#Short Lore

Rhona is a hextech engineer who works for her own ends. Taken from Piltover as a child, she was given to the service of a Zaunite which co-opted her and her intelligence into creating war machines of Noxus. Faintly aware, but never truly understanding the scope of her work, the illusion was finally shattered when she heard of the horrors her work had helped to unleash. Shocked, but conscious of her actions, she fled the laboratory where she worked, taking her most elegant work with her, vowing to never let her work be used for evil again.

#Ability Overview

##Overview

Rhona is a mage/support who specialises in dictating zones of control, while also using her support and defensive capabilities to protect her team. She can be quite successful in the mid lane, though she can also find herself a niche in the bot lane as a protector/caster support, or even as a semi-decent jungler.

Rhona's passive is Call of Progress, which passively causes dead bodies to linger as holographic images on the battlefield for a moderate duration. Rhona can send out a Research Bot to investigate their presences, which, after a short duration, will return to her. This will grant her Research. Rhona can spend Research at the shop to improve her abilities. Her basic abilities have 3 tiers of upgrades, of which she can choose 1 per tier, while her ulimate only has 1 tier. If an enemy destroys a bot, she will require some time in order to recreate one.

Rhona's Q is Prismatic Beam, which fires a single target skillshot in a line. If it contacts an enemy, it will deal damage and heavily slow them for a short duration. This is her main damage skill, and allows her to pick off enemies, or set them up for her other abilites. Various properties granted by Research may cause it to be specialised as a DPS spell, or to increase her CC capacity.

Rhona's W is Shield Battery, which deploys a device that grants shields every second to nearby units, up to a cap. This is her main defensive ability, and can be used to either prepare her team for an engage, or to safeguard squishies in the back line. The main Research focus for this ability allows it to be used either to bolster the general survivability of shield recipients, or to assist with their general damage capacity.

Rhona's E is D-314 Defender Bot, which deploys a small drone to fire on enemies which enter a target area. This serves as her main zone creation ability, as she can use them to either block off pathways in the jungle, or as a method of proxy attack against her enemies. Research for this ability main focuses on either helping them to increase their ability to zone out enemies, or to improve their capability as a source of DPS.

Rhona's R is Defensive Matrix, which is a channeled AoE spell centred on herself, which hardcaps the amount of damage an ally can take from a single attack. This is a very powerful spell, which should provide the backline, in particular hypercarries or other important squishies with strong protection. Research can be used to further protect her allies while casting, or to permit her to cast her other spells while channeling it.

#Passive ##Call of Progress

Rhona's presence will cause the bodies of nearby enemies to linger for up to 10 seconds. Rhona can right-click these to dispatch a Research Bot to study the enemy for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds, the Research Bot will return to Rhona, granting her Research. Rhona can spend Research at the shop to upgrade her abilities. Rhona may have a maximum of 2 Research Bots out at a time. If it is killed, Rhona requires 20/15/10 seconds to recreate one.

Research Gained:

Minions/Small Monsters: 5 Large Monsters/Minions/Scuttle Crab/Champions/Dragon/Baron/Rift Herald: 25

Rhona's upgrades for her basic abilities each consist of 2 tiers. Rhona must research all the Basic upgrades for each ability to unlock Advanced upgrades. Upgrades, once applied, cannot be changed.

Rhona can only acquire an Advanced Tier technology every time she ranks up her ultimate.

Research Cost per upgrade: 150 Research

Rhona's ultimate can only be upgraded once, and costs 150 Research to do so. This is not an Advanced Tier research.

#Extended Lore

The rain poured from the sky as flashes of lightning cast shadows against the dark and lonely streets below. One of these caught the figure of a young woman, a scientist'scoat beneath her heavy hooded cloak, her footsteps splashing against the puddles which had gathered upon the cobbled stone. She stopped briefly, her arm raised to shield her face from the rain, taking in her directions. It was unwise to lose one's way in the backalleys of Zaun, moreso in darkness, and above all in distasteful weather such as this. She'd already had to draw the knife hidden in the cloak thrice. The first two whom she had encountered had backed off, searching for easier prey. The third had not been as intelligent, or, was otherwise foolhardy. He had taken a knife in the gut, falling into a pool of his own blood as Rhona had continued running. She looked around her, stopping but twice to turn her head away from the lightning which cast blinding streaks through the night sky. Against the darkened sky, it cast the shadow of a dark spire. Resolutely, she pressed on, her cloak tucked closely against her body as she ran down the rain-soaked streets.

