Story

Over many years, Melich had many names and done many great, yet terrible deeds. Long time ago, he was one of Mordekaiser's sorcerer. However, since then he went his own way, serving kings and emperors as a dark adviser, providing them with knowledge of the dark magic and corrupting their minds. He was seen in the shadows of the history numerous times, usually influencing events in the Empire of Noxus.

Nevertheless, he felt his marks all over Valoran, even before he was serving Mordekaiser. Some say that he is the first dark mage to walk on the soil of Valoran, a man, who sold his soul to demons for immortality. While these speculations and rumors have some thought, they aren't entirely accurate.

Melich isn't a human and wasn't one for many many years now, because while his body is human, it was taken over by a demon long time ago, even before rise of Shurima. Millenniums ago, when humanity just began to develop, a young man discovered a spring of magic.

Demon of corruption and sins, the one called Melich, was born together with humanity. It hidden itself from the eyes of others, creeping a round at nights, stealing people away, scaring and torturing them. Tribes of men tried to fight this demon, but they couldn't do anything with only spears and rocks, demon was just simply too strong for mortal men. However, a young man, who found a spring of magic and drank from it, gifted with new-found arcane powers, was a mach to this demon. When young man returned to his tribe, he showed his powers to other and promised to vanquish the demon away. The night came and demon returned to attack the tribe, it encountered that young man, who fought demon with magic. While simple magic powers weren't enough to kill the demon, the young man used them to imprison the demon in his own body.

Suppressed and imprisoned, demon could do a thing, only whisper in the ear of the young man. Years gone by, while man of this story was tormented by demonic whispers, slowly going insane. He left his tribe, trying to find magic spring of his youth. He thought, that another drink might cure him and take away the whispers, but he was wrong. As magic water flow thought his body, demon inside of his was also strengthened by it. With each and every drop of magic water, demon got more and more influence over the man. Tormented even more, man slowly drifted away from all humans and disappeared from history for hundreds of years. When he appeared again, the man was fully consumed by the demon inside. Magic water, which was drank by the man, gave his body immortality, but his mind was dead, as Melich, demon buried inside, had taken over. While naturally Melich wasn't able to use magic, human body, he was residing in, could. Under many different teacher he studied, and later on taught others. He experimented with magic, usually dark magic. He many numerous of followers, who follow him blindly, as Melich can charm and captivate people with his words and magic. He started a religion of himself, even before he was serving Mordekairser as one of his sorcerer. Some say, that it was he, who taught other Mordekaiser's sorcerers how to perform neromantic ritual to bring back Mordekaiser from the dead. Same is said about the ruined king, who turned blessed isles into shadows isles - Melich was influencing it in one way or another.

Even if he possessed an immortal body, it is still getting corrupted by vile magic, slowly getting older, until one dark it will crumble to dusts, so Melich is emerging back from the shadows, in search for a new body. He preaches about his greatness, powers of immortality, resurrection, greatness of sins and desires, gathering follows. He has a plant, dark and sinister plant. When his current body breaks apart, his demonic body will be released. He calls it and a descend of the god, teaching his followers what they will have to do next. He lied, manipulated and lied eve more, only to get his hands on a new and stronger body. He taught his followers an unforgivable, which causes users to lose their souls and fuse their bodies into one and perfect vessel for demon to take. Not only that, but he still hold some of magic water, to gift that vessel with immortality. The day his old shell breaks, he will get a new one.

(Melich) - you can poison me, you can stab me, you can hang me, god will not let me die until the day he will emerge from my body and change the world into paradise. He gifted me with powers you can't even understand. My god showed me the paradise and i will be welcomed into it, with love and eternal joy. Even when i die, my soul will be together with my god, in eternal happiness and love, like in no place else, as there could be no place better. A paradise without suffering, grief or pain, where you are free, happy and loved forever. I will be invited in such place, because i follow the one and true god. What will happen to you, after you die? You will rot in the ground, while demons will be tearing your soul apart, in the depths of the underworld you will spend your eternity, suffering, because you didn't accept the love of my god. (Melich talking to the band of bandits, who tired to raid one of his gatherings, and after his speech and demonstration of his dark magic, he turned these bandits into believers)

You have a GREAT idea going on here. I love the kit, lore, and the origin. Plus thanks for the song (never heard it before. Loved it)

You have a better head for the numbers than I do. Could you help me out?

