TLDR LORE: This is my first champion design. His name is Dash and he is designed to be a yordle jungler. Lore wise, his village and family were all killed and Dash was taken to be sold at the black market in Zaun. The world's most infamous thief buys him and raises Dash as his apprentice and son. Dash learns all the tricks and surpasses his master. One day Poppy is heading through Zaun when Dash sees her hammer. It's so big and shiny. He wants to steal her hammer but she looks like the type who would put up a fight so he charms her. He goes on about how brave and strong he is, all the monsters and evil-doers he has brought justice upon. He tells these stories of coarse after Poppy spills her guts about her mission. Poppy is fully convinced that Dash is the legendary hero she was searching for. "Zaun of all places, and a yordle at that!". Dash got a decent price for the hammer, a little less than what he wished for but a fair price nonetheless. Like always, the hammer finds it's way back to Poppy and let me tell you, she's pissed.

You know what's funny. He was completely based on Rocket the raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy mixed with the facial patterns of a Husky. Thanks for the comment. I don't think it's a bad thing he reminds you of Sly Cooper though, he is a bad ass character so I take your comment as a compliment.

Nilok4 votes

Listen, it is okay to be inspired by Sly Cooper, but it feels a bit shady when you refuse to admit it.

Aside from the Raccoon markings on the eyes, there is nothing related to Rocket in this character.

Antonella3 votes

No sinister plot here my friend. He really wasn't designed with Sly Cooper in mind. His earlier designs were much more "rough" and I'll think you see the Rocket in there. I ended up making him more "yordle-ish" which lends to the similarities between the two. Thanks for the comments!

Great job with the artwork. The whole gold stealing concept is a little broken assuming the enemy doesn't have a chance to get their money back.

this whole thing feels like sly cooper from the thievius raccoonus http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/sly/images/a/a6/Screenshot_sly_cooper_and_the_thievius_raccoonus_35.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130416072153 summoner 30 summoner 31

Thanks for the comment. I have changed "Snatcher, No Snatching!" to be more "bandit" like. He can only steal their gold if he can jump straight to terrain from his leap so he can make a get away. This change is a great change because now it's a whole lot less broken and fun. So thanks for the feedback! As for him reminding you of Mr Sly himself, he wasn't designed with him in mind so it's cool he turned out that way. Dash's concept is a mix between Rocket the Raccoon (from guardians of the galaxy) and the facial pattern of a husky.

Well, it's a yordle concept, so thumbs up! We could use more yordles.

Yordle Jungler at that. We need that more than anything. We also need a yordle from Zaun.

I actually haven't but I can't lie and say he isn't one of my favorite designs for a video game character. His original inspiration was Rocket the Raccoon and facial patterns of a husky.

I love this champ idea, but a low cd on hit that steals gold would quickly prove to be broken.

I still love the champ though, and could see this being a champ.

You're right. I wanted him to have some kiind of stealing mechanic. It's to powerful. Perhaps he can only steal gold if he can jump to terrain after, to make a swift get away?

Yeah absolutely you can. I use photoshop with a default brush that's towards the bottom that starts at 100 scaling, but I drop it down significantly. The original size was massive and I reduced the size when I was finished to about 30% of the original resolution. Here is an image of the brush. http://imgur.com/VK9ihTo

Thanks for the feedback. You are comepletly right. I have updated the ability so he can only steal gold if he can make an escape using his passive. So there is a fun game of dashing off a wall, stealing people's money than jumping off from them onto another wall to run away. I whole lot less broken and more fun for the player and room for counterplay so your gold isn't stolen every 8 seconds. Again thanks for the feedback, I really enjoy this.

Your welcome. Thats a nice unique mechanic that u have added. That is the best part of about well though out critiques they help cultivate more ideas, and better ideas. Its definitely cooler, and amore balanced u took it to a whole new lvl. And don't mention it, i enjoyed it as much as u did. I dont spend as much time as I used to looking for good concepts and ones that showed promise to weigh in on, but when I did It was tons of fun to help peeps out and congratulate those on making great concepts. Any concept creator loves it when their ideas generate a lot of thought and feedback (if only mine did the same, art really helps, but enough about that.) Great job!