Rhona ran on, looking to both sides, before finally stopping in front a set of iron gates, the curved spikes upon the bars even more menacing against the shadowed sky. Patting down her pockets rapidly, she drew a set of keys from them, jamming them in the lock, before turning and with unfound strength, shoving the gates aside, snapping off the key in the process. Moving once more with haste, she hurried to the large wooden door, yet, Rhona could not recall the correct key to use. Tossing them aside, she drew her knife, jamming it into the lock, and twisting with a strained motion, hearing the delicate inner mechanisms bend and snap underneath the sharp blade. The time for subltety was past. Sparing not the time to remove her hooded cloak, she slipped inside.

She continued her rushed movement as she ran past desks stacked with stray pieces of paper, potions in odd flasks, her cloak billowing behind her as she ignored them. She was here for something far more important. Recognising the doorway ahead, she slowed her pace, opting instead for a stealthy approach, opening the heavy door by a crack, before stealthily sliding through it. The door shut with a resounding boom, and Rhona looked around briefly, before letting her hood slide down to her shoulders. After a moment of brief consideration, she moved to the center of the chamber, In the middle lay a suspension chamber wrapped in glass, containing a floating ring surrounding an orb of pure energy. It had been the culmination of years of tiring, strenuous work.

Rhona moved to a console at the far side of the room, before rapidly tapping across it, the flourescent-green glow of the screen illuminating the otherwise dark room. Slowly, the zone at the centre of the laboratory lost its luminescent glow, the sphere contained within hovering ever closer to the ground. Seeing it's field deactivated, she rushed to its side, opening the de-energised sphere to retrieve the device within. In the process, she hadn't noticed several dark forms take position on the balcony above. A flash of lightning finally revealed the shadowed forms that had shuffled into the room. Rhona looked up with a gasp.

“Rhona”, shouted Doctor Zeryva, “How unfortunate it had to be you”. Rhona froze, quickly attempting to think her way out of this. Doctor Zeryva continued. “I'd always had a feeling that someone would steal my Field Projector. I could never risk another incident.” Realising that she had nothing on hand, Rhona looked down at the Field Projector she now held. No, she thought, it was impossible. I couldnt. Doctor Zeryva continued his tirade. “Did you Doctor really think I would leave such a device undefended? With that monstrosity Viktor at my heels and Noxus offering...such... prices for military technology? Your naivete is admirable, if unfortunate. However, if you do surrender, Rhona, I'll consider being more lenient. I'll consider taking trading you to Mundo off the table. You must realise that it is your only option.”

Rhona considered his offer, the room suddenly silent except for the crackle of thunder and the whirring of the automatons. Doctor Zeryva began to grow impatient. “Well? I'd rather not ruin several perfectly fine automatons for an equation in which all the constants are in place.”

“No”, came her reply, in a soft, cool voice, almost drowned out by the cacophany of thunder in the background.

“What was that?” shouted Doctor Zeryva from the balcony. “Speak up, woman. I can barely hear you.”

“No”. Her reply was staunch, hard, as bolts of light crackled and fizzed off the rod above, bathing the interior of the laboratory in harsh flashes. Slipping the Field Projector into a brass casing she had mounted on her arm while speaking, it began to fizzle and crack as she moved it in a broad sweeping motion, causing an automaton to fly over the balcony, before bringing her arm down, the automaton crunching to the floor in a mess of sparks and ruined circuitry.

Doctor Zeryva's fury was barely contained. “You...you...how dare...you..” He paused for a moment to regain his composure before announcing in a shrill voice. “Automatons. SEIZE HER. Do not damage the Field Projector.” He turned to leave, yet paused, choosing instead to witness the marvel he had created.

