Stop Complaining About Placements

Last season was my very first season and I placed Silver III by going 4 out of 10 wins on my placements, this season I went 4 out 10 wins and got Bronze III. Instead of posting about it on the boards I just climbed out! The point of having a ladder is to climb not just to start in the middle of it.

In some cases it's justified, like if you are Platinum and you go 6-4 you shouldnt be placed in Silver. That's an extreme example but there still should be some reasonableness in how low you get placed (like not go down 2 tiers if you win majority of your games)

I have to agree. Placements should at least be a little logical. Going 6-4 should roughly place you where you were last season. Someone who was Plat last season should definitely not go 6-4 and end up in Silver.

10-0 should be minus one full rank. IE Gold 1 -> Silver 1.

6-4 should be minus 2 or so.

That's only if previous soft reset elo isn't factored in (which it always is)

Dude on my friends list was Diamond past 2 seasons... went 6/4, was placed Silver 4... FOUR. Shouldn't he have been silver 1 at the lowest?

Either your mmr was low gold level somehow, or the system is atrocious.

No one is. They're too busy complaining about super broken sub 52% winrate Caitlyn being so overpowered and saying AD carry is the best role and so broken.

Most people have been here for years and they still complain about it, it's so sad. They just seem to think that it's gonna change and place them where they feel they belong instantly regardless of win/lose.

Though I have found Riots placements to be a bit "off" at times, as I ended season 4 in Gold 5 and placed Silver III season 5 (seems normal). Then season 6 I placed Silver III again after having only finished Silver II in season 5. So it's a little weird that it was only one division difference.

Though found it really funny that Riot even said we would place lower then we were before, and yet people still complain? Like you said, the point of a Ladder is to CLIMB. It's not to start where you were...that'd be too easy. Each season changes anyway, who says just because you were one rank in one season that you deserve it the next?

Make it fair for everyone. EVERYONE should have to climb the ladder, regardless of how well they did last season.

Yeah because having challengers stomp on the rest of us would be so much fun...

its pointless trying to win placements by that logic they was as well just lower everyone down a few places

The main issue i have with it is both plats and golds were all pushed down to silver making for some very unbalanced matches, thats gotten better now but there's still the occasional plat who queues up for placements even now.

There are some diamonds who landed in silver, some would go 5/5 or 4/6 or 6/4. Before only flex was fucked, now its both solo/duo and flex.

That's ok, I went 2/10 in my placements last season and got b5 this year I went 7/3 and got b5.

PSA: If you ranked Bronze last season you will BE PLACED BRONZE because the system is designed to MAKE you climb

If you were Bronze 3 last season and got put Bronze 5 and come here to complain that the system is unfair it looks really dumb.

While I am inclined to agree (after all, if you belong higher you will get there), I feel like matchmaking overall this season so far is wonky...

Like something didn't calculate right. I think I went 5/10 or 6/10 in placements ended in Silver III (didn't rank last season cause dynamic queue, but was gold the 2 before), had no issues climbing up for the most part bar a few poor games on my part.

it is the weird games where the enemy top dies to a gank, TP's back into a huge minion wave (with both of us still there pushing at almost full hp) to die again that makes me go "?". And other things of that nature.

People don't don't complain because of where they get placed, they complain because there is no point to placements at all. You get placed in a pre-determined spot no matter how you do on your placements.

What I don't like about it is I was bronze last season, invested a lot of effort into my placements this season, improved dramatically, went 6-4 (should have been 7-3 if we didn't have an AFKer), and I get B5 with 0LP.

I didn't expect to get out of bronze, but to be placed with ZERO LP after my efforts? WTF was the point of me even playing those 10 games? It doesn't take a set of placement matches to dump me at the literal basement!

I used placements for practice. I didn't give a shit about trying to get a good record on it because I ended the Season Silver 5. No matter what I did, I would have been placed in B5.

Point I'm making is that expecting shit like this reduces frustration. My placement games were all laid back and enjoyable because I knew no matter how good or how bad I did, the result would have been the same. I didn't 'tryhard' in a single placement game. I treated it the same way I treat Normals, a place to try shit out and practice.

That's not fair to the other players on your teams. You get matched mostly with people who have already played through their placements and are trying to climb. To treat it like a casual affair and screw up their LP for the sake of your 'practice' is rude.

I don't go into these games with the intention to lose, nor do I troll or intentionally feed.

Let me clarify what I mean. It may or may not apply to other people. When I'm playing to climb, I play my best champ and always aim to carry and I try to get my best lane/role. When I play just for fun or trying out shit, I don't mean trying troll shit like AP Trynd. Sometimes it's just playing a champ outside my main or backups or playing a role I'm not too confident in to carry. So if these other players want to win, all they have to do is not feed and carry because I'm certainly not gonna be able to carry on a champ or role I play sparingly but I'm helpful enough to be carried so it's on them to win. I don't make it hard for players that have a brain to carry.

I just curious about how the placement system works. Me & my friends always playing together in the same match since the season start. with the same win-lose.

My friend was places in Silver II, But I was placed in Silver IV.
