Champion Concept

Yuka is a bruiser who survives in the thick of combat by avoiding damage rather than enduring it. She's fit for fighting one-on-one even while her target's allies are trying to kill her from behind, but she works by focusing on one enemy at a time.

Lore

Gender: Female Race: Human Birthplace: Iori Village, Ionia Residence: Ionia, no fixed abode Occupation: Wandering bladeswoman, vigilante Faction: Ionia

A beautiful but deadly executioner of those who have overstepped, Yuka dances through battlefields, reaching and striking down her targets in a flash, parrying and dodging incoming attacks without fail.

Yuka grew up in the quiet village of Iori. Doted on by her mother and never knowing her father, who died to illness before she was even born, Yuka idolized her mother and strove to be like her in every way. One day, after an afternoon spent exploring a tranquil forest, Yuka stumbled upon her mother in a clearing, though not in a way that she ever had before. Her mother was quietly practicing with a beautiful polearm - a naginata, her movements mesmerizing and dance-like. After nearly an hour of being watched, Yuka's mother finally turned and smiled softly at her. Almost immediately, Yuka asked her mother to teach her to fight the way she had. After nearly a month's constant begging, Yuka eventually got her wish.

Uryi style, as her mother taught her, was about finesse, motion, and focus, dodging and weaving between enemy strikes while never taking your eyes from your primary enemy. Awareness of your surroundings was also key to the style. The forest clearing was a quiet place, perfect for learning to focus on the minute differences in the world around her, and Yuka spent hours there, just learning to clear her mind to make use of Uryi style. A year after the day Yuka discovered her mother in the forest, Yuka received her first training weapon and began learning the motions of Uryi style. Years flew by, and Yuka mastered her mother's dance-like martial art, but her mother never bequeathed her a true weapon of her own. Something was lacking in the eager but still-innocent Yuka.

Perhaps she would have discovered the truth in a different way, but the realities of the world had a different plan for Yuka. One day, while Yuka's mother was battling a minor illness, Noxian invaders closed in on Iori village. Her mother and the others in the village that were fit to bear arms marched to protect their home, but only her mother's naginata returned to Yuka. Yuka's mother's poise and focus had been compromised by her illness, and an enemy's blade struck true. Without shedding a tear, Yuka took her mother's weapon in hand and went off alone to face the Noxians. She found them, a squad of two dozen or more soldiers, a few hours south of her village, and immediately raised her weapon and demanded a duel with the man who had killed its former owner.

From amidst the Noxian ranks one soldier laughed, a heavily-armored man with a wicked broadsword. Snarling in rage, Yuka charged, weaving and dodging between a gale of blades on all sides. She reached her foe in seconds, and felled him with a single jab to the joints of his chestplate. With her mother avenged, Yuka turned, selected a new enemy, and struck him down. On she fought, choosing an enemy, killing him, and then selecting another, while the heavens above let down a sheet of rain. Only after all the Noxians were dead did Yuka allow herself to fall to her knees and grieve openly for her mother.

Left with nothing but her mother's teachings and blade, Yuka enlisted in the army and helped fight back the invaders, but her own fighting didn't end with the war. No matter how she tried, she couldn't find peace in her life. Instead, she wandered the land quietly, tracking down enemies who threatened her homeland and striking them down.

Her small battle with the Noxian squad had never ended. The battlefield had simply become all of Valoran, and the Noxians had become anybody who threatened Ionia.

“Yuka is strong, but the war touched her deeply. I fear that she stands on a blade’s edge between balance and chaos.” – Irelia.

While fighting, her movements begin somewhat stiff, with her attack animations becoming looser and more graceful as she builds up stacks of Poise. Once she has 6 or more, she would begin making parrying motions occasionally when taking enemy autoattacks. For her taunt animation, she stirs up a storm of blossoms and slices every one of them in half with a few slices of her weapon, while during her joke she tries the same but merely causes them to blow away from her. During her dance animation she plants the pointed end of her weapon in the ground, leans against it, and begins quietly playing a Shamisen. During her death animation, she first drives her naginata into the ground and leans forward against it. She quickly sinks to her knees and bows her head, but doesn't fall to the ground.

During her recall, she stands quietly while a breeze whips up around her, causing her hair and loose clothing to dance in it. Near the end of her animation, a storm of blossoms appears around her, obscuring her, and then drift away, revealing her to have vanished. The same happens in reverse back at her team's fountain when she reappears at it. After casting Petal Gale, Yuka leaves motion blurs as she moves, and is obscured by flowing petals.

While running, she holds her arms out slightly behind her, her weapon in her right hand with its blade pointed away from her. During the beginnings of her walking animation after performing an autoattack, she holds her weapon ready, but after a time shifts into her normal movement animation. During her fast running animation, she leans closer to the ground, takes much faster strides, and holds her arms nearly parallel with her back.