One by one, the automatons surrounded her, their arm cannons at the ready. Rhona, aware of the danger raised a hand in a preventive motion. Smoke fillled the air as the cannons fired shot after shot into the space she occupied. Yet, as it cleared she was unharmed, locked in a forcefield of her own, stopping the blasts in mid-air. Unleashing the field in a vast shockwave, dazing the automatons, Rhona began to run back the way she came, into a narrow corridor which could only fit one person. She had scarcely reached the door before the automatons were upon her, their metal shoulders cuttting and screeching into the walls, barely able to fit between them. Rhona paused briefly for thought, searching for a way to out-run, or even out-wit, the pursuing machines. There could be – no, it was too farfetched, but a chance – perhaps her only one.

Standing at the end she forced a bubble through the narrow corridor she had just run through, leaving the automatons no way to dodge . Ensnaring them, the bubble had left them floating in mid-air, revealing their power source. Doctor Zeryva had never been concerned with quality, only that they function as workers, slaves to his mad ideals. Rhona would turn those concerns against him. With a shoving motion, she forced the crippled automaton into its peers, the crash of metal on metal filling the narrow chamber. With a one final downward motion she brought down the ceiling upon the crippled one and it's exposed core. Rhona drew her arm in front of her in a preventive action as the ceiling crumbled around her....

Doctor Zeryva looked upon the carnage that had gone down below. Unfortunate, truly, he thought. Rhona had been an useful, if – otherwise morally bound acolyte, ready and able to deliver what he wanted. It would be difficult to replace her. And what were the costs of a few automatons to the power of the Gravitic Actuator? He consoled himself into that belief. Yet, despite that, he was unsure. All of the components had fit into the equation, but the outcome? Unclear. It made him uncomfortable. It tore at him, almost as if there was a dark form behind him...

Doctor Zeryva whirled but it was too late. Rhona stood behind him, scratched, wounded, and bruised, but otherwise unharmed. She picked him up and threw him to the edge of the balcony, the slight cracking of his bones against the floor veiled by the crackle of thunder from above. She seemed to be angered, yet calm, in a sort of tranquil fury. “Amusing, isn't it?”, she quipped, “how the created will always rebel the creator, And yet...without your creations, you are as defenceless as any other.”

With her harnessed arm, she made the symbol of a crushing fist...and he fell...into the darkness below...

Rhona looked down on the collasped balcony, which had taken Doctor Zeryva onto the floor of the destroyed laboratory. A pained groan punctuated by ragged breaths informed her that he lived. It was to be a suitable mercy, to be surrounded by one's creations, yet possessing not the power to save himself. As she once more donned her cloak, she turned onto the streets of Zaun, a little brighter, as the sun began to rise upon the new day.

#Playstyle

Early Game

Rhona should aim to collect as much Research as possible, while using her D-314 Defender Bots to punish enemies who try to destroy them. In the mid lane, Rhona should use her bots to zone out the enemy, while also maintaining vision in the bushes in order to warn her of enemy ambushes. Prismatic Beam can be used to poke at enemies, while also working very well to help in a jungle gank. If played in a support role, Rhona also works well due to her non-gold scaling. Creating no-go zones in strategic areas such as bushes as well as shielding her allies from the back line with Shield Battery is key during this time in order to succeed.

##Mid Game

At this point, Rhona should have several of her upgrades. Prior to teamfights, Rhona should set up D-314 Defender Bots in key chokepoints in order to limit enemy approach opportunities. When teamfights do begin, working as a back line defensive character is important. Don't forget to drop a Shield Battery prior to activating Defensive Matrix is essential to keeping your team healthy. If the situation favors the offensive, Rhona should attempt to use her Prismatic Beam in order to pick off key targets within the enemy, either while retreating, or when attacking. Another feasible strategy is the ability to bait the enemy into a position where D-314 Defender Bots have been set up, allowing you to easily melt away their resistance.

##Late Game

Rhona's playstyle in the lategame depends strongly on the upgrades she has picked throughout the course of the game, though she should largely remain in the backline. Prismatic Beam can be used either pick enemies off, cripple them so they can be picked apart by Rhona's team or as a DPS tool to take down enemies. D-314 Defender Bots should be used either to surpise burst enemies who are in key, or often walked paths and location with Sentry Cloaking, or to methodically push lanes in conjunction with **Networked Targeting ** through the use of leapfrogging. Regardless, proper use of Defensive Matrix is one of the most important and game-changing tools in the game, as it allows the negation of enemy burst/assassins. Being able to get off a full channel of Defensive Matrix will almost guarentee the ability to win a teamfight.