Yeah man. You're cool. Personally I don't care to much for "that looks good". I want people to rip apart my work. Obviously I can't do everything right so it helps out a ton when others weigh in. It also shows me how gauged people are. Nothing is worse than working your ass off and nobody cares enough to leave criticism. Criticism tells me that my idea is fascinating enough for you to care, otherwise you would just move on and say nothing. I have heard lots of different voices today and I'm happy that the majority are positive. But I'm also happy that some people cared enough to tell me what they don't like. I will be updating Dash in the next couple of days to give him some love to his outfit. It's to ordinary and plain. Keeping it the way it is but I need to add something. Any ideas?

Thanks. Rip apart all your hard work? OK! That i like to do. And ur too right about the working super hard on stuff and no one caring, super relatable. But I think it does help u get views when u have a lot of visuals that look nice and orderly, vs a lot of text, its easier on the eyes and helps peeps visualize what's going on, its easier to digest, and ur visuals do look gud. Some times peeps might jus not have enough time, but at least wanted to acknowledge ur work that caught their eye.

In terms of the kit Can Dash climb over terrain while using his passive? If he could do you think that could be considered broken? Perhaps he can only climb to the top but the only way he can actually get to the other side would be by using an ability? So when he jumps to a new wall he stays on the same side. Also if he gets hit by an enemy ability it would make since that he'd get knocked off on the side he climbed on right? (Before any of the ability affects took place, this way you avoid any unnecessary buggy stuff)

To further gate the abusiveness of E I would suggest putting a timer on champs effected by putting a CD (like Yasuos dash) on previous affected champs. My suggestion: After an enemy champ has been stolen-from/ plundered, they will become Wary for 1 minute (affected by CDR). During this time Dash will be unable to steal any gold from them.

For R, pls tell me your vision for it. Any of the other abilities i could actually see his character realistically doing in the world of Runeterra/ Valoran. But R seems to be too... idk it just doenst fit, it feels crude and too simple-mindedly brawly on him. And also how many spin abilities do we have in LoL now. Its about 5 now right. Now don't get me wrong a spin ability can be cool as long as its unique enough from the rest.

Take Tahm, Sol, and Taliya for example. All three have really long range dashes, that at thier bases serve to transport them from 1 spot to another far away, But each feels unique. Tahm channels and takes people with him in a blink. Sol's dash needs to be charged up and it allows him to grow his Q, Taliya's comes with a wall. Honestly Dash's R may have the possibly to be a cool spinning ult, but it doens't have enough oomph for some reason, it feels more like a basic ability.

I thought maybe it would be cool if his ult shot wires out. Like the hook on his cane is a grappling hook and he shoots it forward in a really long line, and if it connects with a wall or champ he can dash along the line to the target, detaching the hook but leaving wires attached. So he could use it to shoot wires across wall gaps to cross that he cant jump, and the wires would remain there. Any enemy champ that tried to walk through would break it but get Slowed and Grounded. Basically: R - Zipwire: Dash shoots a long range grappling hook in a target direction. If he is standing on terrain one end of the wire will lock onto his current location. If he is not once the hook has made contact with a unit or terrain he will dash towards them knocking them back. If Dash shoots the wire to terrain from terrain, the wire will remain for 3 minutes, allowing him to cross over. Allies will be unaffected, but enemy units will break the wires if they cross them getting slowed and grounded and revealing their location. If Dash hits and enemy champ from terrain he will NOT dash, but the enemy will be tethered to the terrain for 3.25 sec unable to leave a 1200 unit radius of the terrain.

Or what if he could make makeshift bunkers, or what if he used his cane to slam the ground creating a semi big explosion around him that created a dust cloud and made a hidden pit fall that lasted a while. IDK but his current R feels lack luster to me

In terms of the outfit, im really glad you changed it from the previous design. That had wayy too much going on and was too dark. I would suggest you continue the minimalist approach for the type of chararcter it seems you have built him up to be. Perhaps a strap or sheath of some type to hold his tool (hook?) when he is not using it, pehaps a pouch around his waist for stolen money. IDK but i see him as kinda the practical type, so I'd give him just what he needs, but not to go so far as to give him a utility belt cause thats cheesy and would be too obvious for his sneaky character.

