1. Inspiration I recently did a champion concept where I explored a new type of Shadow Isles character: someone whose goal was to restore the Shadow Isles to their former glory and to end the madness unleashed by the Ruined King. This got me thinking about how sort of one dimensional undeads and spirits are in LoL's current lore. Basically, they're all just evil and that's it. I started thinking about new kinds of undeads or spirits. Not good ones, like my last champion concept, but not evil either. Neutral beings, just living their lives, chilling. They would be part of a natural order, existing in a place where pretty much nothing else does. The perfect setting for such an idea would be the Voodoo Lands, the place where Annie comes from. I didn't really want to make another pseudo-undead champion, however, so I went for someone who could speak with them, be the voice of the dead, if you will. And of course, this all got me thinking about how these natural ghosts would feel about the abominations pouring out of the Shadow Isles. Are they allies? Enemies? Do they even care about one another? The way I see it, the creatures of the Shadow Isles are determined to spread their curse, to devour and torment everything, so these neutral spirits and their friend would be forced to fight them, eventually. Can they stand alone? Maybe, maybe not... So this thought process is what lead to the creation of Aneiroi, a recluse, a woman who cares more about the dead than she does the living, but who will eventually be forced to fight to protect herself and her friends. She is a dreamer, someone who sees beyond our world and into the next.

2. Role and Gameplay Primary Role : Mage Secondary Role : Support

Aneiroi is a high damage, high utility champion who can be played either has a mid lanner or a support. She has a some unique utility and every single one of her abilities interacts with vision in one way or another. However, her damage is not bursy, on the contrary it's spread over a few seconds to gate her power. Whether she is played mid or bot, her biggest strength relies on disrupting her opponents and ensuring their eventual demise.

3. Appearance and Personality

Aneiroi is a black woman in her early 30s. She wears clothes of dark fur, a horned mask made out of animal bones and has a long cloak. Her most distinctive feature is the large torch she carries in her right hand. The flame burns brightly with a green, sickly light. Aneiroi moves with graces, as she is accustomed to wade trough treacherous terrain. She walks a bit hunched, as if hunting a prey. Her attack animation would have her swinging her torch and sending out a small bolt of flame. Aneiroi speaks with confidence and has an air of mystery about her. She knows she is never alone, even though her enemies are not aware of that fact, and acts accordingly.

4. Lore

Aneiroi's lore is written from other characters' standpoint because I want her true motives to remain up to speculation. She is supposed to be a mysterious character, who is only truly understood by the spirits she loves and protects, spirits only she can truly discuss with. What does she really want? That's up to you to decide ;P

“I want more tea!” Riona sighed. The child was in one of her moods again and she would not listen to reason. Which, unfortunately, meant that Riona had to comply to her every demand. How is one supposed to care for a child one cannot control? She wondered, not for the first time. “Of course, my dear. Now you just stay here and play with Tibbers while I go fetch some more tea. Oh and please try not to set anything on fire?” “But it’s fun!” replied Annie with a giggle. Riona merely nodded, then went back inside the house. She quickly prepared the tea, peeking out of the window once in a while to watch her ward. After a while, she reassured herself. The child was indeed immensely talented in the arcane arts, but her parents had recently devised new spells to keep her bound to the premises of the house. She would not be setting ablaze the petrified woods anytime soon. The kettle whistled, indicating the tea was ready. Riona grabbed the recipient and made her way outside. The yard was empty, save for a small table with three chairs and three cups. Riona made her way towards the edge of the yard, then stopped. She could feel the magical barrier her employers had erected. More importantly, however, she could feel where the spell had been torn apart with blunt, awesome force. Riona groaned in annoyance. “The Hasturs are not going to be pleased,” she lamented out loud.

