Welcome, summoners, to the Monthly Champion Creation Contest of June, 2015! For this month's competition, it is I, Keagn, who shall be your host! As is often the case, this will be a four week competition where you all shall create new champions (based off of this specific MCCC) to see which of you can create the best champion within the provided guidelines. Now, since guidelines are fairly deadly to creativity, we shall try to keep these at a minimum. As far as judging goes, the rubric is fairly straight forward, so treat it like your yellow-brick road, and you should be fine!

#Schedule:

  • June 1st-15th: Accepting Entries. Must have name to be considered an entry.
  • June 15th-20th: Contest Entries are closed. Time to work on your concepts!
  • June 21st: Any concepts missing lore, name, or a complete abilities section are disqualified.
  • June 22nd-29th: Judging!
  • June 30th+: Announcing winners.

#Theme

"Another glorious conquest, Lord Ahimoth." mused an armored man adorning a blood-red hood. The mysterious figure spoke through a steel blade of about average size, and it radiated with a simple, yet powerful magic long abandoned from common use. Etched onto the handle was the figure's true name, illegible to all except those who know it. The man starred at the scene with his glowing blue eyes, focused primarily on the scene of destruction down bellow. The Institute of War and some of its most famous champions laid in waste just a few miles out from where he stood, the handiwork of the Incarnate. A minor feat, but a major step towards the intended end game.

"Remember where your loyalty lies. I do not appreciate your jests, Shade." Ahimoth grumbled at the void. The demonic-red man had already left the ruins and returned to his throne room, a chamber crafted of slate black stone bricks carved out from a vast cavern. A pool of blood rested in the center of the room, disturbed only by a pulsating energy which originated from the pool's center. Close behind him, a shadow with the same glowing blue eyes the hooded man possessed.

"I meant no ill will, my Lord," the Shade mused, "but one must wonder what our next move is. I can confirm that the Shaman is already gathering forces against you. I advise you to do the same."

"Then see to it, I have other matters to attend to."

A radiating purple blade cut through the black portal through which the Shade contacted his lord, causing it to dissipate. Perhaps the hooded figure was grinning within the shadows, however one could not be certain. However, beneath his guise, the workings of his mission had already been sent into motion. Within a few days' time, countless marauders would come to Lord Ahimoth, pledging their service in exchange for some form of power. Desperate, perhaps...or perhaps...

Some just love to watch the world burn. And those are exactly the kind of people we need.

#Challenges

Hate to break it to you guys, but chaos and evil come with the territory. Any kindness you come in with, we'll purge from you. Quickly.

Initiation:

The call has gone out to every corner of Runeterra, springing forth from every shadow, every corrupt or tortured soul. A simple deal, for a simple need. Lord Ahimoth has no need for petty recruits, but for experts who know how things are done. However, before you join the ranks of the Dark Legion, you must first prove your worth:

IF YOUR CHAMPION CLASSIFIES AS A FIGHTER/TANK:

The Shade has provided you with information concerning various points of strategic worth. Your goal is to take out the defenses of these locations, and seize control of the site. Any resistance you come across in your mission is for you to deal with. You may assault these locations in teams of up to three (3).

IF YOUR CHAMPION CLASSIFIES AS A MARKSMAN/ASSASSIN:

Lord Ahimoth requires your skills for a very...specific task. Targets spread out across Valoran pose a significant threat to our plans in days to come. Take out your provided target, and return to the Shade with spoils to prove your kill.

IF YOUR CHAMPION CLASSIFIES AS A MAGE:

Lord Ahimoth has need of various magical artifacts located across Valoran. Retrieve one of these artifacts, and return it to the Shade for your reward.

IF YOUR CHAMPION CLASSIFIES AS A SUPPORT:

While you may not bring about destruction, there's not a doubt in my mind you'll make yourselves useful. You may either join an existing siege party , or you may retrieve one of our captured supporters, and aid them in their escape.

(Information concerning your targets will be provided upon official entry!)

#Rubric

Lore Rubric: Does your lore accurately display the functions of your champion, does it hit home and stir emotion, and how well is it written(or typed, I guess)? Since this is my only second MCCC, The rubric may be similar to my last. However, with this MCCC, The kit, ability synergy, and lore will critically affect your score just as much as balance and even more than creativity. Anyway, back on topic, here's some of the criteria regarding your entrant's lore:

Clarity-syntax does your lore have proper spelling and grammar?