I feel so bad about what I'm about to say considering you put so much time and effort into your post. I just don't have the energy at the moment to comment on everything you said. I hope that's ok. But! I will reply to your key points. A timer on his E is a must. You're correct. You asked about his ulty. I'm going to tell you about his ulty. I believe every champion in the game should have a "moment". Some of the "moments" are on their ult and others somewhere else, like Sol's Q. I think Dash's "moment" is in his ultimate. Being able to dash from your passive when the enemy team is least expecting it, into a massive swing, hook, spin then a toss is a very high moment indeed. It's fun. Has it been done? Yeah, to some extent in one way or the other. Some believe you shouldn't bother with something that has already been done. But fuck it. It's ok if this ability is similar to other abilities on other champions. It's not about just the one ability but the identity and uniqueness. Why would you pick dash instead of Lee Sin? Does Dash have something he can bring to the game that another champion doesn't? I think so. The wire mechanic you spoke off is cool as shit and would be better used if it replaced his smoke bombs. Cool little tibbit about his cane I didn't include. His staff can be folded and pushed into the head of his cane, then his "hooks" on the head fold inward. The shape you get is like a rectangle that looks like medal or something ordinary so he can walk around with it and turn it into a staff on command. I will be revisiting him next weekend to "finalize" all his stuff. Plan is to revisit each design two weeks after and update them to their final form based on feedback. It's important that I finish each design and call them complete. Each design inherently needs to be touched on and worked a little. Thanks again for your time and have a good one. Perhaps I'll see you on my next champion "Boomer".

it is definetly an interesting champ design. but, if I may ask, do u have the stats per level, base stats, and scailing on abilities done? or did it not go that far?

Antonella1 votes

I hope to not offend anyone when I say this. But those things just aren't important. The main goal of pitching champions or sharing them is to get people excited about the concept. I don't have plans to ever do that for any of my champion designs. It takes unnecessary amount of time figuring out those things and at the end of the day those stats don't stick with people, it's the idea. I put all my focus and energy into the idea. It's what people honestly care about. It's what I care about.

And thanks a whole bunch for your comment and question.

I like this little guy! He's got a cool kit. However, coupled with his damage and mobility comes a LOT of CC (and strong AoE linear slow and a massive AoE displacement). I think that's a bit much, and plus he looks to deal a ton of damage early game based on those scalings and bases. If you are open to suggestions I'd tone down the amount of CC he brings to the table because his damage and mobility are already top of the line.

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/MVaeYGoP-sozrath-the-lich-prince-full-champion-concept

Here's my concept, I'd appreciate some feedback as well. Love this idea!

Antonella1 votes

Thanks for the comment! For Dash's kit. It's not super important to me to get every ability correct or to get the scaling correct. His kit is really just to show off an idea of what a Yordle jungler could be like.

You got a cool champion there. How long did it take you? As far as feedback, it is to much of a read for my taste and to be brutally honest (no offense) it doesn't get straight to the point. I don't really want to spend any longer than 3-5 minutes reading or looking at it. I want to walk away with "that looks fun" but instead it's like reading someone's essay. I only say this because you put in so much effort. I really like him. I think your creative. I would condense it to the essentials as to not subtract from what your trying to show off and that's a concept.

the Anarchit3cht1 votes

I can't really see his passive working, because the terrain isn't designed to be interactable. It's easier to just think of it as a line you cant cross with the trees etc being a simple visual flair. What it looks like is irrelevant, its function is the same. Whether it rises an inch off the ground or a hundred feet into the sky, for gameplay purposes its the same. If he was running on top of it, for one, he'd be just that... literally on top of it. It wouldn't look good at all. But on top of that, if say, I was Braum or Xin or Akali or Zed or Talon or... any champion who can jump to another champion what would happen if I jumped to him while he was terrain? I know you said he falls off, but those skills move you to their location, which would be on the wall. Now assuming it knocked him off and I was positioned to the nearest space of accessible terrain, what would happen if it forced me on the other side of the wall--that'd be pretty anti-fun and unrewarding.