#Allies&Foes

** Rhona synergises with**

KogMaw Morgana Heimerdinger

Rhona works well with the Maw of the Void, as her defensive capability, both in lane (if played as support) and in teamfights allow Kog'Maw to deal as much damage as he needs to, while utilising her shields and barriers in order to limit the enemies who can jump on to him and burst him down. Furthermore, Rhona's zoning capability make it easier to funnel enemies into specific paths, at which point Kog'Maw can melt them with his DPS.

The Fallen Angle synergises well with Rhona, as a well landed Dark Binding allows her to unleash the power of her Defender Bots on the hapless enemy, while Shield Battery and Defensive Matrix can help Morgana to survive a trip into the enemy team. Additionally, Black Shield helps to negate the main obstacle to a full channel of Defensive Matrix – CC, greatly diminishing the chances of the enemy to win the fight.

Heimerdinger can combo well with Rhona in order to form a formidable battle line which can push back enemies, as his turrets can help to cover blind spots which her own turrets can miss. Together, they are capable of demolishing entire minion waves in mere seconds, allowing them to effectively siege enemies who had previously thought themselves safe from the march of technology. Rhona can also catch out enemies with her Prismatic Beam, making stunning enemies with Heimerdinger's own stun grenade much easier.

##Rhona struggles against

Blitzcrank Malzahar Cassiopeia

The Steam Golem is a formidable adversary for Rhona. His Rocket Grab is able to displace allies within Shield Battery and Defensive Matrix, removing them from her zone of safety. Furthermore, Blitzcrank's plethora of CC make it very difficult for Rhona to effectively get off a much needed Defensive Matrix, which is exemplified by it's punishingly long cooldown. Though Rhona is good at zoning out enemy supports, the magnitude of his displacement is enough to throw a wrench in her plans.

The Prophet of the Void can be a difficult opponent for Rhona to face. His multiple DoTs are able to slip through Defensive Matrix, taking down an ally which Rhona would otherwise have been able to save. Furthermore, the ability for Malefic Visions to jump from unit to unit means that he is able to easily take down Defender Bots at no risk to himself. Moreover, both Call of the Void and Nether Grasp are highly effective at shutting down Rhona due to her lack of defense against both, and are good at both denying her team a safe zone within her Shield Battery, while also being capable of deactivating her Defensive Matrix.

The Serpent's Embrace poses a dangerous threat to Rhona, as she is able to counter her zoning with some of her own. Her multiple DoTs and Twin Fang spam can easily overwhelm the periodic shielding granted by Shield Battery, while also greatly diminishing the value of Defensive Matrix, if Petrifying Gaze does not shut it down altogether. Using DoTs to pick at the health of Defender Bots, while also possessing mana and health sustain allows her to force Rhona into a battle of attrition, limiting her ability to assist in other parts of the map.

Hey man! Sorry it took so long to get too. Due to comment character limits I'm going to have to split this review into to 2 halves. Just like last time, remember this is just my personal opinion, and whatever you do with it is up to you.

{quoted} #Passive ##Call of Progress Rhona's presence will cause the bodies of nearby enemies to linger for up to 10 seconds. Rhona can right-click these to dispatch a Research Bot to study the enemy for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds, the Research Bot will return to Rhona, granting her Research. Research Gained: Minions/Small Monsters: 5 Large Monsters/Minions/Scuttle Crab/Champions/Dragon/Baron/Rift Herald: 25 Rhona's upgrades for her basic abilities each consist of 2 tiers. Rhona can only acquire an Advanced Tier technology every time she ranks up her ultimate. Research Cost per upgrade: 150 Research Rhona's ultimate can only be upgraded once, and costs 150 Research to do so. This is not an Advanced Tier research.

