Tanya is a melee assassin, who has to all in to get her reward. Using her ancient weapon, the Naginata, she blinks circles around her prey and kills them when it’s time to strike.

Lore Part I

“Praise be to my lord.” The soldier spoke, as he approached the king. The king sat, unconvinced by his praises. “Speak.” He responded “My lord, there is a woman at the gate, requesting your audience.” “And she shall not have it, for I am booked to the teeth.” “I believe I’m well deserving of it.” A loud, and free voice spoke. As the soldier gazed around, only to find nothing but shadows, the king rose vigorously from his seat, his voice also rising. “Who would dare speak so frivolously!” He shouted. Approaching his jewel encrusted thrown, a short, tan woman, dressed in yellow. Her eyes as white as milk, she glared at the king. “I am pleased to see you again, Tidus.” She bowed, sarcastically, enraging the king. “You will address me as Lord.” He demanded. He failed to remember who the woman who stood before him was, but that did not stop him from issuing his decree. “I can have you imprisoned, exiled... Killed, for saying otherwise.” The woman smiled, and slowly drew a spear-like weapon from her sheath. The ethereal and delicate weapon was what reminded the king of this woman’s identity. “By the gods... You’re alive!?” He quieted. He began to tremble. The soldier took action. He drew his sword, in an attempt to slay her then and there. With minimal effort, the woman evaded his attacks. Out of options, the soldier fell quickly to her weapon, with broken legs. The woman glared at him, with pity. “I’m not going to kill you, don’t worry. Call reinforcements. I want them all to hear what I have to say.” And she glanced back to the king. “Why are you here?” “Where is my brother?” “Leave, traitor.” “You’ll tell me, Tidus.” The woman demanded, and she raised the weapon to him. “Tanya. You betrayed us... Sold out your people - your own family - to the enemy. You are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of lives. You’re a damned traitor. And now... You return, only to demand my full cooperation, and fail to even acknowledge what you did!?” Tanya prepared to speak, once again demanding her brother. The king intervened. He rose from his throne, slowly treading over towards a glass jar. Inside the jar contained a lone head. The body no where in sight. Tanya gazed in horror, and anger at the king. “This is your brother.” “You... Murderer.” “You are the murderer!” He shouted. “Responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths! You’re a despicable, vile woman. You should be ashamed!” He turned to face the head once more. “This should have been you.” He said. The woman drew her weapon again, and impaled it into the king’s back. The king simply faded, away, like a cloud. The woman watched as all things faded. It was only a dream. But to Tanya, it was a vision. She considered it a message that her brother had been killed, and that she would kill the king for this. As the dream completely faded, what remained was a dark chamber, and a long, ancient Naginata that had been concealed from the light, for centuries. The woman, Tanya was reaching out for it. She seized it - claimed it. “Let’s make them pay.” She whispered.

Part II

Fleeing the cavern, Tanya was met by a shaded person. His eyes completely shrouded, yet he had clear vision through the raging sandstorms of the desert. “Move please.” She said firmly. The man gave a quiet and dark response. “Turn back from your path of destruction.” He whispered. This left Tanya in confusion, but not fear. She raised the Naginata from it’s sheath slowly. The person’s answer would be no movement. “You wish to be the first to die?” She asked. The person’s shrouded robes, glew brightly. Tanya stared in hesitation, before being knocked back by a psychic energy. “You are weak.” The person spoke. “You will never kill Tidus with that power.” Tanya’s eyes widened, and she slowly stood, trembling as she rose from the sands beneath her. “You... What are you?” She asked. “The path to victory.” “You... Speak nonsense.” “Turn back from your path of destruction. You are not ready.” “Not ready...” She pondered about her power, coming to the realization that she was mortal. She was weak. “You... Are right.” She admitted, raising the Naginata to the person.. “I’m just a woman with this ancient tool.” “This tool will be the death of many.” He promised. “I am going to make you the destroyer of ten thousand lives.” “You misunderstand. I am not interested in murder of innocents. I-” The person intervened. “You have already gotten many killed.” “Yes, I have, but I will not do it again.” “I can bring your brother back.” He whispered. Tanya stared into the infinite darkness of the person’s shrouded robes. A tear descended from her left eye, and she approached the one standing above her. “Bring him back.” “You will lead the army of one thousand soldiers, with moderate experience, as they charge through the walls of your very hometown. You will kill every mortal in sight. Only after, do you kill the king.” “And my brother... What of him?” “He will watch as the king is killed. He will greet you.” Tanya stared downwards, into the sands that blew by. As she stared, she felt as if time had passed fiftyfold. She raised her head, and as she gazed into the endless black where his face lied, she felt more lonely, and afraid. Finally, she spoke. “I’ll do it.” Immediately, the person’s robes glew, but into an alternate color. He began to levitate, while chanting a spell of dark magic. “Your army awaits you at the gate. You must hurry.” And she hurried to the gate.

