Champion Concepts: Will riot use the ideas?

Will riot use the ideas that players have made for champions and posted on boards? I have myself made some concepts, but it feels kinda pointless if I now that it will never be added to the game.

The majority of the posts on here on the C&C boards are little more than paper kits, and often they're not particularly innovative - Riot's trying to give each champion a solid strategic reason why you would pick that champ over others of the same class / role, as well as at least one ability that's unique to them.

And a champion is more than just a paper kit. As custom champion concept creators we should try to emulate Riot. That also means doing the work Riot would have to do, and exploring and fleshing-out our concept as well as we can. We have to think about our champion's personality, their lore, their silhouette, color scheme, and in-game model, how they carry themselves, move, animate, etc. What about the ability names? And the artwork for ability icons? Especially their weapon / powers - if they wield a sword, what makes them different from all the other sword-wielders of League?

And what about the champion's fantasy? What feeling should the player get when playing your champion? My go-to example is the idea of a thief, and if you search the Boards for thief concepts, you'll notice that 90% of them don't feel like thieves at all, they feel like assassins. That's because they have 3-4 abilities that deal tons of damage, meaning the 'thief' player is going to approach every situation looking to face-roll for a triple kill. "But my champ is a thief! He gets 15 bonus gold when attacking enemy champions!"

So many of the champ concepts I see don't ever go beyond the, "I made up some abilities, here ya' go, Riot" post, and worse, they end up trying to occupy an existing champion's thematic space. "I heard you guys needed some champ concepts, so I made this archer with ice arrows - no she isn't Ashe! Ashe is from the Freljord, this grill is from Demacia, and she can shoot fire arrows too, and when she was little her family and village was killed by bandits! #TragicBackstory"

We can only hope that Riot peeks at this Board occasionally and that we can impress them enough to get their attention or inspire them. Here's hoping!

Well Riot has all but stated that they won't take a direct champion idea from the boards, if simply because they don't want to show favoritism to a specific player. That being said, interesting concepts or ideas have been known to make their way into the game, if not always in the same manner. For example, before work on Kindred was announced a player had posted a concept for a dual champion revolving around balance like Yin & Yang.

Basically, Don't stop posting your ideas, but also please remember that Riot probably will never take a complete character off the boards, but great concepts they can work with? That is the goal. Oh and also people love reading champions that are really well designed! :)

I just like to put it out there. It's not really my job to create champion concepts; I don't get paid to do it. But sometimes I like to think about it. Maybe they'll even listen, and use it in the game in their own way. I was just thinking of one concept for Karma myself.

i never thought the point was to have any of our concepts turn actual champions ( though it would be insanly cool). it always seemed like it was just for sharing our personal creativity with a community of shared interests