Hmm. For something that seems complicated, its actually a pretty simple minigame. Sounds like it could be fun. I would vary the scores a little more. My thinking is minions should be lowered to 3, given the ease you will be able to research them, Jungle camps about 5, with Red, Blue and Scuttle being 10, dragon and rift herald at about 15-20, and baron at 25. You should consider the easy at which you can research these. Remember that everything other than minions has a respawn timer, so they already have reduced spam. Also consider the strength of the thing you are researching. Why is something as easy to get as scuttle worth the same amount as dragon or baron? Dragon and Baron take team effort to kill in the first place. But still, sounds like fun! How much are the health's of the Research bots?

#Q ##Prismatic Beam Fires a brilliant wave of light in a line, dealing 60/100/140/180/220 (+0.6 AP) magic damage to the first target hit and slowing them by 40/50/60/70/80% for 2 seconds. Basic Upgrades Diffracted Pulse

  • Prismatic Beam bounces to a maximum of 4 other enemies, applying the damage and slow at 25% strength. AND Brilliant Burst
  • Prismatic Beam also applies a debuff causing Rhona's next autoattack or ability to consume the mark, stunning them for 1 second. Subsequent stuns for 8 seconds after the initial ones will only last 0.5 seconds.

How does this target? Its base says it targets in a straight line, so I assume its a skill shot, but then what causes the bounce? Can it go through multiple enemies? Brilliant Burst seem like it could be a bit rough, especially considering that Diffracted Pulse beam cause it to bounce between 4 other enemies. In a team fight, it's like applying a stronger Braum passive. Granted, you do have to do quite a bit of effort to get this, this can get strong mid to late game.

Advanced Upgrades Create Weakness

  • Hits by Prismatic Beam will increase damage dealt to targets by 5% for 5 seconds. (stacks up to 3 times) Additionally, the initial hit of Prismatic Beam will remove all non-shield defensive buffs from the target. Note:
  • Defensive buffs are buffs which grant effects such as damage resistance, armor and magic resistance, but also include auras, healing, lifesteal, resistance to CC, and stealth.
  • This extends to item actives, but will not affect stats passively given by items.
  • Shields are not affected by Create Weakness.
  • Create Weakness will not affect the application or reapplication of new defensive buffs. OR Controlled Dissipation
  • Each time Prismatic Beam hits an enemy, Rhona's basic ability cooldowns are lowered by 0.5 seconds. This is doubled if it hits OR Crystallised Energy
  • Prismatic Beam also deals it's damage in a 250 radius around the initial target. Range: 1000 Width: 100 Projectile Speed: 1500 Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 Mana: 50/55/60/65/70

This is starting to get a little messy unfortunately. I understand that you need to pick the first 2 before you can pick one of these, but you’re offering too wide a range of variance. You have 4 effects on the one ability. Think about it:

Fires a brilliant wave of light in a line, dealing 60/100/140/180/220 (+0.6 AP) magic damage to the first target hit and slowing them by 40/50/60/70/80% for 2 seconds. AND bounces to a maximum of 4 other enemies, applying the damage and slow at 25% strength. AND also applies a debuff causing Rhona's next autoattack or ability to consume the mark, stunning them for 1 second. Subsequent stuns for 8 seconds after the initial ones will only last 0.5 seconds. AND Hits by Prismatic Beam will increase damage dealt to targets by 5% for 5 seconds. (stacks up to 3 times) Additionally, the initial hit of Prismatic Beam will remove all non-shield defensive buffs from the target.

See how much that's doing? That's way too overloaded, even late game, from a Q. Create Weakness is incredibly strong. While an interesting idea, by removing ‘defensive buffs’ you remove a few champions ults eg Mundo and Olaf. Controlled Dissipation is fine. Crystallised Energy is really strong in the right encounter. There a lot of potential overlap with an effect like this.

#W ##Shield Battery Deploys a Shield Battery at target location for 8 seconds, shielding nearby allies for 20/40/60/80/100 (+0.125 AP) per second. A unit may not be shielded by a single Shield Battery for more than 80/160/240/320/400 (+0.5 AP) health at once. Shields last for 5 seconds after the last application. Basic Upgrades Expanded Field

  • Increase radius of Shield Battery by 25% AND Increased Metabolism
  • Shielded units gain 10% MS.

This ability is actually pretty nice. Just to clarify, is the shield duration constantly refreshed if they are in the initial area? The upgrades are relatively simple as well.

