.:[Lore]:. Haku has never been one who likes to get her hands dirty. Her story has been told for years. The story of a girl from a poor village, who becomes the shadow of death in the mists.

The story begins at Kin’s Village, the nine year-old Haku sits along the dull dock with her father. She could not look at him fully, because she knew of his chronic illness that would lead up to his death. One day, she addressed it.

“How long will we be together?” she said. The elder comforted her and gazed onto the wide view of the ocean. “A very long time.” he answered. And she felt safer. To her right, she heard a delicate sound. She turned immediately and noticed the fishing poles were in motion. She called her father to them and when they gathered what was on the other side, they rejoiced.

“I know you'll take care of the family, Haku.” The old man said. “You've got great leadership.” That night, Haku slept warmly on her old bed. The bed creaked each time she sat on it, and she felt as though it got worse each time. This night, Haku could hear rumbling from within her father's room. Her mother lay asleep while her father consistently and uncomfortably rocked back and forth. Painful groans and moans emitted. Haku woke her mother, and they alerted assistance. She stood at the side of the unhealthy elder, desperate for his recovery. The pain became overwhelming, and she could hear a burst from the man. His lung collapsed, and before his last breath, he whispered as loud as he could. During complete silence, the words made their way to Haku and she read them as clearly as a window.

“I'll miss you.”

As years passed, life without her father became increasingly difficult not only for Haku, but also for her mother. As a poor family, they relied on a strong leader to drag them through. Without one, hope for survival slowly died out, as a candle closes it's eyes for a final breath of oxygen. Haku’s mother underwent a clear depression from the loss of her husband. Haku still visited the docks to try to catch fish, but only once out of five times did she have any luck. A dark night came, and Haku left to the forest to catch animals. As she journeyed into the woods, she lost her path. With her hunger growing periodically, she spotted a dark hallucination within the dark mists. A silhouette of a mercenary who’s eyes glowed purely white. She saw the figure move it's hand, and a large weapon emerged from it's backside. She grew afraid, and sprinted away.

When she felt the escaped the figure, her fear was short lived. It became relief. She found herself at a rusted metal gate with dents inside of it from one side to the other. She was staring at the exit. When she got home, she could only think about how worried her mother was. The moon grew brightly enough to signal it was past midnight. Haku had planned to whisper sweet thoughts to her mother in hopes that she would hear them in her dreams. That wish would never come true, as she found her mother’s body. She gaped in abject horror at the head of her mother, dangling by a dirty rope. Beside her was a stained paper, with a bloody fingerprint at the very bottom. It was a suicide note. She carefully read each word, her tears blurring her vision. She read the important parts of “The pain is too much.” “You and Haku are waiting for me.” and “We lost Haku today as well.” Haku dropped the page, trembling in fear.

“I killed my mother.” was all she whispered that night.

Haku lost her interest in life after the death of her mother. She was an orphan that lived by herself at the age of 13. Depression took over her, and she lost interest in hunting, talking, and even eating. In the days of her starvation, she found herself lying deeply in the snow. A towering figure stood above her, speaking words she barely heard. She looked up, seeing a tall man, with the bottom half of his face sealed in bandages. The man only stared at Haku, before the silence was broken.

“Children should not toy with death. Return home.” He said. Haku looked downward again, not making any contact with the man.

“I don't have have a home.” “Then consider this your saving grace.” he responded, and reached for Haku with a piece of bread. Haku glanced towards the bread, but remained silent. The man spoke again.

“Accept this offer, child. Take this bread, and serve me. You will become an assassin of the mists, like me.” Her eyes widened.

“You are the hallucination I saw in the mist!” she said. The man did not answer, and only waited for Haku to take the bread. She took it, and he hoisted her up. True to her word, Haku followed the man for every adventure, and remained a loyal assassin by his side.

Haku has mastered the dark art of the mists surpassed all but her master. Fifteen year-old Haku is an assassin without emotion, and will not show mercy, if it means her master is pleased.

...Not bad converting a Naruto Character into an League Champion. Here's my attempt for the Squid Sister Marie, who's from Splatoon.