Fluidity-does your lore flow well in story going from point to point and makes sense?

Theme- does your lore have a strong thematic approach?

Motivation- does your lore explain how they got their powers and why they joined this particular competition? Why does your champion exist?

Tone and mood- how does it read and does it inspire emotional or positive response? Does the reader like reading it?

Originality- is your lore original or unique? Does it keep the reader interested?

Lore is scored x/20 points.

Theme) Do the abilities and lore fit the overall theme?

Theme is scored x/10.

Lore Ability Synergy) Do your abilities reflect your character?

LAS is scored x/10.

Abilities/kit(and balance...don't forget balance)

Is your champion balanced? Are they fun to play with, against, or as? Is your champion's kit unique, or different from existing champions'? How are the character's mechanics? Are they clunky or confusing? Does the enemy have a way to fight back against your character? If not, then your entrant may need a mass rework.

Abilities/Kit are scored x/30.

Creativity) Is the champion creative and original, or is it at least an interesting take on something that has already been done/existed?

Creativity is scored x/15.

Kit Cohesion Synergy) Does everything in your abilities section work well together?

Cohesion Synergy is scored x/10.

[Note: The secret lore challenge will be worth x/5 points]

######((Rubric look familiar? I sure hope it does!))

#Entrants

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask! I will answer any and all questions that you guys have, so don't hold back if you need to know something! You can expect more lore challenges up ahead as well. If you are instead interested in judging, feel free to request a judging position, and add me on the League Client. As always, may the odds be ever in your favor ;^)

#JUDGING IS COMPLETED!

I have the scoresheet filled out all nice and neat, scores are finalized. The 2nd Secret Lore Challenge wasn't really undergone by anyone, but everyone who did their primary challenge received 3 points, so there aren't many differences that would exist. Like I said, a 2 point margin for error, although I think as far as it all goes, it wouldn't make a big enough difference, as it wouldn't change who won.

With popular demand, expect the results as early as tomorrow, as late as Monday, and be ready to do it all over again Wednesday!!!

Ugh Leroy, teasers appear when someone decides they want to host the next one and post it at the end of threads like this and effectively call dibs.

#Found on Page One....

"We have seen a wide variety of willing creatures pledge themselves to you, Lord Ahimoth." the Shade's voice echoed through hallowed halls of black stone. Ahimoth rose from his throne and began walking to the balcony, overlooking the masses that had answered the Shade's call.

Something within the devilish lord resented the aid, after all, Ahimoth had taken down both the empire of Shurima, and the Institute of War without aid. As the time approached, paranoia filled Ahimoth's mind, and ignorant pride flooded his heart. Ahimoth began to doubt the Shade's intentions, although his lieutenant had never failed him before, not even in their former existence. Why would he doubt him now...

"My lord," said the Shade, interrupting Ahimoth's thoughts, "your army awaits your command."

Ahimoth nodded, and stepped forward to the balcony's edge, causing silence to fall upon the masses bellow him. After a long pause, Ahimoth opened his mouth, and spoke:

"Those who stand here now have proven themselves loyal to me, to which I will test this loyalty yet again. For too long the City of Justice has represented an incorruptible symbol of hope, the shimmering light of Valoran. It is within our power, that in seven days' time, the shimmering walls of Demacia will stand no more."

The crowd bellow bellowed and cheered in support, to which Lord Ahimoth simply turned away and let the Legion carry on their uproar. There was no sense in bothering them with the details, the Shade would see to those. For now, Ahimoth had his own problems to worry about...

"Are you certain he said it was 'Ahimoth' my dear boy? Are you absolutely sure?"

A elderly man with whitened hair, and a clean shaven face paced back and forth next to Ezreal's bedside. It had only been a few hours ago that a scouting party had retrieved the poor prodigy. The damage was evident, but the extent was less so. The boy's body had obviously experienced a great deal of shock, as poor Ezreal could hardly hold himself upright, or form words, for that matter. However, he did manage to nod to the elderly man to respond.

A worried expression formed on his face, and the man rushed out into the halls, murmuring something about warning the King, and alerting the Order. There was much to be done if Ahimoth has been behind all of these attacks, much to be done indeed. Hopefully, Vishas had some answers to these questions. There was not a doubt in the old man's mind that Ahimoth would come back for vengeance on Demacia, but if the rumors were true, the City of Justice had a very slim chance of surviving his wrath.

