Friston, the Prestige [Stage Magician Champion Concept]

Hey there, Cardi here. Just thought I'd share with you my favorite champion concept of all the ones I've ever worked on. To get you into the mindset that I had when I designed this champion, I thought I'd share with you my two biggest inspirations for designing this champion. The first is my favorite anime, Magic Kaito 1412. It's about a phantom thief who steals jewels right from the police's eyes using magic tricks and stage illusions. The second is one of the greatest magicians of our time, Lance Burton. His brilliant dove and candle act creates a magical spectacle that brings nothing but pure joy and wonder to all his spectators. He's an amazing man whose magic and illusions touched the lives of the many people who were fortunate enough to have come across him in their lives, in person or through media. And here I share with you that very act that inspired most of the abilities in this champion's kit. I hope you enjoy, both the champion concept and the wonderful work of this awe-inspiring man.

Friston, the Prestige

Illusionist (Passive)

A great magician does not reveal his secrets, so Friston does not share his vision with his team, but he can make use of the vision his team shares with him (in spectator mode, Friston’s vision is only revealed if he is the focus of the camera). Friston’s secondary passive is Final Act (300 second cooldown).

Final Act (Passive)

When Friston takes fatal damage, he recovers 25% of his base maximum health instead of dying and becomes invisible for two seconds as doves fly out from his location.

Act: Blowtorch (Q)

Friston sprays a faint mist of combustible fluid in a thin line (think nidalee spear), marking enemies struck for four seconds. Friston can re-activate this ability to snap, igniting the marked targets and dealing magic damage to them in a brilliant flash of bright orange flames. Deals 50% additional damage to minions.

Act: Reflection (W)

Friston vanishes into doves (if he’s above 50% health) or smoke (if he’s below 50% health) and summons an identical clone with his exact stats, buffs, debuffs to walk in a target direction as he becomes invisible. The clone lasts three times as long as his invisibility duration, does not have a maximum leash range, and can be controlled with alt-click. Kills and assists refresh this ability’s cooldown.

Invisibility duration: 0.9/1.0/1.1/1.2/1.3 seconds

Act: Misdirection (E)

Friston spontaneously combusts a small (300-radius) area after a half second delay, dealing magic damage to enemies in the area and leaving behind a very small (200-radius) smoke cover that renders everything within (excluding neutral monsters and enemy champions) it invisible (including enemy minions, enemy wards, allied champions and wards, etc.). The smoke cover lasts for three seconds. Enemies that are marked by Act: Blowtorch take 50% additional damage over four seconds.

Paradox (R)

Friston waves his hand and summons a partially invisible trapdoor at his targeted location. The trapdoor takes one second to magically set itself up. When it’s ready, Friston can click on the trapdoor to instantly vanish from his location in a brilliant display of smoke and appear at the trapdoor’s location. The trapdoor remains for a short duration after activation (3/4/5 seconds) and is only visible to enemy champions that are within 500-range of it. It can be destroyed with one instance of damage from any source (attacks or abilities). Friston can also cast Paradox on his Act: Reflection clone to switch places with it instantly. Friston can have two charges of Paradox at once.

Cool ideas but I think this theme is pretty much already occupied by Shaco and Leblanc especially; she's already a magician who specializes in misdirection and jukes with her clone passive and W/R dash/jump.

I know you might think there's no reason the two can't exist together but every new champion concept should bring something really different imo.

What is his role in a team?