Ultimate is pretty sweet, if he's naturally tanky it's pretty broken though. Is he naturally tanky? His late game is powerful but not broken. Congrats on that.

Nice going though. I like it.

Could you check out my champion concept and leave some critique? I've been working quite hard on it, and I'd enjoy the opinion of someone like you on it. Gid, the Carefree Fawn

The w being able to stealth hard cc skillshots would be a bit of an issue especially firing from a bush. Also, the passive has a ton of hidden power on it with the unnoticeable stat buffs/rebuffs. Maybe make it a 20% or so constant slow making the debuff something noticeable and impactful possibly with some small ally stat buffs. Finally the w passive is kind of weird because it really wants attack speed and spamming low damage autos which is tricky to itemize for as a support while also probably getting killed if he tries to use it in a team fight. Why is the passive here? Aside from that I really like the concept and the lore is cool. Also, the ult is awesome.

CCOS review

Flaws:

  1. Passive - hard to build and offers too good defense against enemies. It is pretty much 10% stats difference and you could potentially increase it to cower the whole map.So, either it is pretty strong defense or extremely strong offense. I think you should focus one one of these things.
  2. Q - i would say that that 1.5 sec AOE charm is too strong. Damage is pretty decent, but if enemy clusters, this one ability can destroy their team.
  3. W - passive looks like a dueling tool, but rest of the kit doesn't support dueling, so it is bit out of place. Also, like some other person have mentioned, invisible projectiles could be very serious problem early game. I would imagine this champion to be a major ***hole in the line, outing curtain on the bust, as if your jungler is about to gank, scaring enemy champion away, while no one is actually ganking.
  4. E - your kit already had strong CC with Q, another one might not be necessary. Also, it looks pretty anti-fun, because other allies can remove sleep effect.
  5. R - i am not sure if it is broken or just mind crushing. You have W to play mind games with enemies and now R. If enemies suddenly ambush you, but you manage to activate R, then you could potentially make pentakill 1v5. Put this ability up and enemies can't fight you, can't even AOE, because they will fear hitting you. While this is not particularly strong ability - mind games are out of this world, because enemies will always be afraid to fight you.

Another cool concept! A bit strong, though. My feedback: -The passive mechanic is so cool but the stat bonus is so boring! Can you find a more interesting way to make that zone give allies power and take enemy power away? -Q charm duration should scale, perhaps .9/1.05/1.2/1.35/1.5 -W should be cast centered on you only, since ally stealth is very strong in a few edge cases -E is interesting and potentially fair if the cooldown is longer. You could double it and have it refund half if a hit enemy is woken up. -For R, I'd remove that passive in favor of making his overall passive more interesting. Maybe if they attack enough times while in his influence, they get that fear? As far as the active, I would add a large delay before that damage is applied. It should record 3s of damage, and then have 3s where he is vulnerable but the effect can't be stopped by killing him. Then, after a total of 6s, enemies take that 3s worth of damage. This way the invulnerability + heal isn't too overpowered.

The passive reminds me a lot of the first concept I posted here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/WAirjt3k-champion-jovah-the-keeper-of-the-forest

Passive: Either you forgot the range of your passive around you or it is complettly useless early to midgame if its just your base and slowly extends out. Other than that its complettly op because enemies are severly hindered while fighting in it and since it covers the whole base you cant really escape.

Q: cooldown is quite high early and damage low, but an AoE charm for 1.5 seconds is just op since charm is probably the best cc in the game.

W Passive: You get way too good of a shield if you stack it up and considering your kit only needs ap and cdr otherwise nashors is a must have anyways and if you get some more AS you have a permanent shield. W Active: Far too strong. The ally stealth not as much, but it makes projectiles invisible and slows enemeis which makes it far too strong. you could just stand close to it and fire invisible AoE charms.

E: Interesting ability. Like it a lot.

R Passive: Makes teamfights in your passive range impossible for the enemy. Attacking your team basicly becomes impossible if they arent ahead a ton. R Active: Interesting, but if he cant die its op. Just throw yourself into the enemies projectiles and if the enemy mid just launched his combo at you he is probably going to die. At least make it possible ot die since otherwise you can just intercept so much damage and throw it back.

##Champion Concept Review

He is my feedback on your concept. My review style is and focused on four main things: Kit & kit cohesion, champion intentions versus kit, champion theme vs kit, and would it just work/fit in current LOL. These are aspects of concept design that I resonate with and feel that I can give the best feedback in..

