LORE In my many, many years alive, I have never heard of a man as terrifying as Gladius. Simply the name itself brings fear into the hearts of those whom speak it-- forever an image of him burned into their soul. The extensive wive's tales told of him are simply astonishing-- they claim he is a man who has no soul, a man who does not tire, a man who is cursed to forever kill. Goodness, some even say he is not a man at all-- they think he is Death himself. However, I have finally found what made this man, indeed a man, who he is today. Gladius was a normal boy in the Southern plains of Ionia--quite the normal boy indeed. He was born normally, he was dressed normally, nobody could tell that he would grow up to become a terrifying icon to all. He had a mother and father who raised him upon a farm, who loved him dearly. He was taught by them every day to venture into the seemingly endless fields, harvest the corn, wheat, rice, and so on, and he did so. He grew up to a simple lifestyle-- sleep, wake, harvest, repeat. He worked with his father every morning, watching as his large arms cut down the crops seemingly untiringly, in smooth and rounded motions with a sickle in his hand. Everything was normal in his life-- no, everything was beautiful in his life. Until, the fated day he let dark power inside of him. It started a simple day. Wake up, eat breakfast, go to the fields. He waited for his father there, in the fields, as a loyal child would. Abruptly, he heard a woman's voice behind his humble abode, and went towards it slowly. Step by step, he moved cautiously, rounding the corner of his house, to see his father talking to a beautiful woman with long, flowing tails behind her flirting with his father. Just as he was about to call out to his idle of a father to come to work, the fox-lady noticed him and all within one swift movement, pushed him aside. Gladius was swept aside, and before he could scream, he watched as the fox kissed his father, and a blue aura flooded out of every pore of his body, as if he was glowing. Time seemed to slow as his father slowly crumbled into dust, his sickle falling out of his grizzly hands. He saw every crack, every crumble, as he changed from what used to be a man into a pile of pathetic gray dust, on the dirt. Gladius slowly stood, stunned, staring at the ash slowly slipping away with the breeze. As if this poor boy hadn't seen enough, he watched as his mother charged at the fox lady with a kitchen knife in hand, letting out a blood curdling scream. There was nothing he could do as he watched the beautiful lady fling a blue orb at his mother, reducing her to a pile of dust alongside his mother. The lady simply giggled in glee, as she dashed into the sunrise, never to be seen. Gladius slowly stumbled, letting murderous and dark thought slowly enshroud his mind. He walked over the remains of what used to be his mother and father, staining his boots with their essence. His outstretched hand met his father's sickle, and he slowly brought it up to his chest. Some think that his sickle was then filled with the essence of his dead mother and father-- others think he enchanted it with black magics, but one thing was certain. This was his vow of revenge-- this was his vow to kill, this was his vow to taste blood of whoever he crossed paths with.

Abilities PASSIVE

[Concept 1] Living Weapon Every 5 autoattacks or every ability cast, Gladius' sickle grows hungry for combat, expanding-- gaining range (1% of current AD-- bonus damage included in this empowerment.), and has a damage boost (5% current AP-- bonus damage included in this empowerment) for 4 seconds. If a target is successfully hit, Gladius is bound for 1 second, and the victim is stunned for 1 second. . When proc'd, Gladius' sickle grows 50% larger, and gathers a dark aura around it. When a target it hit, Gladius's sickle grows tendrils and sucks the life force out of the selected champion/monster, then shrinks back down to it's regular size abruptly. . Explanation: A steroid for laning phase-- a poke with no mana and without sacrificing misposition. Could also be a scary threat/pressure in teamfights, however, this would be a very specified type of effect, as the 5 autoattacks may not be available. Could also open up new pathways to build AP hybrid items-- such as gunblade or stynger. Also exaggerates his early game strength and late game fall.

