[Quick Champion Concept] Geiravor, the Frozen Spear of Freljord

DISCLAIMER This concept is my way of trying to get my creativity to kick start. To get the imagination juices flowing if you will. So it may lack a lot of what my other champion concepts usually have. For example, I would (and probably should have) come up with a better title for Geiravor rather than "Frozen Spear of Freljord", but it is a literal meaning as well as a simple one. Geiravor is the Frozen Spear of Freljord as she uses a spear and ice powers. So while not the most original, it is simple enough to get the point across. Same with the name "Geiravor" which is the name of a Valkyrie which roughly translates to "Spear-Goddess". I pronounce it as "Gi-air-a-vore".

Additionally, I use images I find via google image search to use as a reference to my champion concepts. So, any credit for the picture should go to the proper artists. Whoever they may be. I take no credit in creating the picture at all. My only credit I choose to take is on the champion concept itself. Nothing else. The images used, and icons, are not mine and I am simply using them to give visual aid to my champion. Additionally, not all icons may represent the ability perfectly. They are simply a reference. Might have to just use your imagination if that does happen. Thank you.

Lore I remember the war. It was brutal. Devastating. the love of my life, Aria, killed by that barbaric woman and her sister. Yes, Serylda and Avarosa. I will never forgive them. Aria was the only one who was able to melt the coldness around my heart, and they had killed her. She was simply attending to a village struck by the war. Healing those in need, and helping any who were too hurt to help themselves. Their combined forces swept in and slaughtered everyone. Including her. Defenseless and non hostile. My heart hardened unlike it had before. A glacier within a tundra.

In these moments I saw herLissandra . She stood by The Watchers side. Continued to fight on. I knew what I must do. I fought with her. The Watchers had granted me the powers, I simply had to use them. There was no more time for despair. My loves body now entombed in the proper way of her people I grabbed my spear, Svellgeirr (Ice Spear), and my shield Allrvoror (All Guard). With them at my side the enemy soon began to dwindle. Svellgeirr tasted much blood in those days. It was near the end of the war that it happened. I became trapped. Forever suspended in True Ice. Or so I thought.

Overtime my senses began to return to me. I began to feel the world around me. Learn of what beset the world. During these times I heard their voices. They called to me. Talked to me. Kept me company. The Watchers. They spoke of their return. They had lost, but not indefinitely. The world thought them dead. They were very much alive, and they were angry. This anger fed my own. I could do nothing but watch the world pass me by and listen to their words, until now.

They released me. Finally they had enough of a grip in this world, but just enough, to free me. The cold air hit my face. The Freljord. Once again I walk upon it. I breathed the air deep in my lungs. The air was sweet and tasted of the frozen north. I smiled what could only be described as a predator ready to hunt. It was to Lissandra's citadel that I went. It was where I was told to go. The Watchers had already sent what little word they could ahead. What little they were able to manage before returning to the Abyss was enough to free me, another of their Iceborn, to help Lissandra. To aid her in her endeavors. To be her Spear and Shield. To strike at her enemies. To guard against their attacks. It came as no surprise that Lissandra knew of my coming. She welcomed me to her halls, and with me at her side now, there was much still left to do.

The Watchers will return.

"Nothing is colder than the loss I bear in my heart," - Geiravor, the Frozen Spear of Freljord

Appearance http://in1.ccio.co/Q7/tB/q1/56e06fc00af136501a63b23ef323a598.jpg?iw=300 This is roughly what Geiravor looks like. It is pretty close to what I envisioned her to look like. There are some differences from the picture however. One of which is how Geiravor is Iceborn and so she has the typical pale blue skin. She also has dark blue hair instead of the brown depicted. The markings on her face are icy blue which is slightly darker than her pale blue skin instead of the reddish brown of the picture. Her eyes are also white/silver, which the picture slightly resembles.

Her spear is also made of True Ice, and so takes on their properties. Her shield is also laced with True Ice and so also takes on their properties. This is the basis for Geiravor's appearance.

When Geiravor moves she runs upright with her shield arm at her side and spear rested, but at the ready. If she is chasing an enemy she is shown to hold her shield before her. A nice little detail in my opinion.