Annie followed the strange visage around. It seemed to ignore her and her fireballs, which was quite annoying. Annie was intent on finding out who or what this pale, hovering face was. The creature spun between the trees, sometimes stopping for a few seconds and opening its mouth, as if it were speaking, but it produced no sound. Soon, the ground became uneven and wet as the thing made its way into one of the numerous bogs that dotted the Voodoo Lands. Annie frowned; she did not want to ruin her new dress. She launched Tibbers in the air, revealing his true form. “Come on Tibbers, be a gentlemen and carry me!” she commanded. As always, her friend obeyed without a sign of protest. She settled in her fury guardian’s arms, still following the creature with her eyes. After a long trek, Annie noticed an eerie light in the distance. It was dull and green, but unlike a flame, it never flickered. The face suddenly accelerated its pace and quickly flew towards the light, disappearing between the gnarled branches of the petrified trees. “What have we here?” a woman’s voice echoed in the swamps. “A visitor… and her very special friend. Come, my child. I have been waiting a long time to meet you.” Tibbers moved forward. As they approached the light, Annie started making out the silhouette of a cloaked woman. The stranger was carrying a torch: it was the source of the light. “Who are you? Why are you all alone here?” Annie asked as she climbed out of Tibbers arms. “A friend,” the woman replied as she removed her cowl, revealing the face of a young adult. Annie thought she must have been a bit younger than her parents. “And I am never alone. Do you like making friends, child?” Annie pondered the question for a moment. Her only real friend was Tibbers. All the others were boring scaredy cats. “It depends on the friend,” she finally answered. The woman laughed. “A very clever answer, my dear. I am Aneiroi, the Spirit Speaker. You?” “I’m Annie.” The woman lowered herself to Annie’s level and looked her in the eyes. “Happy to finally meet you, Annie.” A small green flame winked into existence near them and started dancing in erratic patterns. Annie stopped paying attention to the woman and watched the flame bounce around. “What is it?” she asked in a hushed tone, afraid she would scare it. “One of my friends. I have many, many friends.” “Like the thing I followed here?” “Yes. Would you like to meet some more of my friends?” Annie nodded, still absorbed by the small wisp’s dance. Suddenly, several more small flames appeared around them, dancing in a chaotic fashion. Ghostly faces like the one she had followed smiled at Annie from afar. Annie giggled in excitement. Then, one by one, Aneiroi’s friends vanished. “Where did they go?” “Back to their realm, child. This is no place for them. I see them still. They are all around us even now. They came because I asked them to, because I wanted to show you what could be yours. You have a special connection to this land, my dear. Its power flows through you.” She glanced at Tibbers. “Its denizens bow before you without effort. Those who live here, those who truly belong here could be your family. Forever.” “You mean they could all be my friends too?” “Yes, child. You could join us. But not now. No, the time is not right. You must grow up first, develop your powers. But you can still visit from time to time, if you wish…” “Yes! I would love to.” “Good… There is much for you to learn about this place and about our friends, the spirits of the Voodoo Lands. There is a shadow coming… A dangerous mist and I alone cannot stand before it. But these are tales for another day. Now, go, child. I believe your caregiver is looking for you.” “Riona? She’s boring!” “That may be, but no one must know you were here. Go. Go! I will send for you once the time is right.” Aneiroi once again lowered herself to Annie’s level and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Annie giggled, then ordered Tibbers to pick her up. A small wisp floated towards her, then flew forward. “Follow the light, child. Until next time!”

Riona looked at the hour on the cloak. The Hasturs would soon be home… She had spent hours looking through the woods for the child, but she could find no tracks. If Annie had learned to make her prints disappears, she would become even more of a nightmare to deal with. She heard a sound. The heavy thumping of a large creature’s determined stride. Tibbers. Oh, thank the stars! Riona rushed outside. The gigantic flaming bear was carrying Annie in its arms. “Riona! I made a new friend today!” Riona immediately tensed. If Annie had brought back another toy with her, it would be impossible to hide her excursion. “She was really nice! Her name is Aneiroi.” Riona relaxed, then let out a small laugh. Silly legends. Some of the colonists had spread rumors of a witch in the swamps over the years. A witch who would abduct young sorceresses and steal their youth and power to sustain her own, forever binding them to the Voodoo Lands. Riona herself had had a run-in with the so-called witch when her friends had decided to prank her on the night of the Harrowing. The child must have heard the rumors and decided to hunt for the mysterious enchantress. “Now, now Annie, those are just stories. There is no such thing as a woman living out there in the swamps.” “But I saw here!” “I’m sure you did. Now come inside, we have to get you cleaned up before your parents come back. And not a word of this to anyone!” Annie nodded, a mischievous smile on her lips.

