Trying to revive Ao Shin
disclaimer: i do not have a knowledge of balancing champions or items, so there may be need of a lot of adjustment before possibly being implemented
You may have heard that Ao Shin has been canceled and used as inspiration for a new champion that will come out later this year. Personally I am not ready to let go of the fortune storm Chinese dragon in favor of the more European sun dragon. So I will take a hiatus from trying to come up with more immobile champions that have absolutely no mobility in their kit in order to try and rekindle the fire looking to bring Ao Shin to the fields of justice. Before I start giving an idea to attempt to revive Ao Shin I want to mention that I will not try to come up with some lore (that still refers to the institute of war, because lets be honest while riot says it is no longer a thing, there are still features to the game that suggest that is false and riot's excuse was just lazy) as riot probably already had enough ideas for the dragons lore (in other words this is just an idea of a kit that's purpose is to spark ideas for Ao Shin's potential revival/release).
Range: 575
Explanation: I went for a utility mage approach, and zyra was the first to mind ... so as most of the champs I created and posted I just copied the range of an existing champion ...
Passive: Ao Shin's spells apply stack(s) of this passive. Once Ao Shin gets a kill or assist on this champion, all whom participated in the kill gets gold equal to the number of stack(s) consuming said stack(s).
Explanation: The rest of this kit feeds into this giving Ao Shin tools to secure kills. While the utility (in the rest of the kit) and emphasis on kill participation is nice for the support, it could be easier to get this kill participation as a roaming mid laner or a laner looking for some tp plays. I went through some more damage oriented passives, but I couldn't come up with an idea that portrayed Ao Shin as someone whom brings fortune. That of course is until the idea of a mage version of Draven's passive came to mind (which of course gave birth to this passive). Unless otherwise noted each spell only applies one stack.
Q: (cost: 75/80/85/90/95 mana, 7/6.5/6/5.5/5s cd) Ao Shin summons a small storm dealing damage (60/95/130/165/200 +50% ap) magic damage over time and applying a slow (25% for 1s, and doesn't stack with itself only reapplied) in a small area. This spell can apply up to 3 stacks of his passive. This also passively gives Ao Shin 2/4/6/8/10 ap.
Explanation: The W was the first to come to mind when i tried to come up with abilities for Ao Shin, and this was the second. The only reason I put the passive there is because i felt 1) it need something to seperate this from the ult (since I couldn't think of anything different for the ult) 2) he needed a little more complicated kit.
W: (cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana, 15/14/13/12/11s cd) Ao Shin calls upon the winds, giving him a speed boost (40/45/50/55/60% for 1.5s). After casted Ao Shins next spell deals 40/85/130/175/220 +50% ap bonus magic damage, stuns, and applies a second stack of his passive.
Explanation: The first ability that came to mind when i thought of a storm dragon was a speed boost. However I wanted all of Ao Shin's abilities to have cc in them, so I added "next spell does" bit. I do fail to put cc on all of the abilities, but I feel it is okay for that ability because it still has a supportive aspect to it.
E: (cost: 90/105/120/135/150 mana, 14/13/12/11/10s cd) This is a straight line skill shot that deals 50/100/150/200/250 +100% ap, knocks up, and stops at the first enemy champion hit.
Explanation: I needed a knock up (and putting it on the ult made it feel to much like zyra's ult to me), at least a higher ap ratio than the others, and to keep the theme of skill shots (to give the bringing fortune or ruin to a team more obvious, esspecially when you take the passive into consideration).
R: (cost: 100 mana, 120/110/100s cd) Ao Shin summons a great storm that heals allies and damages enemies. This heals/deals 50/75/100 +50% ap hp/damage, and applies up to 5 stacks of Ao Shins passive.
Explanation: Once Again I have failed putting some cc into this ability (but if i had to i would put a slow on it), but I feel okay with it since it can heal allies. I couldn't think of anything else that felt right, and if i had to change anything about this kit I would either move the slow to the ult and make a completely different ability that also deals damage and slows, or just change the ult. The low damage/heal on the ult is just another incentive to build ap. At first glance the amount of stacks of the passive this kit gives out may look over powered, but at a closer inspection one rotation of these spells gives anyone who participated in the kill about 5 gold less than the base gold for a caster minion according to lolwiki (so if anything the kit would probably need more stacks per rotation).
and that is it, I would love to her your thoughts (as long as it's not hateful/toxic), and I hope you liked this quick idea