STATS Health: 600-2150 Health Regen: 7-20 Mana: 350-800 Mana Regen: 5-16 Armor: 25-87 Magic Resist: 32.1-53.4 Attack Damage: 60-110 Attack Speed: 0.65-1.0 Attack Range: 175 Movement Speed: 345 Primary Role: Fighter Secondary Role: Tank

Quick Synopsis Geiravor is a strong, durable fighter who has been battled hardened in the Freljord. Quick and deadly with her spear she uses her powers of Ice to enhance her already strong physical attributes. Able to imbue Svellgeirr and Allrvoror to great effect she makes battling her one on one extremely painful if not prepared. Geiravor takes to Top lane with these skills as well as finding herself in the Jungle or Bot lane.

Passive http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/6/icons_5350_btn.jpg Sheltered Spike Geiravor uses Svellgeirr and Allrvoror in an effective combo. Thrusting from behind a strong defense. Damage taken from the front and left side is reduced. Additionally, Svellgeirr pierces her target when she attacks, hitting the first enemy behind them for half the damage done to the target.

Reduced Damage: 2-36% (Roughly 2% Growth Rate per level) Reduced Damage from all sources when taking damage from her Front or Left side.

AoE Reduced Damage: In regards to AoE damage such as Karma's Inner Flame/Soulflare or Brand's Pillar of Flame, the same thing applies, but on a lesser scale. AoE damage is reduced by 1-10% (Roughly 0.6% Growth Rate per Level).

Animation/Visual The visual of Sheltered Spike is an ice line along these areas which radiates an icy fog. Allrvoror and Svellgeirr also give off this fog. Additionally, Geiravor's basic attacks is her bringing up her shield and piercing from behind it it.

Q http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/9/icons_8142_btn.jpg Tundra Sentinel Passive Geiravor may choose one ally champion who she becomes the "Sentinel" of for the entirety of the game. Doing so grants them the buff "Guarded". When within 1000 units of Geiravor 2/4/6/8/10% of all damage they take is negated to Geiravor. Geiravor moves 5/10/15/20/25% faster towards her "Guarded" ally if they are within 2000 units of Geiravor.

Active Geiravor enhances Allrvoror becoming a walking fortress of True Ice. During this time Sheltered Spike envelopes Geiravor all around. Enemies who attack Geiravor during this time become "Frozen". Upon being "Frozen" they are stunned for 0.5s and damaged for 60/90/120/150/180 (+30% AD)(+50% AP) Magic Damage.

Enemies "Frozen" become "Thawed" afterwords and cannot be "Frozen" for 1s.

"Guarded" allies while Tundra Sentinel is activated are granted half of Sheltered Spikes passive Damage Reduction while within 1000 units of Geiravor and have a "ghostly" version of the shield surrounding them.

Cost: 80/85/90/95/100 Duration: 2/3/4/5/6s Cooldown: 16s

Animation/Visual Upon initiating this ability a True Ice shield forms around Geiravor. The ice line which indicates Sheltered Spike moves around Geiravor, completing a circle and then shoots upward to just about her shoulders. Think Braums shield, but smaller and thinner, surrounding Geiravor close to her body.

W http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/13/icons_12927_btn.jpg Glacial Onslaught Geiravor enhances Svellgeirr dealing deadly and fast attacks. During this time Geiravor increases her attack speed, slowing enemies hit, and increases her piercing ability.

Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 Duration: 3s Increased Attack Speed: 10/20/30/40/50% Slow on Hit: 10/15/20/25/30% for 1s. Reapplies if hit consecutively. Applies to those hit with the Pierced attack, but at half the slow. Piercing: Increases Sheltered Spike's passive by allowing Geiravor to hit two enemies behind her target instead of just one. Cooldown: 18/16/14/12/10s

Animation/Visual Svellgeirr lets off more icy fog and begins glowing icy blue. Her attacks become furious as she stabs faster than before. Each hit lets off a small explosion of ice which applies the slow. The slow looks much like that of other ice items which provides a slow.

E http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/12/icons_11961_btn.jpg Frigid Spear Geiravor channels ice into a spear and throws it in target 700 unit direction. Traveling in target direction it pierces all enemies it comes in contact with dealing 60/100/160/200/240 (+80% AD) physical damage.