[Concept 2] Dark Intent When out of combat, Gladius slowly plans out his next attack. These can stack up to 10 times, each stack adding 10(+2% AP, +1%AD) true damage to his next attack. Gladius gains one stack every 5 seconds. On his next ability or autoattack landed on an enemy champion, he focuses his energy on a crucial point of the enemy's body, using 50% of the damage on hit and applies the other 50% to an over-time damage effect over 3 seconds. The immediate damage effect can not kill the enemy within one ability cast or basic attack, however, the over time damage can. . When at full stacks, Gladius gains a dark, fiery aura around him. When stacks are released onto a champion, a small "dot" of the black aura previously surrounding Gladius is transferred from him onto the target's chest area. As the damage over time ticks, the "black fire" slowly dies down, eventually fading away. If an enemy dies while under the damage over time effect, they go through their normal death animation then go up into black flames (if possible) after it is completed. . Explanation: Something to really buff up his assassination abilities-- what could be the core of his kit. Brings pressure after Gladius backs, and even more pressure when he goes MIA. It would force enemies to build a zhonyas for the damage over time or some serious armor if Gladius is fed. Imagine getting jumped and half your health being taken away just from his passive, then your health slowly ticking down-- assassination at it's purest. Fantastic for roaming.

Q

[Concept 1] Chained Sickle 30/50/60/70/75 Mana 13s/10s/7s/5s/4s Cooldown Gladius connects a chain to his sickle, spinning it forward (600 units, then grounding itself for 1 second then returning to Gladius if not reactivated), dealing 65/75/90/115/125(+30% AD) physical damage if a unit is hit by the sickle. Gladus can then press q again to ground his sickle in mid-air and yank himself to it's current location, causing an explosion of black fire 100 units around him upon landing, dealing 40/60/85/100/105(+60% AP) magic damage. . Gladius flings his arm 180 degrees across his torso, flinging his sickle. The sickle rapidly spins, and when q is reactivated, it slams into the ground and Gladius swiftly dashes to it. While the sickle is airborne, Gladius uses his fists to autoattack, but they only deal 75% of his current attack damage. At the end of the range, it slams down into the ground, and is yanked back to Gladius in a straight line. When selected, it is a skillshot that can be selected how far you want it to go. . Explanation: Any good assassin needs a gap closer. In exchange for big numbers, this skillshot is very hard to hit effectively. Not only is this a gap closer, however, as it can also be used as poke, or even pressure. Don't want your lane enemy to get that seige minion? Throw your sickle towards it, presenting the threat of you dashing to it, and getting a strong engage or even potentially a kill if they so choose to get that important objective.

W

[Concept 1] Reap 15/25/40/50/60 Mana 5s/4.5s/4s/3.5s/2s Cooldown ACTIVE: Gladius reaps his victims in front of him, outstretching and expanding his scythe (400 units) and swinging it from left to right, dealing 80/100/125/180/200 (+70% AD) physical damage to all enemies caught within his swing. Victims caught in this reap will be swept along with it's strike, being knocked airborne to the right. If a unit is killed with this or a passive effect caused by this, you will get double the amount of "Grain from the Field" stacks. PASSIVE: For every unit killed (1/4 stack for minions, 2 stacks for champions, and 1 stack for jungle monsters), Gladius gains one stack of "Grain from the Field", each stack giving him .25 true damage to his autoattacks (with his sickle). 1/4 of his stacks are lost upon death. Maximum stacks possible are 100. . When Gladius' scythe is expanded for the reaping, it's blade is engulfed in black flames and leaves a trail of black particles behind the blade's path for 1 second after completion. When stacks of "Grain from the Field" are acquired, an animation of black streams leave the body of the unit killed (much like the animation of a jungle monster being killed.) and transfers into Gladius' sickle. At 100 stacks, Gladius' eyes are turned completely black until stacks are lost. . Explanation: To emphasize Gladius' early-mid game snowballing ability, stacks were input into his build. Late game, these stacks may decide if he is useless or useful, considering his late game fall. The active of reap is meant to be one of his main damage sources, as well as reliable cc that can offer some hard synergy within the team. (Yas ult, anyone?). Can also open up paths to playing jungle with passive stacks.