Advanced Upgrades Resistive Barrier

  • Allied units inside the Shield Battery gain 15% damage resistance. OR Axiom Motivator
  • Units affected by Shield Battery will deal 7.5% of the shields maximum value as bonus magic damage whenever they deal damage. (Max 1 proc per second) OR Regenerative Nanobots
  • If the shields from Shield Battery expires, units affected are healed for 25 (+0.05 AP)% of the shield value. Range: 800 Radius: 400 Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Mana: 60/70/80/90/100 Health: 100 (+20*Rhona's level) (+ 0.5 AP)

Whereas the Q was overloaded with effects, this actually isn’t too bad when fully upgraded. Given that the basic upgrades provide just that (ie stat upgrades), it makes the Advanced upgrade a lot simpler to follow. The advancements themselves are also relatively straightforward. I like this a lot more than the Prismatic Beam. My only suggestion would be that given this is meant to be a defensive ability that, maybe Axiom Motivator shouldn’t increase damage but instead provide another method of defence. It’s fine as it is and not big issue, just a passing comment really.

#E ##D-314 Defender Bot Summons a D-314 Defender Bot above her to attack targets in a fixed radius away from her. These attack deal 20/40/60/80/100 (+0.25 AP) magic damage, and apply spell effects. Rhona may also right-click them to dismantle them, refunding half of their mana cost and cooldown. D-314 Defender Bots last 3 minutes, and will regen 1 health per second after not being damaged for 8 seconds. Rhona may have a maximum of 12 on the field at once. Basic Upgrades Advanced Materials

  • D-314 Defender Bots last 50% longer, have 3 more health, and dismantling them refunds 100% of the mana cost and cooldown instead. AND Improved Optics
  • Increase the radius of the specified targeting zones by 33% and gain 50% increased attack speed

Mmmm. So kind of like a mix between Teemo Shrooms and Heim Turrets? Could be cool, but could also be extremely potent. Looking at those 2 Basic Upgrades though, it looks like it’s the latter at the moment. Think about it like this: A Teemo shroom, while easily spamable around a jungle, provide almost no vision unless the person triggers them, so someone can literally run right past and Teemo would never know. These would provide crazy levels of vision if put in the right places. Look at where bushes are in the jungle. If you placed one in all of the bushes in your jungle, any enemy walking past would trigger it to go off and start attacking, revealing them. Sure they have the potential to kill/clear, but late game it’s easy to replace these. You can easily balance this though by reducing how many you can have out at once.

Advanced Upgrades Sentry Cloaking

  • After 4 seconds of not firing, D-314 Defender Bots will cloak themselves, rendering both them and their specified targeting area invisible. After emerging from stealth, they will possess 25% attack speed and extra damage for 5 seconds. Notes:
  • The damage buff will also apply to the first attack fired from stealth** OR Networked Targeting
  • D-314 Defender Bots can fire into each other's specified targeting areas (Max 1000 range) Notes:
  • A maximum of 4 D-314 Defender Bots can fire into a single specified targeting zone at once. OR Heat Dispersion Systems
  • D-314 Defender Bots deal 33% damage in the full targeting radius to units other than the primary target whenever they fire. Range: 800 Targeting Circle Radius: 300 Max Charges held: 3 Charge Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12 Mana: 50 Health: 5 AS: 0.67 Notes:
  • There is an 0.5 second delay between the Defender Bot being set up and the first shot fired.
  • D-314 Defender bots take damage according to the following criterion
  • Champion autoattacks will deal 2 damage
  • Champion spells will deal 3 damage
  • Each tick of a DoT spell will deal 1 damage.
  • Minions and monsters will deal 1 damage per attack.

A little confused about Sentry Cloaking, specifically the “rendering both them and their specified targeting area invisible. Is their target area revealed if you don’t have this ability? What happens if you put them in a bush? Networked Targeting is a little confusing as well. “Can fire into each other's specified targeting areas (Max 1000 range)” Can I not put 2 of these next to each other? And does that 1000 including their own 500? Heat Dispersion Systems is actually pretty cool, and I like this as a variation to what Hiems turrets have. I also like that the damage doesn’t stack on the person being targetted.