Basic Information

Name Melich is a good name. Also, I think it is fitting for his tagline" *the Immor(t)al Priest. The tagline as you have stated puts the focus on immortal, so that should be a aspect in the design. But I am looking for how bad he can be, extending his own life, and theming his abilities around

Theme Music Excellent music. Very different and does add to expanding music types for champions. And including more cultural influences for the current character aspects (having Russian theme with this) with a truly groovy beat.

Not that this will help in the contest, but the video is fun to watch too.

Appearance Along with the music, his old face, drab clothes, and long hair seems to round out the aesthetic portion of the concept. I think the long coat an add to his personality and be a main point of animation for his abilities.

In comparison to other champions, an older man in a long coat is not represented, so he fits in there in that regard.

##Abilities

Passive: Last Rites

Perfect name, and fits thematically. Its like your walking over to the dead body and performing the last rite speech. It has a very good range for the souls to appear. It also works nicely with the second portion of your Passive – Religion of Me

Suggestions

  • You can have it for every dead champion, allied or not, have their soul be able to have this passive performed on them
  • you can also allow this last right to be done at range, for a very short self silence, say .75 seconds at a medium range, say 500 units, clicking on the soul while being able to continue giving movement commands.

Religion of Me

Excellent name, thematically fits, and adds to the evil nature of this 'religious' priest.

However, this passive very little application while in laning. And, in the bad situation of being pushed to your tower during laning, the area it covers only effects melee champs on a tower diving mission to your allies tower hugging.

The effects is powerful, as it cripples every aspects of combat, and in turn, gives that power to your teammates. One important questions you need to answer is does this effect still happen at destroyed towers. It feels funny that the religion of me, is actually not focused around Melich. These, personally, is a bit hard to mental get over. I can understand the concept of 'praise me at my church' which in this case the church would be the fountain, but I think that idea is not as strong as having the aura around him.

Suggestions

  • Make this effect an aura that effect an area around him.
  • Have the increased range stack, and have stacks be lost every, say, 90 / 120 / 150 seconds. Maxing at 8 stacks.
  • Have these stacks persist through death.

Q: Dark Charms

Easy to use and seems balanced by cooldowns for the strong charm effect, but the mana cost does not scale as it should. For that, say, starting at 40, it should at least scale by an additional 20 mana each rank. The damage is very low at its base, and in the additional AP scaling, so this ability is mainly for the AOE utility. Thematically, charming people with your voice / dark powers for the priest theme is also very fitting. I like that part.

Suggestions

  • Increase the scaling on the mana cost. Maybe for the strength of the utility (strong level 1) increase the base cost to 60 mana.
  • Ensure that the projectile is slow moving or has a decent animation prior to firing the it.

W: Black Curtains Passive Getting a shield from auto attacking...? This enforces both a aggressive/offensive character, and more importantly an aggressive playstyle for this champ. Which seems to feel along with the lore, and the demon wanting to basically spread the word and attraction of his power. I do feel, the utility, along with the AOE charm is just giving me more of a team fight/ skirmishing champ.

The 12 autos before it is fully stacks is something I would be amazed to see through while on the rift without dying being near worthless in the late game, but very strong in the early game while focusing on harassment of enemy laners.

Suggestions

  • Im not too sure about this one. I would have to suggest to instead of a shield, you can show his unstoppable the demon is by increasing tenacity by 5% every auto attack up to 100% where when he has a new walking animation when it hits 100%.
  • Have the above tenacity benefit reset to 0% after getting CC'ed

Active I think the casting of this spell be vector targeted, the same how Victors laser or Rumble is fired out. The effect is a strong initiation tool, strongly cutting off a exit path, or being able to invisgank with multiple team members. All in all, I am fine with the slow and the invisibility portions, I am not sure how the invisible projectile would be in terms of balance. Takening random damage, as it would feel, wouldn't be fair. There is a lot of cheese ability with say, Nidalee spears.

Also, how would this react with global projectiles? Can you hide a Ashe Arrow or a Jinx Rocket for cross map snipes? Lux Laser. Caitlyn ult? There are a lot of variables that interfere with the clean gameplay you have so far with your concept. Lastly, your mana cost scaling is outrageously low again.

