A smoke/fog/cloud mage idea
Rode, the Boy of Obscurity
Smoky wand (Passive): Rode’s wand gives away his travel path by leaving behind a trail of cloudy smoke that reduces the magic resist of enemy champions for four seconds (more magic resist is reduced the longer they remain in the trail of smoke, and the duration is refreshed with each tick). Rode and Nebula ignore each other’s’ unit collision.
Pressurized cloud (Q): Rode charges (and by doing so, slows himself by 10%) for up to 2 seconds before releasing a cloudy jet that damages all targets struck. The cloud stops at the first enemy champion struck and slows it for 1 second; the slower is more powerful the longer pressurized cloud was charged. If pressurized cloud is charged to its maximum, it will stun the first champion struck instead. Rode can use summoner spells and his other abilities while charging, but cannot basic attack.
Damage: Medium Range: Medium Cooldown: Moderate
Vapor screen (W): Rode surrounds himself in a cloudy veil, gaining a shield against physical damage for six seconds. As long as vapor screen is up, Rode’s basic attacks deal additional magic damage (but not more than once every second). Taking magic damage while vapor screen is up causes rode’s next pressurized cloud to heal him for 20% of the total damage dealt to champions.
Shield: Moderate Cooldown: Moderately long Damage: Medium-low
Poof! (E): Rode jumps toward his target location (becoming untargetable for a brief 0.5 seconds), disappears from his original location, and reappears instantly at his target location. Rode can store up to two charges of poof!, and the recharge timer ticks twice as fast when he has one charge of poof! left (ex. 25 seconds instead of 50).
Cooldown: Very long (Think Ashe/Quinn's vision abilities), but 2x shorter if he has at least one charge
Summon: Nebula (R): Rode summons Nebula on his location in a huge cloud swirl of smoke, dealing magic damage to enemies within the smoke when Nebula is summoned. Nebula then remains on the field for 20 seconds, and Rode can control his movement and attacks. Enemies within Nebula’s fog radius cannot see anything but Nebula, regardless of damage taken from any source or vision granted by allies, allied items, and allied abilities.
Damage: Medium (Pretty huge AoE, however) Cooldown: Very high (Think Karthus ultimate) Vision cloud radius of Nebula: A few teemos
**Summary ** So I got this idea of a cloud/fog mage as almost of an antithesis of Lux while playing precisely Lux. I love mages with wands (like Veigar, etc.), and I'd love to see a mobile caster with the ability to cloud vision and throw mini-puffs of smoke at people. Unlike lux or veigar, Rode has a powerful mobility spell that sets him apart as a poke mage. However, its drawback is that it has a very, very long cooldown. Its strength is that it can disjoint projectiles and acts as his secondary defensive/outplay ability with its short invulnerability frame. And if he doesn't spam poof!, he'll have it up more often. In lane, I imagine him having a poke-oriented playstyle, where he charges his Q's to damage lane minions and harass the enemy at the same time (a huge advantage as compared to a poke mage like Lux, who has to find an opening in the minions to snare her opponents). His Q is also his strongest ability, acting as a more powerful Xerath Q with a relatively short cooldown (shorter than 10 seconds). It'll only hit one champion in teamfights, though. His W, Vapor screen, lets him duel melee assassins and marksmen alike with great effectiveness, unlike most other mages and even mobile ap casters (Leblanc). As an added bonus, if he can avoid taking too much damage, his basic attacks will also deal bonus magic damage to his targets (but not too often, so Nashor's tooth won't be a super effective item). With Poof!, his super-long cooldown mobility spell, he can dart around the battlefield to set up charged stuns for his team and land his powerful AoE ultimate, Summon: Nebula. Good control of his summoned pet will allow him to effectively shut down any champion(s) on the enemy team unwary of their positioning after Nebula enters the battlefield by clouding their vision of everything besides Nebula. A true master of Rode can completely destroy enemy teams by taking away their greatest asset with Nebula and set up powerful plays for his team with his mobility, poke, and stun.
