Matthias, the Future of Noxus
“Noxus might not be perfect, but it’s home.”
A commoner from Noxus, Matthias grew up lacking strength in a nation that respected little else. But what Matthias lacked in muscle, he more than made up for with his mind. There was a spark of genius there that could not be denied by anyone who met the youth. Matthias spent his childhood struggling to help his father, a blacksmith, at the forge, but was never big or strong enough to do the job needed.
A chance encounter would change his life.
The champion of all Noxus, Darius himself, had come to the forge, having spoken to the locals and learned that this forge had made several innovative designs that put them over their competition. After speaking with the boy, Darius understood that whatever his physical limitations were, Matthias had a mind that was not to be underestimated, and resolved to help him realize his potential. The Hand of Noxus sponsored the blacksmith’s boy, furthering his education in more elite schools in Noxus, and finally to the Yordle Academy of Science and Progress in Piltover. While many people in Piltover did not like the idea of teaching a Noxian their advanced sciences, citing their war against Ionia as reason to impede their progress as much as possible, Matthias won over Heimerdinger with his single-minded zeal for knowledge. The Revered Inventor simply could not pass up such a pure student of science.
Matthias focused his studies and experiments in the use of attraction, momentum, and repulsion. While he also worked on using low levels of electricity in an offensive capacity, Matthias intentionally limited his studies to small-scale technology designed to empower soldiers on the battlefield, to make them faster, stronger, harder to rout, and avoided designing things that could be adapted into large-scale destructive weapons, partly out of respect for his instructors putting aside their Noxian prejudice, and partly because he agreed with their view of his country’s actions in the past. Matthias wished to move forward with his country, rather than turn his back on his home for things done in the past. He had a vision of a better Noxus, a vision he might be able to bring forth himself. He had the knowledge. Now he only needed to apply it.
Matthias returned to Noxus to continue his studies on his own. Backed by Darius, he was able to get funding for his own lab, right next to his father’s blacksmith shop. Matthias continues to work on his inventions to this day. Recently, he’s started to conduct field tests for many of his inventions, having designed a repulsor field that allows even someone as scrawny and fragile as him to keep up with people like Darius on the battlefield…
Passive – EM Gun:
Matthias’ auto attacks and Taser build a charge when hitting enemy champions. When Matthias reaches X charges, his next autoattack or Taser will discharge, dealing magic damage to his target and the area around them.
ACTIVE: Matthias can right-click a friendly structure or ward, or a destroyed enemy structure, within X range to pull himself to it. If Gravity Field is active, all allies within the field will be pulled the same distance in the same direction. 90-second cooldown.
Q – Taser: Matthias fires a single-target skillshot forward. If the skillshot hits a target, Matthias can reactivate Taser within four seconds. Upon reactivation, Taser deals X damage to the target and any enemies in a line between Matthias and the target.
W – Ion Shield: Matthias shields himself or target ally for X damage. While the shield persists, auto attacks Magnetize their targets for 2 seconds. Matthias and any shielded allies gain X movement speed when moving toward a Magnetized target (Matthias gains both movement speed bonuses if he shields himself).
E – Tether Lance: Fires a lance at a target, tethering them within X range of where they were standing when struck.
Enemy cast: Enemy is tethered within a zone for X seconds. If they attempt to leave the zone, they are pulled back to the center and stunned. If the tether runs out without being activated, they gain Y movement speed that decays over two seconds.
Ally cast: Ally is tethered within a zone for X seconds. While ally is tethered, their attack speed, attack damage, and ability power steadily increase over time. Leaving the zone early cancels these effects. If the ally stays within the zone for the full duration, the final effect persists for an additional X seconds.
R – Gravity Field: Matthias creates a large field that moves with him. On initial cast, all nearby enemies are knocked up. While the field remains active, allies within the field are immune to displacement effects. Lasts X seconds.
