So, following Shurima : Descent into the Tomb, Xerath is more or less missing. So i came up with this to fill in a possible outcome and explain Nocturne 's origin as well. . . . . . . Before Runeterra was introduced to the super continent of Valoran, the Monolith Was the only place where sentient beings held any form of power. Among them were Nocturne, Kindred, Soraka, and Hikari. At the time, each was mortal. The people of the Monolith practiced the art of elemental control (shadow, death, life, and light, respectively). However, tampering in other arts was punishable by eternal imprisonment. But as any wise man knows, curiosity is the driving force of creativity. Despite the ban on arcane magics, Nocturne began researching the Arcane Throne, which sits somewhere in the Fyrone Flats. The object held inconceivable power. Finally, temptation won him over. He left the Monolith and reached the place where it rested, hovering over the sea. Using everything he knew, Nocturne managed to unlock the Throne, and by doing so, created 2 worlds and granting him immortality. The Void was the place where Valoran's mass came from. The energy continued to flow out, turning what is now Shurima and similar areas into desert. Gaurdians from the Monolith came and sealed the object, among them Hikari, Soraka, and Kindred. The energy obliterated several of them, and the survivors gained immortality. Nocturne, his physical being destroyed, survived as a shadowy mass. He was punished, despite protests from his friends, to live in a box, sealed and guarded by a group of sentient beings made by the blast. They later became the Kinkou order. . . . . . . . When Zed was invited into the Master's house, he was told the tale of what existed in the box. The Master begged him to relinquish his crusade, but Nocturne's need for revenge overtook his strong will. Zed slew the Master and released Nocturne from his imprisonment. He immediately went into hiding. His strong mind read Shen's nightmare concerning Zed, and assumed the form of the Eternal Nightmare that we know and love . . . . . Xerath, before his imprisonment, read of the Arcane Throne. After he was released, he convinced Renekton and Cassiopeia to join him in his search for this ancient relic that could grant him control of all of Valoran.....

This is just an idea, please comment on your thoughts!