#R ##Defensive Matrix Rhona channels her Defensive Matrix for 4/5/6 seconds, causing individual instances of damage to nearby allies to not exceed 10% (-0.5% per 100 AP) of their maximum health. While she is channeling, Rhona incurs a 25% movement speed penalty. Upgrades Deflector Shield

  • 33% of the damage dealt in excess of Defensive Matrix's limit is reflected to the dealer. OR Hextech Capacitor
  • Rhona is able to cast her other abilities while channeling Defensive Matrix. Radius: 500 Cooldown: 150/135/120 Mana: 100 Notes:
  • Casting or utilising mobility (ie. Flash, Dark Passage, or Fate's Call) will not interrupt Defensive Matrix.

This ability is interesting, but needs work. While really hard to assess without actual testing, the 10% of their max health seems a bit steep, unless it was attached to abilities. Basic attacks will easily deal under 10% max health max damage, so enemy ADC’s and attack speed champs like Jax and Udyr will be largely unaffected by this ult. Perhaps basic attacks could have something like 5% max health? Deflector Shield is interesting. What kind of damage does it deal back? Hextech Capacity she couldn't before?? When was that mentioned?

Over all, again there are some nice ideas here, but the kit seems..confused in a way. The basic's should be increasing stats only. The Advanced abilities should be the ones providing extra effects, much like Kha’s or Viktor’s. Too much variety makes it difficult to keep track of. The kit doesn't exactly mesh either. Individually they are all ok for their intended purpose, but together they don't really seem like that would be that strong a combo. Still, once again I really like that passive, and that alone can be turned into a very strong character. Thanks again for my review and sorry I took so long to reply to yours.

VERY COOL idea! I absolutely love the passive and the other abilities are cool too. Only a few balance problems (400 AOE shield?, also exceeding 10%? what about an lb on an adc? let's say she's a bit fed and can one shot them (dealing 110% of their hp) the guy only recieves dmg of 11% hp but the lb (let's say she has the same health) recieves 99% of her hp as dmg so she instakills herself) but very good overall.

Long read, but I love the idea. The evolving weapons are nice, it kind of reminds me of Syndra's passive, where her attacks get stronger when leveling them up, but using bots.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Hello Vorazun, I like the overall concept of your character. I uploaded a champion concept of my own, but am having difficulties adding images to the post. How did you go about adding the images on your post? I'd be most grateful for any assistance. Thanks, and nice job on Rhona.

Passive: Isnt that basicly useless bot? i doubt the enemy adc will not destroy the research bot immediatly.

Q: Cooldown is kinda low and damage kinda high at max rank. Combined with the upgrades i think its far too strong. Also the 5 second debuffs are complettly useless on any playstyle that doesnt use cdr and there shouldnt be a stack/mark mechanic on a champ that cant be used without items or runes. Controlled Dissipation: If it hits what? i assume champions. Doesnt make it any more balanced if you heavily slow for 2 seconds and your q is on a ~2s cooldown then.

W: The total shield value could get out of hand fast. probably 1000 shield with 2 would make for some fine fighting power while defending and makes it probably impossible for enemies that arent ahead a ton to take any defended turrets or inhibs Axiom Motivator: Does it scale with the maximum per 1 shield or the current amount of your shield (which would be the current maximum) if it scales with the current shield its pretty op otherwise ok. Regenerative Nanobots: In what time interval? because since the shield can stack up the heal should be scaling somewhat too.

E: Attack speed? could be horrible op or absolutly underpowered without the AS value. Other than that and some concerns with the advanced upgrades i really like this ability! probably my favourite ability. Networked Targeting: Depending on AS could be op. with rylais, 1 AS, 500 AP, you could place 3 inside your base safely, then if a squishy aproaches place the last one on him, dealing 4x100(+125) = 900 damage instantly and before the enemy manages to leave the zone due to slow probably at least once or even twice again. With 3 attacks total it would deal 2700 damage.

R: Pretty ncie against assassins, but with the upgrade that you can still do stuff its probably too strong due to her other abilities. On its own its a good ability.

Hi! ^_^ Sorry for the delay just finished my first final so I have a bit of time, been a bit busy and lazy but anyway here's my review of Rhona, The Hextech Ingenue!

