I always feel like AP itemization against tanks is terrible. It honestly feels impossible to kill a tank by yourself as an AP champion even if you have all the magic pen items and masteries. AD champions however get items such as item 3153 item 3036 item 3147 item 3071 item 3142 item 3814 . I feel as if AP champions need a new item that will help against fighting really tanky comps.

Corrosive Tome item 3041 AP: 80 Magic Pen: 15 Unique Passive : Enemies hit with your spells have their Magic Resist lowered by 5 per time hit ( Can stack up to 40 Magic Resist Lowered) Gold Cost: 3200 Build Path : item 1052 + item 1026 + item 1026 + 1065 gold

I wanted to make this item not give any Health so item 3151 could be a more defensive Tank killer. The reason I made the Magic resist stack so low is so assassins who normally have a burst combo can't build this item as much and kill tanks as fast too since I feel as if Assassins should almost never be the tank killers. I also didn't want to give the item too much AP because if I did It would too good against squishier champions.

Please give feedback on this item and tell me if would be too strong or too weak. Hopefully Riot will see this and think about another AP Pen item :D

Problem then comes with MR itemization itself. With item 3047 item 3068 I have 90 armor with just two items, now for MR you have item 3111 item 3001 you only have 80 MR for the same price, plus champions tend to gain a lot more armor per level than they do MR. In most situations your enemies are going to have much more armor than they do MR so taking away what they have to work hard to get is painful.

This doesn't work because reducing a giant ball of MR by a flat amount doesn't do as much proportionally. It fails at its intended purpose - and instead becomes broken when combined with other MPen items.

You can't kill tanks because they itemize HP as well as MR. Since mages don't autoattack, if a tank can survive a cycle of spells they're pretty much in the clear. If this was a problem that needed to be fixed (it's not), then it's better to start from how to deal with both high HP and high MR instead of just eroding flat MR away and making sure you do true damage to anyone not stacking MR.
