I love Karthus but he completely sucks now. One of the worst champions in the game. There is to many champions that completely counter his ult and make his impact non-existent. The immobile mage update is coming soon but nothing about Karthus. He is the very definition of immobile mage. I would love to hear something about Karthus's state and if he is getting any changes.

I agree that movement speed as a whole has been becoming far too prevalent a stat. Not just on items, but on champion abilities, too. Champions like Ekko not only get dashes, but speed boosts as well. I still think Karthus is a really strong champion if he can get to late game.

Actually both of these champs arnt TOO bad for Karth. People just play it wrong. Secret tip, take EXHAUST on karth. When Zed ults onto you, exhaust him, wall him and melt his face!

The method of Victory for Karthus is not getting kills early or harassing your lane opponent, it is through farming and Ulting when the jungler ganks other lanes. If you can keep you creep score around your lane opponent and make sure they do not get feed then you won since most likely you have a better late game than them. Karthus is also a beast during team fights when he has

I Love that Karthus is getting more attention but when people say he has no impact or is one of the worst champions made it sort of triggers me. His playstyle makes him a late game team fighter which most people dont make it to late game, or don't like team fighting

It's likely that he will get at least some changes in the mage update. I know for a fact that Riot sent out surveys in client to a lot of Karthus players asking how they'd feel about a rework, so they're at least considering him.

My main concern about reworking Karthus is that, as much as he sucks right now, I love his play style.
I wouldn't want it to be changed. His Q and his Ult make him really unique and I would hate for him to just get a brand new kit entirely.

Requiem (R)
ACTIVE: Karthus loses all vision to focus and channels for 3 seconds and, upon completing the channel, he can cast requiem again within the next 5 seconds to deal magic damage to all enemy champions.
Karthus cannot move or deactivate after activating Requiem until channel ends or is interrupted.
So basically, you still get the 3 second notice of his ult, but Karthus has a 5 second window to detonate it after that. To make this a game of 2 sides, Karthus cannot see enemy champions while casting his ult. So if he's just sniping someone with no shields he will just detonate his ult as soon as he's channelled. However, if he's trying to hit one or more people who have shields or barrier or stasis, he has a window of opportunity to actually hit them by baiting it out and hitting at the end of the 5 second window, or hitting them immediately which could also catch them off guard. Another note - it is a risk to Karthus doing this as he is even more vulnerable this way while using his ult.
I think it's a quality of life buff that simply makes his ult more interesting.

Maybe he's the same case as Galio and Swain. They don't want to do a small scope update to him like they do with Mid-mage update because it wouldn't be enough. He needs the ressources of a full kit rework.
I still don't get why Swain needs such a rework but that's not on topic XD

He needed that slow because of his up close and personal playstyle but Riot decided to gut him because he was "Benefiting greatly" from the pre season changes, even though his core items got uber nerfed.
It's hilarious too, because only DFT was what he was benefiting from in S6, he basically got directly and indirectly nerfed hard that it's only worth playing him if you are great with him.

Maw, Steraks, and QSS are regularly picked up by AD champs, and even having one of these makes Veigar's job insanely harder. And if 2 or 3 of them are built, good luck doing anything at all.

Anyways, Karthus gets destroyed by half the champions that play mid, and is then further destroyed by half the items in the game, and there are so many ways to minimalize or flat out negate the effect of his ultimate. Much like Swain, the nerf to his W made it so getting hit by the wall isn't as punishing. Which it should be, because it's his only solid way of landing his Qs. There are so many problems with him I can't even begin to list them. Just read through this if you really want to know all of his problems.

Krys Star2 votesThe main consequence being that it's a channel, a long cooldown, and doesn't have a huge impact until mid-late. That can also be countered by Banshee Veil, magic resistance in general, Hexdrinker, Sterak's Gage, interrupting him with a hard cc or silence, spell shield, Heal, Barrier. Need I go on? L2play.