Abilities

Innate: Blossom Dance

Yuka gains one Poise every time she lands a basic attack, stacking up to 10 times. For each Poise, Yuka gains (.5+(.1 per level))% damage reduction against all non-turret basic attacks. Every 3 seconds, Yuka consumes one Poise to heal (4+(1.5 per level)) health.

Starting at level 11, Yuka consumes one Poise every second while at five or more Poise.

Q: Piercing Strike

Cost: 30/35/40/45/50 mana Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 seconds Range: 650

Active: Yuka dashes to 125 units on the other side of the target enemy, deals (40/55/70/85/100 + 100% AD) physical damage, and applies on-hit effects.

The cooldown of Feather Strike is reduced by .5 seconds whenever Yuka gains Poise.

W: Ionian Wrath

Cost: 50 mana Range: 900 Cooldown: 24 seconds after activation

Passive: While Ionian Wrath is off cooldown, whenever an enemy champion inflicts damage to Yuka or a nearby allied champion, that enemy becomes Yuka's Focus for 6 seconds or until a different enemy champion inflicts greater damage with a single ability or basic attack to Yuka or a nearby allied champion than Yuka's Focus did.

Active: Yuka's Focus becomes Yuka's Target for 8 seconds, granting her vision of them and increasing her attack speed by (30/40/50/60/70)% for the same duration. Whenever Yuka's Target deals damage to Yuka with a basic attack, Yuka gains one Poise.

Yuka gains 30 movement speed while moving toward Yuka's Focus or Yuka's Target. Enemies can only see which enemy is Yuka's Focus if they have vision of Yuka.

(The damage dealt that determined Yuka's Focus is stored as a buff on Yuka until Yuka's Focus expires. This damage must be exceeded on either Yuka or an ally for her focus to switch. In the event of aoe damage, each champion within range is considered separately. In the case of damage over time abilities, the sum of the damage over time is considered once the damage of time effect completes. In the case of split damage from abilities or modified basic attacks, the sum of all damage types is considered per ability or attack.)

E: Numbing Thrust

Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 mana Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds

Active: Yuka's next basic attack within 6 seconds deals (50/75/100/125/150 + 50% AP) bonus magic damage and slows her target's movement speed by 50% and their attack speed by half that amount for 1.5 seconds.

Numbing Thrust resets Yuka's autoattack timer.

Ionian Wrath: Yuka's Target is stunned for the duration instead of slowed.

R: Petal Gale

Cost: 100 mana Cooldown: 110/90/70 seconds Range: 450

Yuka flourishes her weapon, becoming untargetable for .5 seconds, and then lashes out with a circular slash, inflicting (60/100/140 + (40% Bonus AD)) physical damage to nearby enemies.

For eight seconds, Petal Gale can be continually recast with a static 1-second cooldown between casts at the cost of 3 Poise per cast.

Strategy

Laning Yuka is adept at fighting at the top and even bottom lane, as she innately sustains herself and staves off damage from autoattacks while doing so. Always be sure to have high Poise before going in to trade, as it will reduce the damage you take both from your laning opponent and from their minions. Reconsider fighting early on, as Blossom Dance becomes very powerful as Yuka levels up, and she'll need attack speed to get the most out of it. Remember that activating Ionia's Wrath makes it very plain when you intend to all-in!

Be careful when considering using Yuka in the mid lane, as enemy mages are not at all bothered by Blossom Dance and can poke her from afar more quickly than Yuka can keep herself healed. The sustain from Blossom Dance is useless if Yuka cannot safely attack to build it up!

Be wary of ganks, as Yuka's only mobility is targeted and moves her toward an enemy. However, dodging an Elise's Cocoon or Lee Sin's Sonic Wave with Piercing Strike can save you a lot of damage.

Jungling Yuka boasts sustained clears thanks to Blossom Dance, but her lack of aoe damage means she's a slow clearer. Always start with item 1041Hunter's Machete. Either item 3715Skirmisher's Sabre or item 3706Stalker's Blade will work fine for Yuka, depending on your needs. For your enchant, Devourer would be best in most situations, as it would increase the speed at which Yuka gains Poise, giving her more survivability and hastening the speed at which she can cast Piercing Strike. Even with Devourer, be certain to gank when possible and secure the Dragon and Scuttle Crab.

Ganking Fortunately, you'll almost always know which enemy is Yuka's Focus when coming to gank, so there's no uncertainty about which enemy will be stunned by Numbing Slice. Be sure to activate Ionian Wrath as you move in, as it enables Numbing Slice to stun its victim and increases the damage Yuka deals. Be wary of counterganks early on, as Yuka is very poor at 2v2 combat until she has learned Petal Gale and has more attack speed to quickly gain Poise. While ganking the top or bottom lane, consider building Poise on the Scuttle Crab to increase your chances of survival.

Teamfighting If possible, wait for an ally to engage, and then activate Ionian Wrath and go in. Whichever enemy happens to be Yuka's Focus will likely be a useful foe to strike down, as they will almost certainly be an enemy carry. Use Piercing Strike and Petal Gale to reach your target safely and then to avoid their allies' attempts to peel you from them. Don't attempt to fight the enemy front line unless they happen to be Yuka's Target, as Yuka's only form of innate staying power relies on cooldowns and being able to keep fighting.