Lore: Pretty well written as usual, I don't have a lot of time so I can't go into this into much detail and I think it's good enough for the CCOS. Sorry:/

Passive: I really do like the idea of researching fallen enemies to gain upgrades but it's a complicated system that is fairly difficult to judge the impact of it due to how many upgrades there are and how many paths you can go. An at some point it's a little silly how overloaded her kit can potentially get

However I do agree with lonely flame on adjusting the research levels, shouldn't the player be rewarded more so for researching a dragon than a cannon minion or a scuttlecrab? it would make researching more exciting and break up the monotony of slowly building up research by constantly researching minions. I get it you don't want to make it too snowbally but that's honestly the point of contesting these objectives to get a lead and I would say just make it a moderate research something worth aiming for but too massive.

Just something I was thinking maybe make the upgrades interchangeable? Like let her swap upgrades? Just a thought.

Q: Fairly simple skill, there's really not much to say about this..........

W: While I did find this an interesting defensive tool I want to suggest making it so that moving out of the Ws range removes the shield instantly or at least cutting out the duration of the shield when out of the Ws range and buffing the shield strength. This way you're encouraged to stay within the W and rewarded for doing so instead of getting a small shield and running out with it. Just a personal opinion disregard it if you want.

E: Not really a big fan of this ability mainly becasue i think it crawls into Heimer's niche and Heimer's turrets and similar mechanics tend to be fairly problematic balance wise.

Here's a vid explaining Heimer's problems or problem with turrets anyway(did I show you this before? i think I did?) Maybe Rhona doesn't suffer from this issue but I think it's important to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjE4gjK9NEE

I get it they don't shoot in 360 like Heimer but it fills the same role as Heimer's turrets and honestly when you have 12 of them the only target in a certain area is kind of moot since you have so many. And the shared targeting kind of renders this moot......And they can stealth.....

R: While not a bad skill and it's fairly interesting I don't like how it fits with the rest of the kit.

It also strikes me as one of those skills that you might have hard time feeling you're doing something. Take a look at Maoki and Vladmir's ults, technically Maoki is insanely powerful a 20% damage reduction is no joke and Vald's ult 13% increased damage from all sources including itself is theoretically very strong. but I'm just saying have you ever noticed these effects when you play or play against these champions? i feel the Rhona's R is very similar, outside of powerful bursts the ult just doesn't strike me as something that is particularly visible and feels powerful to use.

I also don't feel it just feels good with her kit, it's kind of hard to explain this feeling but I don't really think it says "hextech creator" maybe it says "protector" but that's a little bit of a stretch as it kind of dampens damage rather than mitigates it. This might be personal bias speaking but I don't think it truly fits an "inventor" based champion that well and I don't think it has enough feeling of "impact" but agin personal opinions.

I'm sorry I can't go into more details, I'm stuck in the middle of finals right now:/ If you have anything you want me to explain more PM me about it.

Reyndria4/14/2016, 4:52:57 AM1 votes

I like the evolving weapons, because only Viktor and Kha'Zix have evolving things, but I feel like you're putting too much into the abilities as a whole. Adaptation is great, but you should go for trying to combine your tier upgrades and balance them, because you're making them EXTREMELY overcomplicated, which is unhealthy both for anyone trying to make this coding, and anyone trying to play Rhona and taking 25 minutes to read what their research will do.

The research mechanic is unique, new, and pretty awesome, but branching all of your ability upgrades into all those different paths is difficult on many levels. As far as your actual champion goes, She seems a lot more like a counter-assassin than a mage. That's cool for messing with an assassin meta, but balance is key: making someone legit 1 shot themself may be a bit too far. reflecting damage should feel rewarding, but not broken. Getting your combo thrown back at you should make you feel intimidated, but not hopeless. The ult, in short, needs some scaling work done, and the W bots made to be relatively fragile, to open some counterplay.

Lastly, your early game with this champion appears rather weak overall compared to other mages, which is fine, because the utility you provide mid to late is going to be very hard to cope with. Honestly, I would likely play Rhona as a support, because the utility is strong with this one.

Speaking of supports, check out my Ohminn concept, if you feel like it. He's another one that may start getting tricky to balance, so I've left all the scalings vague to see what other people think.