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 Cooldown: 16/14/12/10/8s

Animation/Visual Ice forms around Svellgeirr, enveloping it. She then acts as if she is throwing Svellgeirr, but instead of Svellgeirr being thrown it is the ice which had formed around Svellgeirr. This then pierces through all targets with each target being hit having a small explosion of ice animation when they are hit and take damage.

R http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/resource_images/16/icons_15717_btn.jpg For Aria! Geiravor goes into a rage shouting "For Aria!" as she takes on a True Ice armor form that envelops all of her, including her weapon and shield. Losing her passive damage reduction, but gaining greater physical abilities.

Cost: 100/125/150 Critical Strike Chance: Critical strike chance is doubled for the duration. Critical Damage: Critical strikes deal 10/30/50% more damage.

If Geiravor is within 1000 units of her "Guarded" ally she gains additional effects.

Bonus Attack Damage: 50/100/150 Bonus Lifesteal: All Lifesteal is multiplied by 1.5/2/2.5. Movement Speed: Tundra Sentinel's passive movement speed towards "Guarded" ally is doubled. Taunt: Enemies who attack the "Guarded" ally when Geiravor is within 600 units of them are taunted into attacking Geiravor instead for 1s.

Duration: 6s Cooldown: 100/90/80s

Animation/Visual Upon activation True Ice armor forms around Geiravor. For those familiar with the manga or anime Naruto, then thing of it as a sort of Susanoo. The True Ice armor's appearance is just an extension of Geiravor herself. So it looks just like her, but only in the form of True Ice. Her markings on her face also glow during this time. Her eyes also begin glowing as well, giving off a white/silver fire.

Upon Selection "May my spear freeze your foes." if heard by only the summoner. "You shall freeze under Svellgeirr." If heard by everyone.

"I stand by your side, Lissandra." "You shall pay for your ancestors folly!" In rage towards Ashe and Sejuani. "Everything will turn to ice." "I need not for fire. The flame I once held has been extinguished. That was their mistake." A taunt/quote which means that those who killed her love/wife Aria made a mistake in doing so as it unleashed Geiravor's rage and snuffed out the last vestiges of love and compassion.

Personality Geiravor is a cold, deadly hunter. She cares not for anyone. Not even The Watchers who gave her the powers which she has, nor Lissandra who she follows and guards. However, though she may not care for them she does respect them and owes them much. Owes the Watchers for the power and Lissandra for giving her a purpose after Aria was killed. Thus, because of this she cares not that the world turns to Ice, or even Flame. Since Aria's death there is nothing left for her to continue on, yet she is ageless. Though because of what she owes to the Watchers and Lissandra, she sides with them. For now, that gives her some purpose.

These things together make Geiravor extremely icy and cold hearted. She kills without hesitation anyone who stands in her way.

Allies Lissandra Brand Enemies Ashe Sejuani

Allies and Enemies Explained Lissandra is obvious, so I will focus on Brand first. As stated, Geiravor cares not whether the world is turned to Ice or is Burned and in facts wishes it would. Therefore, though Geiravor has had no interaction with him, Brand is an ally in this regard because of his want to burn the world to ashes. For the most part she fights against him though whenever Lissandra and him are against each other.

Though they are not Serylda and Avarosa she still hates them with a passion as their ancestors were the ones who killed Aria. While it was indirectly with the use of their armies, they are still responsible in Geiravor's eyes and so are their descendants. Them resembling them doesn't help either.

Possible Builds

  1. item 3115 item 3072 item 3087 item 3071 item 3022 item 3031
  2. item 3153 item 3508 item 3156 item 3025 item 3046 item 3091
  3. item 3742 item 3033 item 3102 item 3812 item 3027 item 3083

Or a mix of any of these together. Of course, everyone has their own preferences. These were just examples. The 1st and 2nd focused on a mix of attack speed, critical strikes, and damage. 1st one has some health whereas second gave mana. The 3rd one focuses on her more tanky aspects while still granting some damage.

There you go! There is Geiravor, the Frozen Spear of Freljord! I hope you enjoyed. This was a fun champion to quickly come up with and as I was writing the creative juices came floating back to my recently absent mind. This was a way to get my creativity back on track as it was slipping when I was working on some reworks and other champions.