Countering Yuka Yuka thrives on trading autoattacks with enemy champions. Any champion that doesn't need to attack to defeat her, such as mages or AD casters, will put a lot of pressure on her. Enemies with strong combat-sustain are also effective against her, as Blossom Dance is slow to heal until Yuka's built up Poise. Mobile champions are also preferred, as Yuka needs to be able to reach and strike her target to build Poise or make use of Numbing Slice or Ionian Wrath.

If you see an ally become Yuka's Target, do everything in your power to protect them from Yuka. Her ability to trade with enemies is much weaker when they are not her target. Enemies with strong burst can kill Yuka before she's had a chance to build up Poise. Try to bully her early on and then pressure her away from your minions, as this will prevent her from building up Poise. Lastly, enemies with convenient sources of true damage are effective against her, as Blossom Dance will not reduce true damage. Try to avoid fighting her directly after she makes use of Petal Gale, as it boosts her defensive for a short time afterward.

For the next 8 seconds, Yuka gains (10/15/20)% bonus armor and magic resistance.

Hey! ^_^ Here are my thoughts on your concept!

Just a quick thing I want to say; I've been looking through ans plan on reviewing all the concepts for the CCOS and out all the ones I've seen so far this one is the one that has impressed m the most. Your lore is well written and actually conveys to me what kind of a person Yuka is. A lost individual hanging on to ideals that were never her own looking for a sense of peace (a little like Riven now I think about it). I also like how her lore actually describes her powers and kit. But anyway enough of the compliments! Here's your review!

Lore: I've already said what I have to say about this.

Q: Untargabilitly tends to be a rather frustrating to go up against:/ Considering this relatively spammable considering she lowers the Cd by AAing. Might cause some problems:/

W: idk about you but 117.5% attack amp sounds op as hell;) (you have a typo). I'm also not so sure how dealing a percent off your AAs as true damage is helpful as you think(?).

If we go with her two essential items Guinso's and Spirit Visage(?) I'm guestimating roughly 144 AD with a full rage blade. Lets say the enemy has enough armor to reduce AA's by 30% so your AA does around 100(not including rage blade passive) and with maxed ranked Ionian Wrath 20% is converted to true damage. So roughly 119 damage ish which is only a 19 damage increase. Ok I kind of did this on the fly so it might not be that accurate and you have a ton of AS and this scales as you get more AD but I think you should change it or buff it.

Damage: This was something that was bothering me when I read the kit. Where is the damage coming from?

She clearly scales off of AS, her passive, her Q, and her E encourage her to get in as many AA's as possible yet she doesn't have any natural AS in her kit? I kind of think this makes her really weak until she gets her rageblade(?) or AS item.

Items: I'm just curious but why Rageblade and Spirit Visage?

Rageblade is an item for hybrids that rely on AD/AP/AS like Jax and Kayle, the AP is wasted on Yuka and this items is likely to get nerfed in forseable future:/

Spirit Visage gives her health, MR, and CDR. She appreciates both MR and HP but she doesn't need it this early and CDR isn't useful as she has relatively low cooldowns naturally and doesn't rely on spells?

Seems like an interesting enough champion. Though I'm honestly not TOO sure about her ult, as it appears to me as simply a larger version of Fiora's Riposte.

Rito, you practically have everything thought out for you. Might as well make it happen! Nice work on the concept. (:

Hello!

First of all I want to say I like your concept, it's simple yet effective ^_^

However, I do feel like overall the character would be a bit weak

So I have a few comments about the kit

Passive I like it, cool idea, however, the way I see it, with its current numbers, this passive feels underhwelming. The damage reduction component itself is ok, nothing too crazy, however the heal seems rather weak. The change at level 11 where you consume 1 poise every 1 second makes me think that you want this passive to be more about the heal than the DR, so I have a suggestion. Don't increase the rate at which Poise is consumed (honestly I don't even see how you're supposed to go over 5 poise and stay there past level 11 unless you're being attacked by a high AS champ). Rather, make it so the heal scales with your current Poise. The heal would be stronger and also feel better for the player IMO.

W Very cool ability, it's kind of like Garen's vilain mechanic. However, it would be nice if you could mention how Yuka's target can switch. By that I mean : do you need to do more damage than the previous champion in 1 hit? Over 1 second? Over all of the duration of the effect? If the current target deals additional damage, does it raise the cap needed to make it so Yuka's target changes?

Maybe not put all that in the tooltip itself, but it would help to have those questions answered.

R The damage, especially at lower ranks, seems a bit low. I suppose it's because of the bonus resistances?

well it looks like someone dont even know what Ahri's lore is... she has stopped taking souls as she gather more life essences as she learns the feeling of regret, because she never knew or troubled her when she used to be a fox, so shes learning human nature, and learns that its not the right thing to do and thats why she stopped and joined the institute of war...