Antonella2 votes

First, thank you for your comment. You're correct. It's difficult. But not impossible. That being said, this isn't really anything more than a concept. An idea really. To get people thinking of that possible mechanic. My initial idea of him "running" across the top of terrain might prove to be to difficult to put in the game, but the idea of him doing so is cool and fun and it's worth exploring. Perhaps as far as we could go for his passive is just have him jump ontop of terrain and jump off. Which is still cool. Being able to interact with terrain (not temporary of coarse) gives him a unique playstyle and something we don't currently have in the game. Secondly, if this ability ever did make it to a champion I'd assume if they get hit, especially champions that jump to him would push him and that champion off the ledge and onto the ground of the closest location. As far as friendly champions like braum, I assume he wouldn't be able too. I should have clarified that he wouldn't be able to run across some walls, or the way he runs across them is more on the outer ledge than the inside. So it would be pretty obvious what side he would be falling too. Again, massive thanks for sharing your thoughts.

What a coincidence I made a Yordle champion named dash too.

Antonella1 votes

Really? That's really cool. I was playing league today and we were playing against an Ashe who was doing very badly. She out of nowhere got a penta and me and friends go "ashe..." then it hit me. Dash's name sounds so close to Ashe. Made a huge mistake there. He needs a new name. Which really sucks because Dash is such a fitting and cool name.

##CCOS Review

First of all, I wish I had even a tenth of the talent that you have in art. Drawings are super cool and really gives you a feel for what kind of character he will be. I wish you could really expand on the lore, but I do find it pretty humorous.

Passive- Very interesting passive here, I have to say. I do have a question about it. How long does he remain on the terrain for and is he targetable during his time on said terrain? I feel that these things need to be addressed. Also love how it interacts with his abilities. This makes him a champion that will always be aware of his surroundings and attempt to use them to his disadvantage. The only problem is would it even work ingame, cause League doesn't always function the best with unique stuff like this.

Q- Kind of a boring ability, but spices up with his passive. Not much else to really say about it.

W- Interesting passive, as it forces you to think about whether or not it's better to wait it out and stay out of an enemy's vision or to charge in and attack with a hard engage. The smoke bomb active seems interesting, if a bit vague on the specifics. Things such as radius and duration are needed.

E- Interesting little skill here. Nice that it allows you to immediately climb terrain. I'm not too keen on the stealing gold aspect. Does he actually remove gold from his target? If so, then he would be broken and really unfun to play against to be honest.

R- This is a nice ultimate. At first glance it doesn't seem like much, but it's an interesting ultimate that can easily sweep in the entire enemy team and position them in a way to grant your team victory. Kind of similiar in effect to Poppy's ultimate (hehe.) How far does he throw them though?

Overall, the kit could use a little tweaking, especially in making the Q a bit more interesting other than being what seems to be a harass and crowd control tool. The stealing gold aspect of his E might need some tweaking as well. Your artwork and ingame stuff looks really cool. Gonna need to learn how to do that sometime.

Antonella1 votes

I agree with everything you said. Well written. Not every ability can be amazing. I have to remind myself that. What's important is how everything ties in together. Does it feel cohesive? Does it fit in with the theme of being a bandit? His gold stealing mechanic kind of has to be in his kit. How do you make a bandit champion if he doesn't steal anything? There's ways of doing it without making it broken. Do I think I struck that cord? Not really. I'm sure there is a more balanced version of this ability in the rough if I spent more time on it. I'm sure if I was tasked with actually creating this champion, I would smooth everything out more. Every champion in the game has started with a concept and developed from there. This is the concept stage. It's not super important everything is "balanced" or perfect sounding. That stuff comes later down the road.

And thanks for the compliment on my art. It sure was rocky when I first started as I had to get adjusted to this Intous rather than a Cintiq I'm used to working with but I'm getting the hang of it. It's beyond important I get the feel of the champion by just looking at them. You can pretty much tell what kind of champion Dash is by looking at him and that's REALLY important in creating stuff like this. Look at your favorite champions in the game. You can pretty much get an idea what they do with a quick glance. I hope I can continue to capture their "shtick" with design alone. But the design always derive from what kind of champion I want to see. Like a yordle jungler or an marksmen that deals all magic damage instead of physical damage. It's all a fun challenge and if you want to get better at drawing I seriously recommend to take a drawing you like online and trace it and modify and modify and modify and modify and.... you get the idea. Sometimes you need to reverse engineer art in order to understand how to draw them.
