB LEGS" (albeit the shotgun knees are kinda unique) 'oh'

I like the idea of a laciel-style relationship, and a non horrible darkin (I mean, old varus's demon was at least helping him before consuming him, they had a weird symbiotic relationship: "i'll help you because of our shared interests. i dont NEED to, i could just take u over and do what i want, but i'll give you the wish to take down noxus with your borrowed time, and when you're done i'll take your body for my own" now it's literally just "LET ME TAKE YOUR BODY I AM A DEMON I WANT A B O D Y give me it cause I'M E V I L" and the human side are just predictably as always the "no because the POWER OF LOVE says u cant" and i'm willing to bet that they're the first darkin champ to be confirmed to lose to the human in the end (though in the long future, lore-wise, so the champ itself is unaffected in the long run. Kayn might break free too or might not, lore could swing either way.) so the whole "power of love and friendship beats unbeatable evil" trope continues

Sorry i'm ranting a whole lot. As a bit of a writer, its just annoying to see overdone tropes time and time again.

See, if they DID do this type of champ, here's the trope they'll use this time "Big bad bully becomes good guy because hero proves that anyone can be not bad if they just try" Sources: Inheritance Cycle books (Eragon convinces Murtagh, etc), Deltarune (game), Undertale (game), fuckin How The Grinch Stole Christmas did this for crying out loud. Dude didn't you read Varus' comic? Varus' sister is on the loose and she was freed before Cassiopeia and Sivir visited the temple in which she was originally trapped.