Members of the Dark Legion, we march forward to Demacia! Their forces will meet us in our march, as will their allies. Do what you will to fight them off, for our true mission starts at their walls!

Entries will join up in groups of three (3) to form assault parties in the siege for Demacia. For each member of your assault party, the Legion will provide two (2) legionnaires to assist you in your fight. You must post a comment with the names of the contestants you will be working with, at which point I will provide you with the needed information of your other members. I do expect some deaths, but death does not mean losing the competition, or necessarily the end for that matter. A follow up will be made on the 18th in continuation of this assault, and a final entry on the day of the competition's completion. Best of luck to you all!

Its in a small room that the Ebon Bolt wakes up, groggy and still not entirely sure what hit him. Small pieces of his memory start returning to him, first that he was trying to find Envoy and second that he was interrupted.

Breathing in, he began to work through it all again. What could have dragged him out of his mist form? He was as good as a breeze...

"So you're awake now?"

Following the voice to the right he looked into the eyes of a beautiful woman, floating a foot and a half above the ground, leaning forward looking at him. Startled, Arc jerks away, pulling the chair he was apparently tied to down with him amusing the floating woman. It took him about half a second to figure out who she was, and a little less than that after to put the final piece into what happened to him.

His first thought after that was quite simply 'Fuck'.

Janna, the Storm's Fury, a master of wind magic, of all the people on Runeterra she was the one that could tear him out of his mist. More likely than not tear him apart as he was mist. So why was he even alive?

"I guess I am now..." Arc responds, trying to figure out how to get the damn chair back up.

"You really don't look so dangerous up close little killer." Janna comments, "Now why would that Shaman have wanted you alive I wonder?"

"Sha..." Vishas? Oh shit, I couldn't be here in the hands of the enemy, Demacia was about to be put to siege damnit!

"Well," Janna began, "You seem to be smarter than you look which is something."

Arc turned his head to glare at her, to which she giggled. What's wrong with her?

"Why am I still alive?"

Janna's giggles fade away and she looks at Arc, tilting her head slightly. "What do you mean?"

"I'm sure as hell not a friend of yours, I'm not a friend of Vishas, I'm not a friend of... anyone alive really, If you can kill me why don't you?"

"You left Ezreal alive," and the reply shocked him, he left Ezreal alive yes, but that was on the side of a mountain with no supplies or cart and he was barely breathing without chocking on his own blood._ I killed three of the people traveling with him too, not to mention however many I slaughtered while I was corrupted by the Shadow Isle. I deserved to die, I was resolved to die, I WANTED TO DIE DAMNIT ALL!_

"What will happen to me then?" Arc asks, hoping that he will end up dead.

"I don't know," Janna says "Vishas came, looked at you, said he had other business and left. Ezreal also came, glowered, punched you a couple times, then left. I expect that when all the fighting is over that's when Vishas is going to come and figure out what to do with you."

"And you are here to make sure I don't get away?"

"Oh no, we've already enchanted this room to prevent you from turning into your mist or dark wind, and the magnets below the floor will ground you if you try to leave as lightning."

"Why the hell are you here then?"

"Show me how to make lightning"

Arc and Janna looked back at each other, Janna took the moment of silence to prop Arc's chair, and him with it, back up. Doubting that the Shade would try to find someone who got caught so easily, or that he would even know where he was once he got out, Arc seemed to Deflate a little. The albino knew that there were going to be some long days ahead of him.

"At the core of lightning is pure energy, as is the motion of wind although that's a different kind. You have to figure out..."

Alright guys, a little more than half the judging is done. I was going to score Venture Team, but after going through a few concepts, all I got was a headache trying to understand the complexity. I will be releasing scores at EXACTLY the same time, via sharing the scoresheet. The winner will be announced then as well, actually mentioned instead of you just having to go to the scoresheets.

Until then...

######brace yourselves...

Keagn6/25/2015, 10:38:38 PM1 votes

There are three (Count em', 3) concepts left to judge! I could power through these tonight, or I could save them for tomorrow, but by Saturday all concepts will have been scored. And as this MCCC ends, I encourage you all to start looking ahead for July's MCCC. Expect the unexpected my friends >;]

Keagn6/26/2015, 10:02:13 PM1 votes

One more concept to judge, and so far I'm seeing quite a lot of ties. But the real question is, are any of these ties for first place?!?!?

Only time will tell ;)

ElementLlama6/26/2015, 11:13:11 PM1 votes

Will there be a breakdown for each champion or just the points each achieved?