E: Kiss of Damnation You need a point of clarity for the 'sleep' mechanic. Is this a new form of crowd control, like a stun or something that stops cc'ing upon damage? Thematically, this doesn’t fit at all. We really want to move away with priest kissing the congregation without having any specific reference to it (long history hopefully) kissing those the priest declares to be damned. The sleep is not a bad idea, it also doesn’t fit with this character either. He seems hold some sort of public speaker, captivating his audience, and putting them to sleep doesn’t to meld with that.

Suggestion

  • You already have a strong CC ability, along with the slow, and having 3 different forms of cc, with 2 basically being stuns are a bit strong.
  • I would remove the sleep mechanic here, and place it on anther concept of yours. It’s a nice mechanic but just doesn't thematically fit.
  • A replacement ability, slightly changing it would be having damage amplification to that enemy and allowing it to be passed to an champion. This idea isnt flushed out but I would feel would be more thematically be better.

R: Deadly Sin of Pride

Passive The fear duration scaling is … strange, that’s the first thing I noticed (being normally .25 increments, but I guess you want it strong from the get go.). But the influence zone being hinged to towers and your fountain makes this passive effect not very effective, especially when fighting on their side of the rift. But will be more applicable when it would be an aura around you. I do understand what your trying to go for with the skill name... "hey I can kill this guy because I'm that good." and then they pay for it with their own health. But another stun in this kits is just broken at this point.

Active Frist, this is simply unfair.... second, I personally think the 'delaying death' motif is harder and harder at being original and balance. In regards to the unfair point, you have a Trynd ult to hits them back for scaling that is too high. The only way to outplay this is simply kill your other teammates. The priest staying alive through unnatural power is fine with me though. Even the healing portion is fine with me. But there is no ability to outplay this too safe ultimate, or a way to counter it.

Suggestions

  • Remove the inability to die while this spell is active.
  • I think a balancing force, such as removing creating a "belief tether' to any enemy who damages you in a medium radius is created while the spell is active on the ally you place this protection on, they are damaged for 40% / 60% / 80% of the damage that ally has received, If they are still connected at the end of the spell and you the ally is still alive.
  • This suggestion is in effort to keep the 'dealing damage back to them that they dealt you' option in the kit, but I feel has a poor justification in the kit to begin with.

##Final thoughts

I like the theme, the champion visuals, and a few of the abilities in the kit have a very good start on creating a complete and cohesive champ. I do believe there is still some changes, especially to the ultimate will more round out his kit and overall design.

(I will debate this, if you want, and come back for futher evaluation on replies, if you want.)

#Melich the Immor(t)al Priest

#Lore (15/20) Bad grammar and missing words actually hurt your tale pretty badly. Not awful, though, and the story is still followable.

The worst example is this: "Under many different teacher he studied, and later on taught others. He experimented with magic, usually dark magic. He many numerous of followers, who follow him blindly, as Melich can charm and captivate people with his words and magic. He started a religion of himself, even before he was serving Mordekairser as one of his sorcerer. "

Now it isn't the worst thing but it's pretty awful from my perspective. It makes sense having read the rest of it, but reading that sentence I became super lost.

That said because of how hard to follow a number of parts are, I can't as well ascertain the character.

  Kit Analysis

Innate Passive: Last Rites n/a. This should be after the effect it actually influences, not before.

Innate Passive: Religion of Me So.. the map has a diameter of like 12000, if memory serves. 100u isn't a lot.

My main thing is that I see no value in this effect. It's a ton of power that doesn't... do.. anything nice. The buff is both small and huge, but more importantly it's snowbally.

But it's worse than being snowbally, it's snowbally but basically only works when defending.

What were you even imagining with this passive?

Ability 1: Dark Charms

It's a shorter range Anivia Q that Charms instead of Stuns. It also has a super low mana cost but an appropriate cooldown for its strength.

(Those are not negative statements, those are simply what I read out of the ability's effects and comparing it to something else-- because it helps me.)

It's thematic and functional.

Ability 2: Black Curtains

The passive is nice. Shields for basic attacks. THAT MUCH shield PER BASIC, though, just says "build as/ap and never die". But that's not bad.

No, no, the active of this ability is.

First, STEALTH. WHY? It's a terrible thing to cram into a kit most of the time, and this time it's also being given to allies. That's just ridiculous.

But this last part goes against the covenant of this game. It is, by itself, more violating of good design principles than Wind Wall (and we all know how much flak THAT got).

For that last part alone, I feeeel like I should be giving you -80 points on gameplay. But that would be dumb, since it specifies that it's only for Melich.