5. Base Stats

Health: 527-1834 Health Regen: 6.5-17.5 Mana: 334-1184 Mana Regen: 6.0-19.6 Range: 550 (ranged) Attack Damage: 51-100 Attack Speed: 0.625 (0%-36.5%) Armor: 21-83 Magic Resistance: 30 Movement Speed: 340

6. Abilities

The text below each description is just more info about the skill.

Passive - Spirit World's Touch

Every 15/12/9 seconds, Aneiroi’s next basic attack will gain bonus range, deal damage in an area of effect (400) and apply the Spirit World’s Touch debuff to all enemies hit. Enemies affected by Spirit World’s Touch will take magic damage per second for 4 seconds and be revealed.

When this ability is up, the fire of Aneiroi's torch turns purple and her next basic attack shoots a large purple sphere of flame that explodes on contact with the enemy hit. All enemies within 200 range of the target are affected by the damage over time effect, which looks like purple flames burning them. The cooldown of this ability changes at levels 6 and 11.

Level 1-5 Bonus range: 100 Damage per second: 8/10/12/14/16 (+10% AP)

Level 6-10 Bonus range: 150 Damage per second: 20/23/26/29/32 (+10% AP)

Level 11-15 Bonus range: 200 Damage per second: 36/40/44/48/52 (+10% AP)

Level 16-18 Bonus range: 250 Damage per second: 58/64/70 (+10% AP)

Q - Disembodied Herald

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds Range: 2000 Area of Effect: 350 Vision Range: 275 Missile Speed: 1400 Aneiroi releases a spirit from her torch. The spirit will wander towards the target direction, providing vision around itself, before roaming back towards Aneiroi. Aneiroi can reactivate this ability to make the spirit emit a scream, dealing 70/110/150/190/230 (+65% ability power) magic damage and fearing enemies hit for 1 second. Enemies affected by Spirit World’s Touch will be feared for 1.5 second.

The creature that spawns from Aneiroi's torch looks like a human face surrounded by swirling tendrils of mist. If you want to, you can google Warcraft 3 Wisp and you'll know exactly what it is that I envision. When Aneiroi first activates this ability, she sends forth the spirit, similar to Kalista's W active. The player cannot set the maximum distance travelled, the spirit will ALWAYS travel 2000 units forward before making its way back to Aneiroi's torch. The spirit cannot be attacked in any way. It will reach the end of its path, then come back. At any given time, this ability can be reactivated to make the spirit scream. This does NOT interfere in any way with the spirit's little voyage of exploration. Feared targets will move away from the spirit's location when it screamed, not the spirit itself or Aneiroi. The cooldown of the ability only starts once the spirit comes back into Aneiroi's torch, so you can add about 3 more seconds to the ability's actual CD.

W - Curse of the Shattered Sight

Cost: 100 mana Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 seconds Range: 700 Area of Effect: 400 Delay: 0.5 second Enemies in the area are cursed for 3 seconds. They are unable to see enemies who are not within 700 range of them and take 90/135/180/225/270 (+90% ability power) magic damage over 3 seconds. Enemies affected by Spirit World’s Touch are also unable to see allies.

A black mist quickly rises out of the ground and wraps itself around the head of enemies hit. The damage over time effect and the CC are two different things, so Tenacity doesn't make this spell's damage burstier by reducing its duration. Enemies hit by the spell can't see their own enemies unless they are close by, kinda like Eve's passive. Like Graves' smokescreen, enemies that deal damage to you will be revealed. However, simply casting a spell or activating an item does NOT reveal you. You have to HIT an affected enemy for them to see you. Finally, affected units do not see enemies but they see ALL spell effects. So if, for example, Lux launches her shield, it'll reveal her general location even if she is invisible.

E - Flame Wisp

Cost: 55/60/65/70/75 mana + 1 charge Cooldown: 1.5 second (static) Range: 700 Attack Range: 450 Area of Effect: 300 Vision Range: 275 Delay: 0.35 second Delay Between Attacks: 0.25 second Missile Speed: 1800 Aneiroi creates a wisp that lasts up to 6 seconds. The wisp will grant vision around itself and will launch up to 3 flames to nearby targets before it dissipates. Each flame deals 22/34/46/58/70 (+20% ability power) magic damage. The wisp will prioritize enemy champions affected by Spirit World’s Touch. One charge is generated every 14/13/12/11/10 (affected by cooldown reduction) seconds. Aneiroi can hold up to 3 charges at any given time.