Kamiroo Wolf6/27/2015, 8:44:21 AM1 votes

Can you believe the nerve of this Arc guy? He calls me up with a letter asking if I can aid him in dropping the walls of Demacia, but then the turkey never shows. It's a shame too. Would have been a fun distraction from the Bandle City related dreams I've been having. I scratch my chin and wait a bit longer for the Ebon Bolt, and, to my surprise, am met by some half naked guy with a staff. This Arc guy sure knows how to dress.

“That you, Arc? Let's hurry up and get this wall down...I have other matters to atten-" I approach the not-so-streaker and get cut off mid sentence by a slug to the face! This Arc kid doesn't know who he's fucking with. I rise to my feet and shake off the aching in my jaw before getting into a simple, but authentic, street fighting stance. It was at that moment that I'm sure Arc knew that he fucked up! I rush the pansy nudist and go for a devastating right hook way too early, by I manage to catch the basket on his back when he turns and rolls away from the punch. A bit dramatic but hey. I take a step closer and feel my foot catch something as Arc rises to his own feet. I look down and see some kind of shrine beneath my feet. I stop and look closer at it and notice a fuse.

"Goddamnit!" Is all I can manage before I am sent sky high by an unholy concoction of gunpowder and Arcanium. About forty feet up in the air the half-naked dude greets me just as gravity kicks in. He slaps one of those shrines on my chest and we both stop, caught in the hold of...what? Time? Space? Who cares...all I know is that I'm not falling to my death and that's ok with me.

“Unfortunately, Mr. Sylace, you have me confused with someone else. My name is Vishas, The Omniscient Shaman and I am the leader of The Order. Since I suspect you may be a bit dense I suppose I should inform you as to what it is this 'not-so-streaker' is talking about. The 'slug' was for Bandle City, by the way." Vishas, who appears to float before me as I sit frozen...in mid air...just outside of Demacia, criss crosses his legs. The stuff emanating from his eyes isn't Arcanium, but what the hell is it?

“Eight months ago I was approached by the goddess Vaiya and warned of the impending Armageddon on it's way to Valoran. She insisted that I, with her aid, raise a force and gather followers to help the worthy stand against the end of the world. Skeptical at first, I questioned the goddess and demanded more information. She simply explained that it would be much easier for me to accept her into my very being if I wanted information and so I did just that. Once merged I was greeted by an onslaught of visions that depicted what was to become of Runeterra under Armageddon's rule. The name of Armageddon you ask? The one you are currently catering too...Ahimoth himself. I have indeed collected most of the followers required to stand against his own, but one still remains. This is why I float here before you today." Vishas' words are laced with ancient wisdom, but the shaman in front of me couldn't be a day older. Damn. What's his secret? Anyway, Vishas removes the shrine from my chest and we slowly fall to the ground as if a pair of disgraced angels. I ask him what it is he wants of me and his response is a firm hand on my shoulder.

Almost instantaneously, a wide variety of visions are projected into my...well, vision. Blood. Fire. I can even smell...burning fur. I am being shown the remnants of Bandle City? I have already seen this...and I sure as hell don't want to see it again.

“You are the one responsible for bringing to fruition just one of the nightmarish outcomes of Ahimoth's dominion, I am aware. You are also the one responsible for cremating a good amount of our potential recruits. I know the guilt and weight of your subconscious are holding you down more than the chains embedded into your flesh. Under the rule of Ahimoth...whose to say you won't cause more suffering?" Vishas asks me really slow as more horrendous visions than Bandle City take control of my mind. Somewhere...I don't know where....I am screaming and sweating. I can feel my heart race as the bodies pile up, and the virtual blood on my hands becomes a sludge devouring my very soul! Everyone is whispering my name, everyone says I am the one to blame! I roar and shut my eyes as my legs buckle and I feel myself slam into the dirt. The chains on my back grow still and silent as an orange vortex splits open beside my body. Out of it, steps my master, and the last thing I see before blacking out is her approach Vishas with eyes flaring.

When I come to, my master is seated on a rock with her hands over her mouth as if she just got the worst news of her life. Vishas stands not too far away, scribbling into the air like a mad man. I remember all too well why I blacked out and can't shake the feeling that this shaman's presence is BIG for us.

