[Skin Concept]: "Traditional" Aurelion Sol

So it struck me odd that a rather obvious skin was seemingly overlooked when Aurelion Sol was released. With Aurelion Sol having originally been Ao Shin, you'd think that it would be super cool and make sense for Aurelion Sol's release skin to be something along the lines of Ao Shin.

Well, its not too late, and here's how I imagine it would work!

So if you haven't realized by now, the thread is called "Traditional" Aurelion Sol because Ao Shin was what Aurelion Sol was first intended to be, and so I put it on par with the original designs of Lee Sin, Trundle, Sejuani, etc. The image above (while not by me) gives a good look into what the skin would look like.

This was the comic used to showcase Aurelion Sol's abilities. I'll be using it to explain step by step what some of the particle differences would be.

This was some of Aurelion Sol's early ability exploration, and it's actually fairly helpful when designing this skin.

Firstly, Aurelion Sol's suns which typically orbit him would be storm clouds, with the wisps of space stuff in their wake being a mixture of wind/rain/cloud particles. This pretty much covers his Celestial Expansion as well.

Starsurge would be either a small twister (like the image on the far right of the Ao Shin art), or a storm cloud (like the center of the Ao Shin art). Personally, I like the twister idea better.

For Comet of Legend, Aurelion Sol's body would be surrounding by glowing wisps of wind (like Ao Shin in the bottom left corner of the art)

Voice of Light is super straight forward: A bolt of lightning would shoot forth from Aurelion Sol's mouth (Top left of Ao Shin art). Works pretty well I think!

For a recall animation, I'm not married to anything, but the Tornado/Hurricane thing makes a lot of sense to me.

More will be added to this as needed, but share your support, thoughts, and concerns!

I was kind of expecting Riot to include some sort of reference to Ao Shin when they released Sol, to be honest. I think this is a really good idea.

It would be pretty cool, but there's some stuff that could be better. His passive, for instance, could use the actual phenomenon of the Lighting Ball. And his Q would have to get more violent looking the larger it was.

I'm still very much for a legendary Ao Shin skin.

I like Aurelion, I really do, but I can't help admitting that I think Ao Shin's design is a lot more interesting to look at. He just seems more like a legendary dragon.

Yes I know creating stars and galaxies is amazing and awe inspiring, the preview for the champ is the perfect example of the greatness of sol. But from a gameplay standpoint do we get to experience that? Do we really feel like a larger than life cosmic force? I mean taking a star from base to across the map is interesting but other than that I don't feel like a this powerful star maker in skirmishes.

Storms are bit better simply because we can relate to them a lot more, we've seen and been affected by storms, they can start smaller and grow very powerful, I feel this theme can still fit the Aurelion Sol kit.

That being said I feel like this skin should only be a legendary mainly for a different voice over. Ao Shin is something of a character more-so than simply a concept like "Pentakill" or "full metal" and if we're already talking different particles might as well take it all the way with better lines to fit the character design.

Ao Shin's design seems more like a dragon at piece, which sort of clashes with Aurelion's overall personality and story. Obviously Ao looks more like a champ from Ionia and that was the original idea for his character, so him talking about Mt Targon, and stars doesn't really work if he's creating storms and lightning.

However from a lore perspective this could be similar to what they did with Spirit Guard Udyr, create a what if scenario like Aurelion was freed by some Ionian champ, or due to years of staying on Runeterra perhaps Aurelion develops something of an attachment to the planet. So this project would at least be an 1820rp cost. Go all the way, or don't make it, cause a lot of fans of Ao would be disappointed with anything less I'm betting.

No Ao will never truly be a champion of the League of Legends, but I still would like Riot to keep the idea alive, I don't think these original ideas that were advertised so long ago need to be discarded simply because they took Ao in a new direction to Aurelion.