Part III

Tanya was about to engage what would be the darkest act of her lifetime. To engage war onto her home, would be to murder her own family. “Today, we fight. Today, we will prosper!” She shouted. The army shouted with her, raising alarm from within the gates. The gates had slowly opened, revealing the kingdom’s army. Tanya turned to face them, seeing many faces she once knew. Both her face, and their faces had the same expression - none. “Attack!” She commanded. Her army charged ahead, dropping as fast as two seconds. Their attacks, were enough to kill, but their will was not strong enough to survive. Tanya led, evading many projectiles, and swords. Her Naginata was her guide, and she would not be scratched in the aftermath. As time passed, Tanya’s army had worn down to few hundreds. She grew worried, that she would be killed. Her worry distracted, her, and she was captured by a trap set up by the king. She struggled to be released, until every eye was on her. No one spoke. Weapons were lowered. The king had entered. “Traitors!” He shouted “You are all, nothing. Nothing but filfthy, abomidable traitors! To attack your king, is treason, Treasononous hearts, will meet death.” The king turned to face Tanya. She stared back in anger, showing no signs of fear or respect. “This one, will not only be killed.” He began. “But she will be hung, beside her brother, in the same tree that has called her name for years.” Tanya struggled once more, at the mention of her brother. The Naginata she carried, spoke to her. She took hold of it, as it consumed her. The Naginata absorbed her soul, and the remaining souls of her army. Tanya’s weapon guided her body through the trap, as she broke free from capture. Ten thousand soldiers whom had protected her as a child, fell victim to her bloodied weapon. The king stared at her, unaware of what was happening. He realized he lost the war. Only he and Tanya remained. Tanya’s eyes, white as the winter snow, gazed with the glare of death himself. The king trembled. “I am pleased you remember me, Tidus.” She approached the king slowly, with the Naginata in her left hand. The king fled from her, but did not lose her. He pleaded for mercy, but recieved none. Her teeth clenched, and she thrusted the Naginata through his chest six times, damaging the heart twice. Tanya slew the king in his jewel encrusted throne. “He’s dead.” A voice called. She turned, anticipating to hear it. She was surprised to see nothing behind her. “I am with you, Tanya.” The voice spoke again, softly. “You got him.” She whimpered, as she saw the apparition of her older brother. He stayed quiet once more, raising his hand and then his thumb. He faded away once more, leaving her in tears. The kingdom remained in silence for years.

Tips

Playing As Tanya

Tanya is restricted by very high cooldowns, making her a high risk pick if she does not plan out her kill properly.

Take collective note of the map, if you believe Dreams and Nightmares is an apparition.

Devil’s Dust is better defensively than offensively. Do not use it on an isolated pick that cannot fight back.

Tanya has high mobility as she levels, but lower mobility early game. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.

Playing Against Tanya

If Tanya cannot kill you using her Sun Dashes, she will lack the high mobility to escape or continue chasing, giving you the choice of fighting or getting out.