“Try not to move her. She's currently experiencing the same visions you did. I must say, you took the bad news like quite the little girl. Screaming, fainting, shaking, and what not." Vishas jabs at me without even looking my way and I turn towards my master and watch her view the images. Even distressed, she is the most elegant and beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her flaming orange, but short hair dances with the light breeze and the dress she is wearing gives off just enough leg to get any male onlooker going. Hell, maybe even most females. Perhaps that is why Vishas is facing away from her. Her eyes crackle as if they are embers in the liveliest of hearthfires, and she let's out a rather seductive sigh as the visions come to an end. Vishas catches me in the head with a piece of cloth and tells me to wipe the drool off my lip. I flip the shaman off and wipe my lip before analyzing the cloth in my hand.

“Wh-Where the hell did this cloth come from?!" I ask Vishas and my voice begins to raise itself. My master rises to her feet and the shaman turns his attention back to her.

“I do hope you and your servant will aid us in the upcoming battle. It was an honor speaking to you Miss...?" Vishas bows and awaits the name of my master, but she just looks at me for at least a minute and sighs.

“Enai, thank you. It's a strange name, but the one I was born with nonetheless." My master nods toward the shaman and turns toward me with a serious expression. Vishas informs me that the cloth in my hand is a piece of his loincloth that he had been meaning to stitch back on before he himself fades from view. I spit immediately and toss the fabric into the wind before my master approaches me places both of her hands on my shoulders gently. I nearly lose myself right there, to be honest. She looks me dead in the eye before she speaks. Just her voice is euphoric, and some may confuse my feelings for Stockholm Syndrome, but I'm pretty sure I'm just in love.

“The Plan has changed, Winston. I'd like you to travel to Ionia and join Vishas' army known as The Order. He will be able to restore the death you have caused and, hopefully, the stability of your conscience. In order to restore those you have killed, however, it will cause quite a bit if the Arcanium you have gathered for me in the past. Are you willing?" She looks into my eyes and her pupils scramble both my brains and my heart. If that means that I am going to have to work for her longer, then I am definitely up for it. I nod seriously towards my master and I notice a smile crack on her face as she let's go of me and and exits through the same vortex she came in through. It's good to be me, sometimes.

Winston “Wrecking Ball" Sylace has defected over to the side of Vishas and has joined The Order.

RocketRelm6/29/2015, 9:15:02 AM1 votes

It turns out that there's quite a defection trend from azimuth to visha so far. I wrote up a smaller lore update, and I do like the world we're crafting here.

Also managed to do a couple reviews, which is always nice.

oRELMo, uhhh, results were released for the MCCC a little while before you posted, here is a link to it if you can't find it among all the other discussions. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/N3mEY2o3-june-mccc-calling-of-the-legion-the-results

Oh, I was just posting a little extra flavor thing simply for the sake of writing a thing up, I knew judging was past. However I didn't expect results to be in another thread, so thanks. I'll go look now.

Can we do multiple submission? Or are we allowed to pull out and start over with another champion, since i had another concept up that i think is better and i really just want to write more

I recognize two of the entrants here :O where did everyone go?

Crap. I've been so busy recently that I completely missed the introduction of the second Lore Challenge. What is the current state of that? Can Venture Team still join in?

RocketRelm6/22/2015, 4:03:40 AM1 votes

I honestly have no idea what is going on with the second challenge, really. I know so far everything has been fun and exciting though, albeit wondering how we get 'new champion challenge' out of a continuation of this story next month.

Keagn6/22/2015, 2:27:15 PM1 votes

#JUDGING BEGINS TODAY!

I will begin judging concepts today in the order they appear on the list. Everything except for part 2 of the Lore Challenge will be taken into consideration now, as it is a bit unfair to hold concepts to unequal standards. Now there are 12 current entries, and 7 days, so I will be keeping a pace of 2-3 concepts per day, perhaps finishing a little early. At the contest's end, I will have the final entry for the Calling of the Legion storyline, which [Spoiler] includes the breaking of Demacia's wall. For those of you participating in the second part, do not mention the walls destruction, and do not have your concepts overrun Demacia. I'm sure most of you will give it that much credit, after all, some of the strongest champions come from Demacia (two of which are dead, but my point stands).

Feel free to mention any of these guys in your writing, just have a bit of restraint when you go killing:

Vayne Fiora Sona XinZhao JarvanIV Galio

(and possibly more)

Best of luck to you all!

PS: Do not edit your concept in the midst of judging. It is HIGHLY frowned upon. Perhaps stats/damage values, but major changes are a no-go.