A small green flame sprouts into existence. It has 3 smaller flames orbiting it, similar to Ahri's W. Aneiroi can only cast this ability once every 1.5 second, so she can't just dump all 3 wisps at once for massive damage. The wisp's attack range is kinda small (450), but its attacks deal splash damage. The wisp can launch one attack every 0.25 second after it has activated. It takes 0.35 second after Aneiroi casts the spell before the wisp actually appears. The wisps will not disappear after it has launched its 3 flames, meaning it still grants vision after it has become harmless.

R - Shadow Realm's Grip

Cost: 150 mana Cooldown: 130/110/90 seconds Range: 600 Area of Effect: 500 Delay: 0.75 second Enemy champions in the area are pulled into a realm of nightmares. Inside this realm, they cannot see any other unit and are forced to fight 3 Shadow Beasts. Targets will exit the nightmare realm after 3 seconds or when the Shadow Beasts are defeated.

Enemy champions hit are put in a map of their own where everything is kind of faded, except for themselves and the 3 menacing Shadow Beasts. The beasts can take different forms, either large hounds made of pure darkness or more monstrous amalgams of shadows. The enemy champions hit appear only as very pale reflections of themselves in the real world. No one but them can see the shadow beasts. Each champion hit is ALONE with the beasts. The beasts each spawn at a 500 units distance from the champion and will immediately run towards it and try to attack. The champion can either fight them or run. A QSS will instantly put the champion back into the real world. The Shadow Beasts' basic attacks apply spell effects.

Shadow Beasts HP: 200/350/500 (+100% ability power) Armor: 50/75/100 (+8% ability power) Magic Resistance: 30/35/40 (+4% ability power) AD: 40/50/60 (+25% ability power) (deals magic damage) AS: 1.0 Range: 125 (melee) MS: 340/360/380 Thornmail: On being hit by basic attacks, returns 12/15/18% of damage, before any reductions such as armor, as magic damage. Relentless Hunter: Gains 30% bonus movement speed when it is not within melee range of its target. Can move through terrain.

SPECIAL FOR MARCH CCOS Aneiroi carries around various charms and trinkets that used to belong to the spirits that are her friends. She will sometimes travel around the world to recover such an item if one of her friends asks it of her. She does so not only because she believes she is collecting luck, but also because she cares deeply about her invisible friends. She will usually carry only a handful at a time, but switches daily between the dozens of lucky charms she has acquired over the years. Such items include a hex bag from a dead witch, the locket of a farm wife, an ionian scroll of good fortune, a travelling yordle musician's flute, a seven-leafed clover from the toxic slums of Zaun that has been preserved in amber, a very small music box hanging on a chain that used to belong to an inventor from Piltover, a demacian soldier's badge and a necklace of bones from the defeated opponents of a famous noxian gladiator.

Upon Selection

To war we go, my friends.

Attacking

The spirits frown upon you. You too will join our menagerie. Peace comes for you, stranger. Outsiders, begone! Your corpse will feed the swamps. As your body rots, your spirit shall be freed. Death is not so bad, friend. I'm about to make a new friend! All things end, including them. They cannot resist the natural order. Come to the torch, dear. You'll rest in peace, I promise. You'll never wake for this dream.

Movement

Come on friends. I miss my swamps. I smell magic in the air. Let's take a peek. Let us spread our light. So many things to see. I make new friends... and new foes. These are strange lands. I see through the veil. We march beyond life, beyond death. Walk between the worlds. Life and death. Dreams of equal beauty. We must maintain the equilibrium.

When hitting an enemy champion with Spirit World's Touch

When an enemy champion kills all 3 Shadow Beasts

Impressive. You've faced your fears and came out stronger. You're either wise or very strong! laughs

Joke: Several wisps come out of Aneiroi's torch and dance around her before drifting back in.

Ever heard of us? laughs My friends are not very sneaky! Terrifying, isn't it? laughs No, no, don't worry, they don't bite.

Taunt: Aneiroi points forward with her torch. Two shadow hounds suddenly appear on each of Aneiroi's sides and bite the air before vanishing.