Tanks have a harder time dying. Tanya will not fare well against them.

Tanya has high single target damage, but high cooldowns. If you can defend from her damage you can counterattack while she is recharging.

Tanya can disable you from attacking, but not running. If you are covered in Devil’s Dust, back away until the effect ends.

Quotes

Selection It is not life we must live. It is death we must die.

Movement It’s all a game to me. I’m not evil! I’m just... not a hero. Infamy isn’t villainy. Why? Why not? There’s not much here. Traitor? Yes... Villain? Not even. Let’s kill someone. Carelessness just makes it more fun. I’ll be gone someday. Regrets... Never heard of them.

Attacking I’ve got nothing to lose. Ambush! Alright! It’s about time You may die now. Keep your blood to yourself. This is going to be fun. Who’s ready for some action? Let’s do this. Time to dance. You’re going down. An ambush requires patience. That’s the worst part. I’m a proficient assassin honestly.

Joke (Tanya’s Naginata turns horizontally and she plays limbo with it) How low can you go? Can you go down low? All the way to the floor?

Taunt I seek a challenge. But you will do. The gods favor me. Prepare to die. You should call for help. Lots, and lots, of help.

Revealing an Apparition or Champion with Dreams and Nightmares Is this... real? Let’s... Slow down. I have to hide... For now.

When an Apparition disappears It was just a dream... It’s over. Now, where were we?

Using Naginata Stand Tanya giggles

Using Sun Dash It’s me! Keep up.

Using Devil’s Dust Why don’t you fight back? Try something. Anything. Slither away. At least you were trying.

Taunting a Noxian You believe in strength. Yet you can’t take me? You guys kinda suck. Strength is important, true... But you don’t actually have any.

Taunting a Demacian Truth and Justice... Boring. Truth? You are truuuuuuly wasting my time. DEMACIA. Tanya laughs

Taunting Amumu I'll be your friend. I promise! Lean on me... Buddy...

Taunting Draven When I kill you... I’m cutting off that ‘stache. Draaaaaaa Tanya sneezes. Sorry, I’m allergic. Draven? More like has-been Tanya laughs

Taunting Gragas Disgusting. I'm just saving you from a heart attack, buddy.

Taunting Karthus I gave up my life for the thrill. You're wasting your time. I've broken bones before.

Taunting Kayle I hope you weren't in search of me! Angel against a Devil. How predictable.

Taunting Lucian Such a fragile one... You seem upset, Lucielle. Have some tea.

Taunting Tahm Kench "Oh look at me, words words words, blah blah blah, lick lick lick." Kench is gonna need a bench You cannot save everyone, Tahm Kench.

Taunting Taric James. Let’s go. You had... A cactus right? Blast off at the speed of light

Taunting Teemo A talking one? That’s too rare! Where’re the other two?

Taunting Vayne Okay, I'll admit, you're kind of cool.

Taunting Zilean How old are you...?

Taunting Zyra You’re up Jessie. Where’s the snake? Surrender now, or prepare to fight.

The R is too powerful to be able to make a champion not be able to attack for 3 seconds is ridiculous. Also I think she's way to mobile.

untargetable for EIGHT SECONDS?

Thats a way worse version of fizz's troll pole. Like no, change that to maybe a second MAX. Completely change w perhaps. But as long as that is eight seconds hell no. Thats more broken than all the top laners we got right now.

Heavens this is a lot of work! I applaud your effort. A little edging towards the sacrilegious at times for my taste, mostly in the dialogue, but the work, the thought, the creativity... Marvelous. (And I literally never use that word!) By the way, can I just add I'd love to see a naginata in League? I may have to grab that idea for one of my own future concepts. :) Sadly, the amount of thought you put into yours puts my own work to shame. Still, this was fun to read. Very well made.

(Note: My words are not to be taken to heart in terms of mechanics, as I came into this from a writer's perspective. I know too little about the nuances of League's mechanics to give specific comment on that, I'm afraid.)
