I don't understand why they don't like "Dauntless".
Do they think we're THAT stupid that we won't understand what dauntless means?
and even then, people can easily search for it's definition.

It's quite irritating really, considering all the community feedback they've gotten. I can't think of a single reason to call it Challenger over Dauntless, apart from Riot just being stubborn...
It's been pretty much universal disapproval of "Challenger" Ahri. They should just change it back to Dauntless. Community overwhelmingly seems to support changing it back.
We care and if you'd actually have looked into the discussion about it on the other threads, you would see the community has some very valid reasons for wanting it changed back to Dauntless.
I believe it's called "Challenger" because it represents a new competitive season starting. I agree though (as most do) that Dauntless is a much better name.
I don't know if I should be surprised if it goes live as "Challenger Ahri" or not. I mean, a majority of the community agrees that it should be called "Dauntless Ahri" again, and seeing that we have a Challenger tier, its more than obvious that the name will cause confusion for newcomers.
Normally, I wouldn't care about a skin's name(unless Riot missed the opportunity to call skins like Snowstorm Sivir "Shivir"), but seeing that there's plenty of valid points on why it should be renamed, I kind of agree with these topics.
Sounds like challenged ahri and i just can't get that over that fact. So i won't be buying it lol.
After reading the OP, I had to double click Dauntless, right click, click 'Search Google for Dauntless', and learn. Too much work.
But Challenger Ahri is such a bad name that I would still vote for Dauntless Ahri.
Agreed, Dauntless sounds much better.

It is why they dumbed down the name on Lux' ult to something generic anime attack sounding.
Who cares, it's just a name.
Its just a skin. If you don't like the name, then don't buy it. QQ threads like these will most likely discourage them from even sharing upcoming skin info until its 100% certain, and I for one enjoy the fact that riot shares their plans before release. It gives us all something to look forward to. Let's be honest here, if they had released it with the name challenger ahri instead of dauntless no one would even be complaining in the first place, just be happy the skin just had the name changed; they could have scrapped the whole idea if they wanted to.
Dauntless is shorter, cleaner, and just sounds better overall. Not to mention the overlap with the Challenger tier that will cause confusion. Some may have to look up what it means (being an avid reader myself, it's difficult for me to understand that sometimes), but it's a simple enough word, and it doesn't hurt that the Divergent series has recently made it a bit more widely known.
Even if you leave it up to it "just being a name" why would you not want the best possible? Why would you stop trying for something simply because it's not the most important thing in the entire world?
Plot twist: It's part of a new theme Riot is starting. This season we get Challenger Ahri, next season Diamond Malphite, then comes Platinum Thresh, then Gold Urgot, and finally we get Bronze Vayne.
Too bad the patch is pretty much done now. Pretty sure we'll be seeing it hit the live within the next week now that they have the splashes and such added.
So they have most likely finalized the name.
I heard of one possible reason that someone posted somewhere. If you look at Garen's backstory, he is the commander of the Dauntless Vanguard. So Riot could potentially be trying to leave the door open for "Dauntless" skins associated with the Demacian faction. Ahri, however, is not part of a faction (she is listed as independent in the wiki). She did not join the League of Legends representing any faction.
Note that other champs will be receiving Challenger skins at some point as well and not just Ahri
I think Dauntless Blitzcrank would sound kinda weird.
