So everyone has probably bought something like a item 3083 or item 3089, and those kinds of items have a theme to them, their titles. For instance, the items have a name in them such as Warmog and Rabadon. From what I heard, these items are usually named after players who have done something special, such as Grez, who referred 1000 people, and Grez's Spectral Lantern. (Yes, I know Grez the Lizard Lord was named after Grez first and the item was named after him when the camp was removed, but same concept.) Wouldn't it be interesting though, if some of the characters named in these items became champions? Not just for the sake of becoming champions, but if their item gave them a base for how their kit would work. For instance, Rabadon of item 3089 would be a burst mage.

Many people speculate that the Ruined King will one day become a champion with how much Shadow Isles champions reference him, but Riot has said that he isn't in the works right now.

A lot of these items are named after real people, like you mentioned.

Guinsoo was one of the original gameplay designers on League. Randuin used to be on the Lore staff, IIRC, and ran a database for RP characters. So did Shurelia of Shurelia's Reverie, which isn't listed. The Morellonomicon is named after RiotMorello. Runaan works on Narrative stuff, she's a real person. Athene's Unholy Grail is also named after the streamer Athene.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a reference to DOTA's "Crystal Maiden", whose real name is Rylai. She's ice themed and has a lot of slows and whatnot.

Doran is already a canon character, he's a master artificer who was left crippled for life after a horse kicked him in the head. (It was in the JoJ) He was friends with Master Yi, and made Wukong's staff.

Some, however, like Rabadon's and Lord Dominik's are, as far as I know, not related to real people or referencing characters at all, and could totally be made into champs, I suppose. I think it could be an interesting idea to try.

Zeke's was an award to the Artist behind the webcomic Ctrl+alt+Del for getting an obscene amount of friend referrals. It is named after a character from his comic Zeke a Xbox Robot.