Ability 3: Kiss of the Damnation

First that name is just wrong Second, I like this ability. But it's dumb.

  1. Unless while asleep a unit can move, it turns 2v1//2v2 situations into 1v1//1v2 situations. But, if an asleep unit can freely act, then why is it called sleeping.
  2. Never going to get the DoT effect off in a teamfight.
  3. It is another high cooldown ability on a kit that already is full of high cooldown abilities. It means that this champion is going to end up useless or useful with almost no in between, because each skill is so influential.

Ultimate Ability: Deadly Sin of Pride

This passive effect is, sorry to say, flat out dumb.

First of all, it requires you to be in the influence area. e.g. base.

Second, it applies a 0.7~1 second CC. Against enemies. For playing well.

The active is unique and different and terrible design, because it punishes enemies doubly for doing what they should. First, it punishes them with damage return, second it punishes them with wasted damage.

Oh, and of course, it heals Melich, because then they won't die to a stiff breeze with that singular point of HP that they may have at the end of this.

YOUR INNATE, W, AND R VIOLATE BASICALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT RIOT DESIGN.

Your innate rewards you for turtling. It makes it harder for games to end.

Your ultimate passive, by extension, since it is an added effect to your passive, does the same, but EVEN MORESO.

Your W violates it in two ways. First, potentially stealthing the entire team for a whole second, second, invisible projectiles is considered a bug (SEE NIDALEE. HAVE YOU NOT SEEN THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT HER SPEARS TURNING INVISIBLE?).

Your E is silly. It's cute, but it just has so many other problems...

#Flow/Fun (12/25) I cannot identify a play pattern to this kit. It's... Just... there. There isn't anything tricky about the abilities, there doesn't seem to be anything that asks you to do "X to Y to W", there's no "outplay" style effects.

Your abilities have a natural cadence, but it's entirely carried because of the #Lore. In gameplay terms, there isn't anything too binding about any of your abilities.

#Design Implementation (8/20)

I have no idea what the hell he's supposed to BE.

His powers are all over the place and don't solidfy on any identity as a carry. His Q/W suggest a high emphasis on a supporting role, his W passive and R say he wants to get in short fights after prepping, his E is unpredictable in usefulness.

Just overall it's so terrible that I want to give the entire gameplay a zero of eighty. I mean, that's obviously a gut reaction, but that is my gut reaction.

#Novelty (10/20)

Interesting. On every ability. However. Each thing is so in an AWFUL way.

The passive is pathetic from a game influence and design standpoint. The range increasing with kills makes it snowbally but it has no significant effect (100u means nothing), so it's effectively limited to just the base + when turret hugging.

The Q is a 1.5 second, large-ish AoE, of the strongest CC type in the game (though one affected by Tenacity). This is different and isn't necessarily weak nor overpowered nor a bad thing to have extant.

The W violates rules left and right.

The E just doesn't make sense to me.

The ultimate is ridiculously not-really-useful! Oh, you reflect damage back? Who cares, you just don't get focused once you use it. Or, alternatively, the enemy loses all agency because they can't do anything about you (you are a mage, unlike tryndamere: CCing you after you've casted matters much much less than for him). Which is just bad design, again.

And everybody who commented... really deserves a lesser score on their comment bonus for not pointing any of this out.

There are huge, obvious problems with this that are almost explicitly outlined as "bad for game" happening here-- if you read most of the dev blogs and such, at least.

#Cohesiveness (12/15) SO. There is no theme that ties each of these abilities together, to me.

Because it's convienent, let me show what I mean via Ahri. Passive: Gumihos eat people (livers, or souls, w.e.) to become more human, to extend their life, etc [heal up for hitting spells] Q: Gumihos carry soul-balls, which are integral to their existence. [It comes back to her; it dealing true damage also can express how nothing can survive loss of soul] E: Gumihos are often alluring types. [charm lol] R: Gumihos are evasive. [3 dashes]

FOUR of her five abilities have direct ties to her origin as a gumiho.

Admittedly, I don't know what if anything you were calling on for Melich. He's "dark priest" but his kit only has that represented in his passive and Q.

The -kit- itself, however, works decently well in combination-- or at least his basic abilities do.

= 15+12+8+10+12 = 57/100 [Bonus x2]

(Um, post script, don't take it too negatively. I'm super critical and edged to certain things due to how I've learned this and what I've read.)