Please feel free to leave feedback if you wish. I will gladly talk things out if people have questions. One rule. Just don't be rude. We can all be civil here. For the most part however this is a one time champion. Unless I feel like it I will not be reworking her. Her abilities (numbers included) are all rough drafts. They can be changed so keep that in mind. I simply ask that you look to the core of the abilities and ignore the numbers if you think the numbers are off since I will more than likely not be redoing them. The numbers aren't final of course, as I said they are mainly rough drafts and so they are placeholders more than anything.

Now, on a closing note. Any similarities to other champions are purely coincidental. I did not intentionally copy any other champions abilities or looks. Some might be similar and I may have used them as examples, but that is as far as it goes. Thank you! ^_^

Awesome concept, I've always loved the battle hardened women from Freljord and could bring A LOT to the table, considering she could support or solo top with a Sentinel'd jungler. Her one woman phalanx identity is really nice as well, it seems like a threatening Braum wall. I'd love to play someone like her. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Hey! ^_^ here are my thoughts on Geiravor, The Frozen Spear!

Overall Kit: Umm just curious what is the overall idea behind this kit? You have four nice skills but nothing works together or works toward one style. Let me put it this way, look at a champion like Ekko, his kit is able to work with each other to create intricate plays. His Q procs twice to feed into his E, his E and R work with his W, etc. These combos create an intricate and fun character. Most of the best concepts and champions on the rift show some form of synergy between abilities.

I don't see this kind of interaction with Geiravor, nothing in her kit works together or toward a common role. Like what is she? I initially thought tank/bruiser but then I saw her guarded mechanic and thought ok tank support. But then her ult which gives crit and W which gives attack speed so AD melee carry or bruiser?..... At the end I was a little lost and then I saw your recommend items..............

Passive: I think this is actually fairly cool! It leads to some nice interactions between you and your opponent almost kind of like some reverse Fiora passive. But I don't really like how it scales, it the beginning of the game it's completely irrelevant and doesn't really have an impact until later on. It would be cool to see a set value. Not a big fan of the AOE reduction though, it just feels like power tacked on.

Q: The guarded mechanic has potential but it puts her in a weird position.... Like you wouldn't want this unless you're a support otherwise random damage out of no where is really going to be annoying. Also the active feels fairly gimmicky, all your opponent has to do is not attack you and the skill is renderd useless which isn't hard to do seeing how easy Geiravor is to kite and it relies on your opponents misplaying instead of you using your skills properly.

R: This is honestly a hodge podge of random stats and effects. Also some of these stats simply don't make much sense. For an example without your guarded it only gives crit which is weird for a bruiser champion becasue they don't have the luxury of building these items becasue of their expense and the fact that hp and AD tend to be better.

Also these kind of god mode styled ults tend to be uninteresting and bad design most of the time. There's one champion with this kind of ult in lol and his name is Singed. Have you ever played Singed and ulted? It isn't very exciting, these kind of stat boosts are just ae you fighting? Pop your ult, no real decision making or real depth to the mechanic. Also they tend to be hard to balance, Singed's ult used to give tenacity but it was taken away becasue you couldn't kill Singed with it. Now Singed if I remember correctly gives him AP, mana regen, hp regen and maybe something else? Geiravor's is doubling her crit, buffing her crits, giving her AD, giving her lifesteal, conditional movespeed, and a conditional taunt. Half of these effects and some of them could be considered ults themselves, doesn't this sound a tad overloaded?

Lore: Alright I guess, lore is hard to judge and I tend to like to go into more depths than more people with my concepts but i guess it's good. If you want to go the extra mile it would be cool to go into more detail and i fee like I've heard something like this lore somewhere else.....

Overall: I think you have a solid start but you need to fix up a few things and try and some kind of theme for your champion.

This is a question I like asking people making concepts.

-Why should I play your champion? What separates Geiravor from the 200 odd champions in lol right now? Why should I play her over someone like Irelia? Irelia can arguably deal far more damage, probably more tanky initially with good lifesteal, and has a crazy CC. Why should I play Geiravor over Irelia?

Ok enough with the the review, speaking as a fellow concept creator I think you have a nice start, there are a lot of things that make me raise my eyebrows but it's a good start. Good luck with your concept and I can't wait to see what you do with it! ^_^

Also if you're really proud of your concept try entering it into the CCOS to see how it goes versus other people's concepts.
