I was wondering what if Jayce can buy an item that lock him into one of his stances.

If he buy said item he would be stuck in one stance only but he gets bonuses instead. His ult would be replace by and empower ability like hiem/karma. The item can also gives him bonus stat based on which one he buy similar to how Viktor item gives him stat but Jayce only but it once.

**If he buy the Mercury Cannon he get even more of an increase in attack ranged **

Empower Q- let him charge his q before firing because he charges it does more damage which can be even more amplify when fire through acceleration gates.

Empower W-let him shoots 5 auto instead of 3

Empower E- also apply a slow to enemies

Buying Mercury Hammer on the other hand he has bonus defensive stats

Empower Q-has increase ranged

Empower W- has a bigger aoe

Empower E-also stun enemies after being knock back

**Maybe we can even have a third option to buy/not buy either item and he can be played pretty much the same. **

TL:DR

when he buy either the Mercury Hammer or Mercury Cannon he is choosing to be a certain role or a certain play style.

Mercury Cannon is more of an ADC

Mercury Hammer is more of a Diving Fighter

Jayce's core concept to his kit is his stance dance where you constantly change which you are in depending on what you need. If you remove this then there is no core concept to him even if it is optional for you to remove it. Though I do agree Jayce need some work on a fundamental level this isn't it.

What if Nid could buy an item that would lock her in her couger form? What if Elise could buy an item that would lock her in her human form? What if Gnar could buy an item that would lock him in his monster form?

It makes no sense. You've literally locked them out of half of their kit.
